CHAPTER TWO: She's a lykra

Ten years old melian ran all the way to her grandmother Anna's house, she loved her grandma because she always told her stories, her mother had told her grandmother that the stories she told melian were too gruesome for her age but melian still went there anyway and her grandmother still told her the stories
“Grandma Anna I've arrived," melian yelled out, her grandmother came out from her house to answer her
“ Oh my dear little elfling, come here," melian ran over to anna and hugged her
“ So what does my darling little elf want to hear about today?," She asked as she led melian into her house
“ I didn't come here for a story grandma, did you forget what today was?," Melian asked anna, Anna looked at her for a while before her eyes widened
“ Today is your gem day, how could I forget that?, then what are you doing here instead of being at the elvian tree?," Anna looked at her curiously
“ I can't do it without you by my side," Melian smiled at Anna and Anna patted her head
“ Let's go then," Anna held melian hand and led her to where the elvian tree was, on the way there melian couldn't help but ask alot of questions
“ Grandma how is the gem chosen?," Melian looked up at her grandma
“ It isn't chosen little elf, the gem chooses you," Anna said to melian
“ Grandma how is it done?," Melian asked curiously she didn't understand any of this gem choosing you thing
“ Don't worry the prophetess will tell you what to do when you get there." Anna smiled down at her, melian was quiet for a while before she decided to ask
“ Grandma what colour of gem do you think I'll have?," Anna looked down at her, observed her before saying
“ I'm thinking you'll have a blue or red gem because your father is red where as you mother is blue but maybe you might just have white like me." Melian frowned she didn't want white, she loved her grandma's healing power but she can't use her healing power to do anything else except ....healing, she kept her thoughts to herself so as not to hurt her grandma's feelings, she didn't say anything else till they reached the elvian tree.
Everyone was there, melian saw some children her age standing next to the elvian tree “ They must be in the same position with her" she thought
“ Melian where have you been?, I've been looking everywhere for you," Andria asked her daughter, as soon as she saw her mother she knew melian had gone to listen to those stories which she didn't like, she frowned at her mother
“ Mother did you tell melian those stories again?," Melian held her mother's hand to turn her attention back at her
“ No I went to meet her to bring her here so she can see me choosing my gem," Her mother sighed then smiled at her
“ Oh alright, now run along, go near the elvian tree, the ceremony is about to start," Melian nodded at her mother then ran off to join her the other children waiting for their gems.
“ We have gathered here today to witness another gem ceremony, I shall call on the first participant now," the prophetess said before looking at her scroll
“ Adriana please step forward and touch the tree," Adriana did as she was told
“ now close your eyes," the prophetess started praying to the elf goddess, just after she finished talking, Adriana bowed down her head when she finally raised it up her eyes were red and her body glowed red, everyone cheered for her because red gem elf's were said to be the strongest
“ Elva please step forward and touch the tree," Elva did as she was told, the prophetess did the same thing for Elva but this time hers was blue, everyone cheered for her, the same thing went on and on with the rest children till it finally got to melian's turn
“ Princess melian, touch the tree," Melian did as she was told waited for the prophetess to finish her prayer before bowing her head, she waited but nothing happened, the people started murmuring even the prophetess was surprised
“ what's happening prophetess?," Davan walked down to the elvian tree
“ I don't know, melian touch the tree again," Melian did what she was told, the prophetess prayed again after that melian bowed her head but still nothing
“ What is going on?," Andria came over to see what was happening to her daughter, just then melian started screaming, everyone stared at her in shock, davan tried to touch her but he just got thrown to the ground by a powerful force
“ Davan!" Andria shouted before turning to her daughter who was still screaming like she was in pain, she wondered what was happening to her daughter, just then a mighty wind came, some people got thrown across while some who were strong enough stood their ground, Andria held on to the branch of the tree and stared at her daughter “ What was happening" she wondered, melian screamed louder before lifting up to the sky, her body glowed green, everyone present gasps, they couldn't believe it, she was a lykra!
Melian didn't know what was happening to her body, she felt something within her change before she finally fell down, her mother was right there to catch her, melian felt exhausted she just wanted to sleep at this moment
“ What just happened prophetess?," Davan asked when he saw his daughters eyes, she couldn't be...
“ She's a lykra your majesty," everyone gasped, their thoughts had finally been confirmed, everyone stared at the now exhausted melian
“ Take her to her room Andria let her rest." Davan told his wife and she did just as told, when Andria disappeared with melian, davan turned to the people
“ The ceremony is over, you may all return to your homes," everyone had no choice but to listen to their king and left, davan turned to the prophetess
“ What's going to happen now?," Davan looked at her worriedly, he didn't want anything bad to happen to his only child
“ This news that she's a lykra has to not leave this city walls only then will she be safe," she assured him
“ How did you not see this coming, don't you see visions?," The prophetess didn't answer because she also didn't know.
