CHAPTER THIRTEEN: The green dragon

Back in Aneathra...
Anna looked at Davan in pity. She could see the under bags under his eyes which were caused by sleepless nights. They both stood by the Elvian tree.
“How is Andria?" She asked softly. He shook his head.
“She's getting worse...at this rate, she might even fall into depression" He said tiredly. Anna patted his back.
“Melian is a strong girl Davan, I Believe she knew the risk before taking it, have faith in your daughter" She said firmly. Davan sighed.
“I do have faith in her but she's wasn't ready, only the goddess knows what she's going through right now" Davan heaved out another sigh.
“I feel like this is my fault," Anna said softly. Davan turned to her and shook his head.
“No mother, why would you say that?" Anna sighed.
“Well if I didn't tell her all those things when she was young and didn't turn her into the curious little elfling she is today, maybe this won't have happened" Davan looked up at the sky and sighed.
“I have a feeling she would" they were silent for a while “I have to go see how Andria is doing now" Anna nodded at him as he walked away.
Andria was sitting on the bed, looking gloomy when Davan walked in. She briefly glanced at him before turning her attention away from him. He sighed then walked towards the bed and sat down. He caressed her face.
“Are you alright my love?" She glanced at him but said nothing. He sighed and gathered her in an embrace. He kissed her forehead.
“Are we just going to sit here and wait till she comes back?" Andria whispered hoarsely.
“If I could go look for her, I would. All we have to do now is trust our daughter". Andria sighed before closing her eyes and succumbing to sleep.
“Well this journey has been great so far, I don't see how this could go wrong" Ace said as they all sat down to rest for a little while. Elva stood up and said she was going for a walk.
“We need a bath, we all stink" Damien said bluntly. Alfur rolled his eyes at him.
“Find us a pond then" he suggested. Damien stood up.
“I would love to" Elva came running back before Damien could take another step.
“Guys, you won't believe what I saw" Melian stood up and walked up to her.
“What is it?" Elva then started demonstrating with her body.
“Along the path I was walking on, I saw two separate paths. One looked so cheery and I swear, I saw a fairy while the other was like an evil forest. It was dark like pitch black. How can it be so dark when the sun is still up?" Alfur stood up.
“Ok then, we know where we're headed" Ace stood up.
“To the fairies?" He asked hopefully. Alfur gave him a deadpan look. He sighed.
“Worth a shot, let's go" They all walked towards the dark path.
“I have a sinister feeling about this path," Ace muttered. They all stood at the entrance of the dark path.
“It looks like my soul" Damien murmured. They all turned to him except Alfur, with a raised eyebrow.
“I'm serious, it does" He retorted. They all turned their attention back to the matter at hand.
“It doesn't look as scary as you described Elva '' Alfur said nonchalantly. They all gasped.
Easy for you to say, you can just appear and disappear whenever you want. I'm just a wolf, I don't have any power" Ace grumbled. Alfur rolled his eyes before walking into the darkness. As soon as he left the light and entered the darkness, it swallowed him. They stared at the path in horror.
“Here goes nothing" Damien muttered before walking through the path with Melian and Elva behind him. Ace gulped before walking in with them. As soon as the darkness swallowed them, Melian and Ace screamed. Alfur appeared right in front of them, they couldn't see him but they felt his presence.
“Why are you guys screaming?We don't know what's in here" he harshly whispered. Melian scoffed.
“All of you here have magic,me and wolf boy over here don't" She muttered. Elva followed her voice and walked up to them.
“Let's split up, I'll go with melian and Damien while Ace goes with Alfur"
“Are you mad girl?We can't split up in this kind of place. Let's all stay together" Ace said.
“He's right, everyone needs to stay together," Alfur said.
“Elva?, Can you light up this place with your water magic?" Alfur suggested. She glared at him through the darkness and was about to say something when Damien spoke.
“She has water magic not light, water is basically useless here" Elva scoffed before turning to Damien's voice.
“Oh yeah?" She dug up the water from the ground and made a big bubble with it, she closed her eyes for a second and when she opened it, her eyes and gems glowed light blue and so did the bubble. She turned to Damien.
“You were saying?" She said to him but he wasn't looking at her, in fact no one was looking at her.
“Erm....you might want to look forward," Melian whispered from behind her. Elva slowly faced forward. Her breath hitched as she saw the sleeping green big dragon. She screamed and lost concentration of her magic and the water fell to the ground with a splash. The dragon roared loudly and flared it's nose at them, Alfur and Damien jumped into action and leaped on the dragon's back. Melian rushed towards Elva.
“Make light again" Elva nodded vigorously and did as she was told. As soon as the light came on, Melian's eyes met with the dragon's and something in her lit up. She advanced towards it like it was calling her. Elva called her name from behind but she wasn't listening. From the corner or her eye, she saw that Alfur was about to slain the dragon. Unconsciously her eyes and gems glowed green as she blasted Alfur with a powerful wind and did the same to Damien. They both landed on the floor with a thud and turned to Melian with wide eyes.
“Do not hurt him" She said and fell on the floor.
