Unaccepted?

Meanwhile, the three girls were sitting in their living room, staring at the laptop screen on Kayara's lap. Sophie and Anna sat on her either side.

"Do you think he will still be awake by this time? It's already twelve o'clock," Kayara asked looking at both of her friends.

"My instinct says he's awake. Just send him the request," Anna said with sheer confidence.

After pausing for a moment, Kayara made her decision. She pressed the 'ENTER' button and sighing deeply she said, "Done."

Back in the mansion, Alex changed out of his stained clothes and came out in his pajamas. But by that time, the food got cold. He thought of calling the servant to take the food back and to clean the coffee splattered on the floor. But when he picked up the phone, his eyes caught something unusual on the phone screen.

There was an unexpected notification. Hastily, he unlocked his phone with his slender finger. And what he saw before his eyes was unbelievable, especially for Alex. His heart started to beat faster in excitement.

His previously little delighted face now flashed with astonishment, but soon, he collected his senses back and smiled his sexy but triumphant smile.

"I did not know that you craved to talk to me this much. We haven't even met many times, yet you already sent me a follow request," he said out loud before looking up at the ceiling in happiness. He bit his lips in excitement, "Have you fallen in love with me too?"

'Keep you dream a little bit low, Alex.' advised the devil of his mind.

The next moment his forehead, was covered with lines and he looked back down at his phone, "But I wonder how you came to know this account? Are you spying on me or something?"

What shocked him was the fact that this request was to his private account which no one knew except his family and a few close friends. He used to deal with all the unknown persons on his public account.

The first thing he wanted to ask her was how she came to know about this account. But he dropped that idea and thought of waiting a little first. He smirked a little and abandoned her request without accepting it. He then switched apps and dialed a number.

He talked to someone asking for some services in his room and then cut the call and placed the phone back on the table. Two servants entered his room to clean the room and after cleaning it they went back with the untouched plate of food.

Half an hour earlier…

Kayara, Anna, and Sophie sat on the couches in the living room after finishing a satisfying dinner. Sophie was there too, despite Kayara's urges to make her go sleep. She knew it had been a tiring day for her.

"Why were you so angry at Alex back in the college?" Sophie asked Kayara while sitting on the couch. "Now tell me."

"Oh God! Are you on to that again?" Kayara sighed while throwing herself on the couch next to her.

Anna, who was coming from the kitchen carrying a family pack of an ice cream box, chuckled at Kayara's annoyed reaction.

"What mysterious things are going on between you two?" Anna laughed before narrowing her eyes playfully at them.

"You're talking as if you've never eavesdropped on our secrets," Sophie stated with an obvious face and leaned forward to take the ice cream from Anna's hands.

Anna let her take the box and pouted, "You cruel human," she purred, trying to be cute. She sat down on the couch too before Sophie asked, "Kayara, are you telling me why?"

"I had met Alex before. On the day we bunked college. I bumped into him while coming out of the restroom and then…" Kayara continued, finally revealing to them the whirlwind of unexpected events that had happened that day. She elaborated everything including how she will try to make Alex her friend to know him more, leaving their prank thing untouched.

"Oh, so that was the reason you were cursing him," Sophie said after listening to Kayara's story.

Kayara nodded her head in agreement.

Anna asked after a long silence, "Kayara, then how are you going to be his friend, despite having such a bad relationship with him?"

Kayara fiddled her fingers, "I tried to find a way, but then got fed up thinking about it. You're right. I don't know how," Kayara admitted. She stopped fiddling with her fingers and now they just lay on her lap, still. "And everytime I saw him, his face triggers me. I don't know why tho."

"Why don't you try talking to him on social media then? That way you can resolve your issues with him more easily and become his good friend too," Sophie suggested after giving it some thought.

Upon hearing her, Anna and Kayara both looked at her face with their mouth left open.

Seeing the strange reaction of the two, Sophie asked, confused, "What happened, did I say something wrong?"

"Yes," Kayara said, raising her eyebrows.

"No!" Anna yelled at the same time, smiling in joy, "Why didn't you think of it before? That's a great idea!" Anna screamed before Kayara could say anything.

Kayara didn't like the fact of talking to Alex at all. But she didn't tell that reason when she explained what was wrong. Instead, she said, "But he must get hundreds of random messages everyday…how is this even going to work? Even if he sees it, is it appropriate to talk about personal stuff on a public account?"

"Who told you that you would talk to him on his public account?" Sophie countered with a smile.

"Means?" Kayara asked, perplexed. What other way was there?

"Means. You'll talk to him through his private account. Not public," Sophie said with a cheeky smile on her face.

"Do you know his private account?" Kayara asked with surprise. Sophie nodded in agreement.

"But how? I mean..."

"Now why are you conducting this unnecessary investigation?" Anna butted in, "Take this laptop and send him a request quickly," Anna shoved the laptop towards her.

Kayara hesitantly logged into her account and typed in the account name Sophie mentioned. After finding Alex's account, Kayara turned back to face Anna and Sophie and tried yet another excuse, "Do you think he will still be awake by this time? It's already twelve o'clock," Kayara asked looking at both of her friends.

"My instinct says he's awake. Just send him the request," Anna said with sheer confidence.

Five minutes after sending the request, Sophie jumped and pointed to the screen, "Hey look he is online! That means he hasn't slept yet."

"Will he accept?" Kayara asked nervously.

Anna stared at the laptop screen, "I think he will," she said, walking on her instincts again.

But after two minutes of coming online, he went offline. When the three girls saw that the request was still unaccepted they all shouted together, "What! UNACCEPTED?"
