Stupid Bartender

1008 Words
Back inside campus… After Alex left with his brother, Kayara entered the office totally annoyed from that small encounter with Alex. A placid Anna followed her. In her frustration, Kayara had completely forgotten why she was here and where she was going. When Kayara went inside and saw Professor Christin sitting in his chair behind the desk, she came back to earth from the flight of her anger. "Hey... Hello my dear children, how are you both?" A man in his fifties with white and grey hair and a slightly round tummy greeted them with a beautiful smile. When he noticed two of his favorite students standing near the office door, he got up and went towards them. "Hello sir, W…we are fine. How are you?" Kayara, who was drowned in anger a moment back, now said meekly controlling her over flowing emotions. Prof. Christin tousled their heads lovingly. "I'm also good. Come in," He took them inside to the couch and asked them to take a seat. Sitting on the chair opposite to the couch, he asked with concern, "Now tell me why are you two here? Is everything alright or is there something troubling you?" As Kayara, Sophie and Anna had been studying there for two years, they were very close to Prof. Christin. His friendly nature with students helped them to build this student teacher friendship. He was like a close kin to them. "No, there's nothing sir. W…we actually, I..." Kayara stuttered, as she didn't know what excuse she should give to the professor in front of Anna. If she casually told prof. that they were here to meet him, it would directly prove that she didn't have anything to discuss with professor. And she didn't have anything to discuss with him as it was purely an excuse. "Actually sir, we came to the University with Sophie as she had some pending paperwork," Anna took over, "She's busy at the principal office. So Kayara suggested that we should come here and visit you while we waited. And here we are. Right, Kayara?" She explained everything swiftly in one breath and flashed an assuring smile at Kayara. "Oh that's good then." Prof. Christin said. 'Why is she making an excuse on my behalf when she was the one supposed to pull my leg?' Kayara thought. Kayara was shocked with Anna's sudden explanation. She soon collected herself and nodded, "Yeah, she's right sir. When we came here, you were busy so we waited outside for sometime." "Hmm... They were Mr. Alexander and his younger brother Jacob. You know those some college complaint formalities." The old man joked. "Jacob, he studies in our university?" Anna asked. "Yeah, psychology department. But he barely attend the college classes." the professor answered. "Leave it and tell me what will you like to have? coffee or tea?" "No.. no.. thank you, sir. But we're fine." Anna refused politely. After half an hour of friendly conversations with their beloved Professor, Anna and Kayara took their leave. The moment they came out of the office Kayara said to Anna in an apologetic tone, "Umm... sorry Anna." "For what?" Anna asked confused. "Umm... Because I lied to you." the girl said apologetically. "Ahh…chill." Anna waved her hand. Meanwhile, Kayara forgot the apology instantly and started blaming her own friend with a loud tone, "But it was all because of you. You were the one who forced me into this. If you had agreed without any argument then there would have been no need for me to make an excuse. You know very well that I would do anything to go out especially with you two," she huffed dramatically. Putting every blame on Anna's shoulders. "Wohooo my friend," Anna clapped seeing the tantrums of Kayara. "Have you heard that proverb 'the pot calling the kettle black'? That suits this situation very exactly. Literally you're blaming me for that. I was asking you to stay home for your own good." After a short pause, Anna said, "Leave it. And for your kind information, I already knew that you were making an excuse to come with us." "Seriously..?" Kayara raised her eyebrows in mild surprise. Ignoring her unspoken question, "Tell me one thing, the guy who encountered us before was Alexander Smith, right?" Anna looked at Kayara with growing excitement. She already knew the answer to her question as she had seen his pictures on his social media account before, but still, she wanted direct confirmation from Kayara before she jumped to conclusions. "Didn't you already see his photos? Yeah, the i***t who bumped into me was Alexander Smith. Blind and stupid bartender," Kayara huffed in anger. "Oh chill Kayara, why are you behaving like an angry little birdie?" Anna teased her. "You tell me, from what perspective of his behavior does he look like the great businessman and president of AK Corporations? He's a big flirt." she argued. "Hmm…you are right." Anna agreed, remembering their banter in front of the office. "I can't seem to wrap my head around what Sophie even saw in that i***t," Kayara sighed as she really could not solve this equation. "Hey, he's a handsome and sexy guy. One would be a silly girl to reject a treasure like that. And…" Anna hesitated before speaking, "I liked his cool behavior too. I bet that he can make anyone smile easily." Anna explained with a wide smile on her face. Kayara narrowed her eyes unbelievingly at Anna's reaction. "Handsome?? Sexy?? I didn't know you had the same bad taste as Sophie. And smile? That face of his only makes me frustrated in a second." "Oh is that how it is now? I have bad taste, huh? Bad taste in what, Kayara?" A third voice spoke from near them. Kayara and Anna had been so busy arguing about Alex that they hadn't realised they had reached the lawn and Sophie was actually standing right in front of them, listening to their conversation.
