Everything Reminds Me Of You.

Kayara stared at her friend's calm sleeping face. She caressed her cheeks gently with the tips of her shaking fingers. "Don't scare me like this, stupid," Kayara said in low voice. She became very nervous and disturbed when she saw Sophie in that condition. She was scared to the death. But when the doctor said that everything was fine, she had breathed out a sigh of relief. She laid on the bed beside Sophie and before she knew it, God of Sleep called her for a deep sleep. When Anna went to Sophie's room after sending away the doctor, she found both her friends sleeping peacefully. She smiled faintly and covered them both with a blanket up to their chests and quietly left the room without making any sound. Two hours later, when Kayara opened her eyes, she realized that she had slept with Sophie for this long. She slowly got up from the bed making sure not to disturb her friend's sleep. As she was about to leave the room, her eyes fell on something. That black diary. She went to Sophie's study table and picked up her diary. She turned to look at Sophie and asked herself, 'Why did Sophie get so upset about us reading this diary? Nothing else had made her react like this. What's inside really? Should I read it?' She looked at the diary again and caressed it with her hand. The diary was black with some white letters written on it. The words 'Mystery of My Life' were written on it in big bold letters. As Kayara was about to open the diary, a low broken voice stopped her. "Don't open it, please." It was Sophie. She had opened her eyes just a minute before. A few seconds ago, Sophie's eyes had fluttered open while Kayara was busy looking at the diary. Due to excess light in the room, she could not open her eyes completely. But after blinking them a few times she adjusted her eyes according to the light in the room. The first thing she saw was Kayara standing at the study table holding her diary in her hands. 'No. I need to stop her,' was all Sophie could think of. Upon hearing Sophie's voice, Kayara placed the diary back on the table and turned to face her. She went to Sophie and sat next to her on one corner of the bed. "You awake? How is your health now?" She asked Sophie. "Hmm…I'm fine," Sophie managed to give a light smile. Kayara stood up and headed towards the door, "Wait here. I am going to get some food for you so that you can take your medicines after." "Okay. I'll take a shower meanwhile." Kayara nodded and left the room. She wanted to ask Sophie what kind of things were in her diary, were they so bad or so secret that she couldn't show it to her own best friend? But then Kayara realized this was a conversation for another time. Right now Sophie's health was top priority. Walking out of the room, she took a long breath and walked towards the kitchen. To her surprise, Anna had already served food. "How is she feeling now?" Anna asked, handing a plate to Kayara. "She's fine. Have you had your dinner?" "How can I eat without the both of you?" "Come then, let's eat," Kayara smiled. ..... While the trio ate their simple dinner inside their small house, back in the mansion, it was nothing less of an extravagant feast. The servants were serving food to everyone. Old man Mr. Smith was seated at the head of the table. Jacob sat on the left side of the old man and Mrs. Smith next to her younger son. When the old man did not see Alex there, he asked Jacob, "Where is your elder brother? Is he not having dinner?" Jacob replied with his mischievous smile, "No Grandpa, your grandson seems to be very embarrassed of me these days. If he had eaten here he would have suffered from indigestion. That's why he has been ordered to be served in his room." The old man looked at the chief servant for an answer. The servant respectfully bowed down and humbly replied, "Yes Master, the third master has asked to send his food to his room." "Hmm," Old man nodded in acknowledgement and started to dig into his food. "Grandpa, you should not worry about my elder brother, he is a grown man." Hearing him, Mrs. Smith asked, raising her eyebrows, "Tell me, what mischief have you done to irritate him like this? I am damn sure it is related to you." "Mother, I did nothing," Jacob whined and pouted in reply. "Oh really?" she asked, not believing it. She too knew her son's antics all too well. "Yes. Why would I lie to you?" Jacob gave a firm answer. Mrs. Smith twisted Jacob's ear and asked, "Now, tell me why you bothered him." Jacob tilted his head in pain, "Ahh…mother it's hurting. Leave my ear....aahh..." Jacob yelled. "Okay, sorry...so sorry. Now I will not annoy him further. Trust me." Mrs Smith let go with a small smile and they continued their dinner. At the end of the dinner, "But mom, you should be more aware about your elder son's doings. Soon, it will not be me who will annoy him anymore." Jacob said to his mother and fled away. Olivia saw his son fleeing away from her and shook her head in amusement, not getting the meaning of her son's word. ..... The great Alex was sitting on the couch in front of the laptop in his room, preparing for tomorrow's meeting. A sudden knock at the door distracted him. "Come in," he ordered without looking up as if he already knew who would have come. A servant came inside with a plate of food in his hands. "Master, your dinner?" He asked. "Yes, put it there," Alex said nodding, pointing to the coffee table in the room. The servant placed the plate on the coffee table and started serving food. As soon as he finished his work, he looked at a coffee mug kept on the table with leftover cold coffee in it. Alex stood up from the couch to have the dinner which had been served on the coffee table by his man. The servant didn't sense him coming behind him and picked up the coffee and turned around. And... Bump!! "Oh! Sorry Master! I didn't do it on purpose," the servant bowed regretfully after he bumped into him. Alex's shirt was now splattered with dirty coffee stains, just like that time back in the restaurant. Seeing the all too familiar condition of his clothes, a sweet and bright smile shone on Alex's face. When the servant saw his stern boss smiling without any reason, his legs trembled. He had never seen his master smiling like that before, especially when they made a mistake. He almost thought Alex had turned sadistic. "Ma…master, I will have them washed. Please change the clothes," said the servant mustering up some courage. "There's no need. You can leave." Alex replied brightly. Hearing this, the servant ran out of the room in flash as if the God of Death was chasing him. He looked at his clothes once more and went to the bathroom with the same lovely smile. "I met you for the first time in this same condition." He mumbled seeing himself in the big mirror of the bathroom. "See what you have done to me. Now everything reminds me of you." Alex smiled widely and ran his hand through his hair.
