.....
It had been 15 minutes since Alex left.
Jacob was still standing there like an obedient and responsible man and watching the beautiful lady on the couch with full concentration. He looked like he was on a mission of solving some tough unsolved physics equations.
He had enough reason to do that, because in the past twenty two years of his life he had never seen his brother with any girl.
Suddenly, Kayara's hand slipped down which pulled Jacob's attention out from the mission. She was now in an uncomfortable position with one hand dangling off the couch. Jacob bent to pick it up and place it on her belly so that she would be comfortable again.
"Stay away from her, you bastard. You touch her and I'll cut you," a warning voice stopped him midway. Before Jacob could react, Sophie tossed him away from her friend. "Are you thinking of taking advantage of her drunkenness? I would have killed you if you had touched my Kayara."
"Miss, I think you misunderstood me. I do not have any ill intentions. I was just helping her to be comfortable."
Sophie scoffed distastefully, "Helping her? I know what you men think and all your "intentions". I know you guys like the back of my hand. Don't try to be so smart. Get lost from here before I lose my control," she warned him.
Jacob shrugged at Sophie's attitude, but he left without saying anything because he didn't want to create any drama on his grandfather's birthday.
"Silly girl," Sophie looked at Kayara and let out a deep sigh.
She half-carried her outside the party hall and after arranging a cab, she called Anna to inform her that she and Kayara were leaving. They left the hotel after explaining the whole situation to Anna.
...
"Jacob, why are you here? I told you to wait with her until I return!" Alex asked his brother, when he found him roaming here and there like a jobless creature.
"Ugh... brother, do you know because of you I was just called a bastard. I just lost my life a while ago. You are too heartle-" Jacob began lamenting before Alex interrupted him.
"Where is she?"
"She left. One of her friends took her. But her friend…damn, she was like a bomb, which blasted on your cute, innocent little brother," he whined, "She was like a lady devil. And you, are you my real brother? I'm here losing my dignity and you are still worried about that girl," Jacob looked like he was about to cry.
Alex, who knew his brother very well, turned to leave, ignoring him and his daily antics.
"Listen big bro...Okay, I'll not irritate you anymore. I just want to know who that lady was. Do you like her? Is she my to-be sister-in -law?" He overtook Alex and stood in front of him, blocking his way.
Knowing how indigestive and gossiping nature his brother had, Alex chose to divert the topic, "Don't run your rusted mind. I don't even know her name. It was just that her friend asked me for help to watch over her, as she had an emergency. It's our grandpa's birthday party so I didn't want to disappoint any guest, especially a lady, that's why I helped her." A perfect excuse. Alex seemed to be the king in this area, twisting the truth to cover up his actions. He was a cunning business man after all and knew very well how to play with words.
"Oh, is that so? You mean you don't have any liking towards her...right? "Jacob smirked lightly, not quite buying it. He had known his brother for twenty two long years.
"Hmm. You are right. I don't."
"Thank God, I still have some chances," he said pretending to keep his voice low but it was completely audible to Alex.
"What did you say?" Alex raised his brow.
"Did I say something? No brother, I didn't say anything to you. I was just talking to my God," Jacob giggled.
"You seems interested in these stuffs more than your studies. Can't you focus on your studies? " Alex said in a lecturing voice. " Anyway stay away from that girl or I'll..."
"Whom are you talking about, brother? From whom should I stay away?" Jacob asked innocently.
"That girl who was unconscious, the same one for whom I left you to look after."
"But why?" Jacob grinned, when he saw his brother got trapped in his net.
"Because.... she already have a boyfriend." Alex blabbered out in haste.
" And how did you know that? Did you do a background check on her?" Jacob questioned again with a frown.
Alex glared at his brother, " Why would I do that? I heard her murmuring about her boyfriend in her unconscious state."
Jacob knew that his brother was not telling him the complete truth. He knew his brother and his nature very well. Alexander the great helping a lady just for the sake of grandpa's party? Impossible!
'You're truly a businessman with great mind of twisting plots with mere words.' Jacob thought.
" Oh, is that so? But nevermind big bro, I was thanking God that you don't have any liking for Kayara's friend. Because if it would be like that, then I had no chance in her life," the young man continued his innocent charade.
"Who Kayara?" Alex frowned.
"Oh...that means you really don't know her name. Kayara, the girl who was drunk and the friend of that lady devil whom you helped and the one....." Jacob halted his explanation when his phone dinged with a notification.
He checked the message before saying, "Sorry brother, I have to go now, my friends are waiting for me at the cafe. Let's talk about it later. Bye," he ran outside without waiting for a reply.
Alex was frozen in place as he looked at his younger brother trot away.
"K.A. Y. A. R. A." Alex murmured, feeling her name on his lips. He flashed his sexy smile at this strange feeling growing in his chest. And then, he went to attend the guests.
