Chapter 5: Drunken regrets

Natasha

I woke up in the morning and almost had a panic attack as the night before replayed in my head. Oh. My. God. I’d told Kai I loved him! I sat up in the bed, heart pounding. Ok, it was ok, I was drunk, he would just assume it was random drunk talk right? Yeah, it would be fine.

Dread filled my whole body as I remembered I then tried to kiss him. Ugh! I flopped back down onto the bed, how could I face him after that! So far, I’d only convinced him how immature I was, he’d come to a party full of twenty-something year olds acting like a bunch of i.diot teens, and then to top it off, oh god no! He’d seen me do the chicken dance!

My life was over. I threw the covers over my head and stayed under them until mum came knocking on my door. “Come and have breakfast!”

Groaning I got up. I pulled on some black leggings and a team Jacob twilight t-shirt, it was a bit of an inside joke, you know, because team werewolf, and I was a werewolf? Ha, no? Just me that found that funny?

I looked down at it and realised I probably wasn’t helping my case of winning Kai by wearing immature tops. I tore it off and put on a long sleeved baby blue top instead. Opening my door I tip toed down the stairs and looked around making sure Kai wasn’t there, when the coast was clear I went down and joined the others.

I grabbed a plate of bacon, sausages, scrambled egg, pancakes and started to eat. Dad put more food on my plate. “You need to eat properly, you’re a werewolf, and it’s important you keep the wolf well fed.”

Grumbling, I ate the food, I was halfway done when Kai walked in. Panicking I screamed making him along with everyone else frown at me as I got up and ran off to my room like the coward a.ss werewolf I was.

“Uh, I’ll go check on her,” Kai said from downstairs. No! I looked out my window wondering if I could jump it, I probably could, werewolves were pretty tough and it was only the first floor. I almost got it open and then he walked in.

“Kai!” I jumped and spun around.

“That’s me,” he drew the words out slowly, giving me a confused look.

“What do you want?” I asked.

Maybe while he was distracted talking, I could do a header out the window and hope for the best.

“Wondering why you’re acting so weird, I don’t think I’ve ever had a girl scream in terror at the sight of me before.”

I tried to laugh it off. “Oh, no, I just uh, well, you know, uh…” I trailed off unable to come up with a reason as to why I screamed at the sight of him like a prat.

He stepped towards me and lowered his voice so the others wouldn’t overhear. “If it’s about what you said last night, don’t worry about it, you were drunk and people say all kinds of stupid s.hit when they’re drunk.”

I looked at him warily, and then he ruffled my hair and grinned. “Come on, let’s go down, I’m taking you to college today, gotta stay there until you finish too.”

“What! You’re just going to sit in your car like a weirdo?”

“Yep,” he grinned.

He wasn’t kidding either, he dropped me off, and I thought he’d leave, I almost forgot all about it as I chatted with Cody and Toby about the party and then had to come up with some excuse about a family member being ill, which was why I’d had to leave so early.

When I came out of class there he was, still in the car and scrolling through his phone while he waited for me.

“That must have been boring,” I said, sitting down and slamming the door shut.

“f***k! Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! Where’d you come from?” He said, sounding a little out of breath.

“Pfft, come on Kai, you’re a werewolf you should have heard and smelt me a mile away, what were you doing that had you so distracted?”

“Nothing!” He shoved his phone in his pocket and started the engine.

“That nothing a girl was it?” I asked in a mock suspicious voice.

“Pfft, no, maybe, alright fine sheesh, quit staring at me like that!”

I laughed and sat back in my seat.

“Can you turn the heating on? It’s so freaking cold for June,” I said.

He turned it on and as we drove home, I could have sworn I saw a little frost on one of the lamp posts. Nah.

When we got back, we had dinner and Kai asked, “do you want to go for a run?”

“Everyone?”

“Nah, just me and you.”

“Ok,” I smiled and felt my cheeks heat.

We raced one another across the field to the forest, laughing and pushing. When we got there, we found our own spots to change. Kai waited patiently for me, I always took longer than everyone else.

I padded out to him and liked how he looked, he was a very handsome wolf, he had gorgeous honey gold fur like his hair and his familiar grey eyes looked back at me.

One moment we were looking at one another and the next he bit my nose and ran off. I chased after him and caught up managing to jump on his back and tackle him to the ground, we rolled and fought, tumbling across the floor in a frenzy of snapping jaws and teeth, I bit his ear and he bit my tail, I bopped his nose with my paw, and he pinned me underneath him.

I wriggled out and ran, he chased me, I tripped over a log and landed awkwardly, hurting my front paw as it bent. I yelped in pain, and Kai skidded to a stop beside me. He whined softly at me, his way of asking where I was hurt, I licked my paw, and he gently snuffled it, checking for injury then he started licking it trying to soothe me.

I whined softly and he nuzzled my neck and face. He licked the side of my face and ran off. He returned half an hour later carrying a limp rabbit in his mouth. It dangled as he padded over towards me, and then he dropped it at my feet. I nuzzled him in thanks and started eating the rabbit.

He went and caught his own and when we were done eating he laid down beside me laying his head on his paws, pressed up so closely against me our faces were touching.

We took a nap, and then we went for a run after, I couldn’t run for long as my paw hurt, I must have twisted it. Kai bumped his body alongside mine and I licked his face.

He licked my muzzle to be affectionate, but I licked him back, and we ended up licking one another’s mouths and tongues. Kai backed off, and I blushed inside, how embarrassing, I’d just wolf kissed him, my first kiss, and it had been as a wolf. I looked down at the floor, and he gently rubbed his forehead against mine, letting me know it was ok.

We played around for a bit longer, I think we both wanted to make the situation less awkward. When we were ready to change back, I stepped on a leave that crunched underneath my paw, I looked down and saw there was frost covering it. How strange, it was June, and we shouldn’t have had frost this time of year.

My paw felt cold, and I licked it, Kai came over and snuffled my paw and looked at me wondering what was up. I touched my paw to the leaf, and he looked at it head tilted, he went to lick it and I knocked him off balance with my head.

He growled and then tipped his head towards the start of the forest, indicating for us to change back. It took a while to learn all the cues and communication in wolf form, we didn’t have any telepathic superpowers or anything, so we had to mostly communicate like real wolves did.

We changed back and Kai stepped out with his white shirt unbuttoned, I tried so hard not to stare at his perfect muscular body. He pulled his collar up and when I frowned, he smiled, “hot.”

That’s when I noticed the light sheen of sweat on his chest. The change was a painful process, and it always left us feeling sweaty after, that along with the adrenaline rush the change gave. I tried to concentrate and asked, “why was there frost on that leaf?”

“Not sure, probably just a freak cold spell or something, hardly surprising for England, it’s more shocking if it’s actually hot here,” he laughed.

He was right and I laughed too. Dropping his arm over my shoulders, he led us back towards the house. We went inside to find mum and dad messing around on the floor, fighting to pin one another, dad almost had her until she managed to get her knee up and kneed him in the stomach and threw him off.

She quickly straddled him and pinned his wrists down above his head. “I win,” she grinned.

“I think we both win this one darling,” he grinned up at her, rubbing his crotch against hers.

I coughed and dad practically threw mum off him and jumped to his feet, leaving her sprawled on the floor. Annoyed, she kicked out at his legs making him tumble to the floor beside her and decked him in the arm.

“f***k! You’re so violent!” He yelped.

I choked on a laugh and tried to stay in serious mode as I tutted at them. “So childish, and so rude of you, father, I’m disappointed.” I closed my eyes and shook my head, then walked away with Kai laughing and following behind me.

I heard dad getting to his feet, help mum up, and then he rushed in to me. “What did you see?”

“I saw you fighting.”

“That’s it?”

“I saw mum win.”

“But nothing else, right?” He sounded flustered.

“Oh, you mean you humping mum and trying to tempt her into s**x? Yes, I saw that.”

I think he had a small heart attack, he almost choked on his own saliva and rubbed his chest as if he could calm his racing heart.

“Uh, I wasn’t doing that at all, I was just trying to cuddle her.”

“Dad, I’m an adult now, you don’t need to sugar coat s**x for me.”

“Jesus Christ, can you please stop using me and the word s**x in the same f.ucking sentence.”

I finally let out my burst of laughter, and he glared at me. “You shouldn’t even know what s**x is.”

“I’m a grown woman now!”

“Yeah, a very virgin and innocent grown woman.”

“Am I?”

His jaw dropped and mum’s eyes widened, even Kai looked at me as if I was some kind of alien.

Finally, dad managed to ask, “who?”

“What?”

“Who was the guy?”

“Oh, I didn’t say I DID lose my virginity, calm down.”

The whole room breathed a sigh of relief, and I mentally rolled my eyes. I was glad when the attention on me turned to Leo and Amber as they came down the stairs, Amber was walking weird. “Leo f.ucked you that good, did he?” Kai grinned at her.

Mum cuffed the side of his head.

“What the hell!” He rubbed his head, looking up at her confused.

“Don’t talk like that in front of Natasha.”

“Pfft, you heard the lady, she’s a grown woman.” She went to cuff him again, and he quickly ducked lifting his arms up to block her.

Amber was all flustered and quickly sat down, then winced. Kai noticed, he noticed everything. “Sore? Leo must be f.ucking huge.”

She glared at him, but he only winked at her in return.

“Making a baby requires a lot of s**x,” Leo said sitting down.

“Holy s.hit, you guys want a baby?” Kai asked.

“Amber smiled shyly and nodded. Mum hugged her. “I’m happy for you guys,” she grinned.

“Don’t get too excited I’m not pregnant yet,” Amber laughed.

“S.hit, that means I won’t be able to play rough with you,” dad said.

Amber grinned at him, “sure you will.” She got up and punched him in the arm so hard I heard the thump.

“f***k me!” He yelped, rubbing his arm.

“I’ve got Leo for that,” she teased.

“Ew, I didn’t mean…” he trailed off and started making gagging noises, then grabbed her into a headlock.

Pfft, and we called ourselves adults.
