Kai
Things had been a little rocky between me and Natasha as we tried to get back to how we had been before the whole Claire thing, we still argued sometimes, and if it wasn’t about Claire, then it was about other women, whether that be ex lovers of mine or the fact I was still a stripper, Claire had only made Natasha even more insecure and worried.
She was so much like Grayson it was funny, she just could not wrap her head around the idea that anyone would want to just have s**x with one another and nothing more, to her, being with someone was how it was supposed to be and should be, and I guess growing up with parents that had the most epic love story she wanted the same, she believed in the whole fairy tale true love thing.
Me being me made her anxious, I wasn’t like Grayson, my first time wasn’t with Natasha, I had a long, very long, history of lovers, I was well known for being a big flirt and my job sure didn’t help to settle her nerves. I wasn’t the fairy tale prince with perfect morals and happily ever after written in my future and that scared her, no matter how much I tried to tell her otherwise.
The insecurities she definitely got from Lara, but the fierce possessiveness and sense of loyalty was all Grayson, I liked it though, even if it caused arguments between us, I liked knowing how much she cared, that she loved me so much that she couldn’t bear the thought of me with anyone else.
We finally had s**x after a month of nothing but dating and light kissing, and it had been amazing.
We cuddled for a while as I knew she really liked that, when we were ready, we cleaned up, got dressed and went out to have lunch together.
Honestly, I don’t know what I had done, a waitress came over to us, took our order and Natasha was convinced I was flirting and staring at the waitress.
She playfully shoved my shoulder and her tone sounded annoyed when she said, “quit staring at her!”
I frowned and gave her a side look, “uh, I wasn’t staring at her, I gave her my order.”
“You were staring.”
“Be a bit rude if I ordered with my eyes shut, and odd.”
“Not funny,” she said, narrowing her eyes at me.
“I didn’t realise it was a joke.”
“Kai!”
I spread my arms wide and asked, “what? What the hell have I done?”
“You kept checking her out, and you told her you really liked her hair, then you winked at her, she practically skipped away thinking you like her.”
“Pfft, bulls.hit, I didn’t flirt, I just said her hair was nice, and I did not wink.”
“You one hundred percent did wink.”
“Did not.”
“Did!”
“Did not.”
“Ha, and there I thought Kai was all scary now, good to know you’re still just a big pup arguing like a kid with Tasha.”
We both turned to see Charlie stood there with some pretty red head on his arm.
“Why would your friend be scary?” The red head asked.
“Don’t worry, babe, it’s just an inside joke kind of thing. Come on.”
I gave him a dirty look, and he smirked in response.
The waitress came back over with our food and drink and now Natasha had brought it up, I did notice she was very pretty, slim and petite with long legs, dark blonde hair tied into a low ponytail that fell over one shoulder, softly curled. She was wearing the typical attire of uniform for this restaurant, a white shirt tucked into a tight small pencil skirt.
She noticed my gaze traveling over her body and she blushed, she slipped me a napkin and I looked down to see she had written her number on it for me.
I gave her a small smile and waited for her to walk away before looking over to a glaring Natasha. “Ok, fair enough, I probably did flirt or act inappropriate, I’m really sorry if I did, it’s just habit, not just dating but working as a stripper, you know part of my job is to flirt and compliment the ladies, to make them feel good.”
“Funny how your habit only appears around hot, pretty girls,” she replied sarcastically.
“It doesn’t,” I replied.
“Sure,” she rolled her eyes and I grew frustrated, I leaned over to the table behind me with an elderly lady and her elderly friend.
“Sorry to bother you ladies, could I borrow some salt?”
“Of course,” the one closest to me smiled and passed me the salt.
I winked at her and grinned, “thanks, beautiful.”
It left her blushing and I turned back to Natasha, “see.”
“You’re such a sarcastic d.ick,” she mumbled.
“Cheers babe, love you too.”
She kicked me under the table and I grabbed my shin and growled, “what the f***k was that for!”
“Being sarcastic again.”
“I wasn’t! I do love you, for f***k sake.”
I scraped my chair back before she could strike again, but it was loud and drew the attention of everyone.
“Sorry,” I grinned to the room.
We both ate the rest of our meal in silence and when we were done Natasha saw the napkin with the number on it.
“What the hell is that!” She asked.
“The waitress gave it to me, I don’t know why.”
“Of course, it had nothing to do with you flirting and winking at her,” she muttered.
“I didn’t wink at her!”
She kicked me under the table again and I winced. “f***k, not so sweet and shy anymore are you, you’re as aggressive as your mother.”
“I can’t afford to be shy and sweet around you, or you’ll be flirting with every girl left right and centre, and god knows what else.”
“You’re so dramatic.”
I scrunched up the napkin and threw it on the plate of leftover food. “Why are you so bothered, you know I wouldn’t take it.”
We left the restaurant I think to the relief of everyone still in there, Natasha grew quiet as we walked, she slipped her hand in mine and I inwardly smiled, it wasn’t often she got mad or annoyed, but when she did, she could never stay like it for long.
We got back to mine and I got a text message, Natasha looked at me and said, “don’t tell me that’s the waitress?”
“What? No, you’re so paranoid! I haven’t been interested in anyone since you, I swear!” I grabbed my phone in anger and threw it on the floor, then I stamped on it, smashing it and destroying it.
“I’ll get a new one, and you can f.ucking add the numbers and contacts you want me to have on it so you know I’m not talking to anyone you don’t know about!”
“That was a bit dramatic,” she mumbled.
I let out a breath and muttered, “yeah, it was, sorry.”
She snorted a laugh as we both looked at one another and then we both burst into laughter, neither one of us were the angry types really, and it was never long before we were giggling like i.diots again.
She grabbed my hand and still breathless from laughing she said, “I’m the one who should be apologising, my insecurities are my own to deal with, and it isn’t fair of me to take them out on you. I’m sorry.”
I shook my head and grabbing the back of her head I pulled her to me and kissed her forehead. “No, love, you have every right to feel the way you do, with my track record on top of the line of work I do of course you’d be insecure.”
“Plus, you are way out of my league, you’re so pretty and masculine and hot and—”
“Stop that, you are beautiful, Tasha and I love you so much.”
I wrapped her in my arms and held her tight, she looked up at me with her chin on my chest and said, “but—” I cut her off with a kiss, and she finally gave into the compliments and the affections.
Things slowly started to get better between us, we argued less, and it helped when my boss finally found someone to replace me at the strip club.
Grayson needed an assistant, I guess you could say a nurse of sorts, but f***k was I calling myself that, he was training me up alongside some real training on my part, if I was to work or help with any human patients then I needed the proof I was actually qualified.
The good thing about studying was that Natasha and I could go to college together, hang out at breaks and drive home together, the downside was there was a little more bickering again between us because of the amount of attention I got from girls, I was always being ogled at or asked out with or without Natasha standing right beside me, some of these girls had no shame I swear, it was like Natasha just didn’t exist to them.
I think a month passed by like this, and perhaps she had finally been with me long enough to grow a little used to the attention I received, but she slowly started to if not enjoy it, then be proud, her words not mine, apparently she started to feel proud to have such a good looking mate, and she felt blessed that I had chosen her, we were stood outside on a break when she said it and I grinned.
“Kai, are you blushing?” She laughed.
“f***k off, no I’m not.”
“You are!” She grinned and grabbing my face kissed my cheeks.
“Down woman!” I laughed, tugging her away from me.
“I think this is only the second time that maybe I’ve seen you blush, why?”
Smiling I shook my head and said, “why wouldn’t I? The most beautiful woman with the kindest heart feels as blessed as I do to have you in my life.”
She made a pouty face and I knew she was about to coo and smother me in kisses, but someone else interrupted.
“It’s Kai right?”
Both Natasha and I turned to see some pretty brunette looking at me. I took in her long dark curly hair, hazel eyes and curvy figure. “Uh, yeah that’s me, wait, you’re Courtney, right?”
She beamed at me nodding, “yes! We have class together.”
“Ah, I remember.”
She smiled wider and when I didn’t say or add anything else to the conversation she grew a little flustered, I watched as she smoothed down her curve hugging black dress anxiously, and then she licked her lips and said, “well anyway, I just came over as I was going to grab something from the cafeteria and I wondered if you wanted to join me?”
I think Natasha had finally had enough of watching me being asked out all the time, she slipped her arm through mine and cuddled up against my side. I inwardly smiled at her subtle attempt to lay her claim on me, I helped her out and dropped my arm around her shoulders and replied to Courtney, “I promised my girlfriend I would spend my break with her, sorry.”
She mumbled a few awkward apologies and quickly scuttled away, after that, Natasha grew more brave, and whenever someone so much as looked in my direction, she would grab my face and pull me down for a kiss making it obvious I was not a free man. “I love when you claim me in front of others,” I grinned against her lips.
