Lana’s POV
I tried as hard as I could to get the work I had laid out in front of me done but all attempts to do that proved futile as I got distracted by the slightest sound.
I took a look at the old raggedy wall clock and I watched as the seconds ticked by. I really need to get to work and I have to finish up before I get to the training ground.
I walked around the house as I shoved everything in the right places. I really can’t afford to be late to training, I sighed when I finished, taking a look at the room and smiling to myself proudly.
The day was getting darker and I took in the fresh air as I stepped outside. At least the day will soon be over and I won’t have to go through the same insults I go through everyday, but that will only be until tomorrow.
I made my way slowly to the training ground and I couldn’t help but think about my best friend. She was the only one that really seemed to get me and now she moved out of the pack and that could only mean one thing.
I’m going to be lonely, especially now that I haven’t found my mate.
I got to the training ground and I heard the usual taunt I usually hear, “hey look, it’s the useless wolf that doesn’t turn.” A voice called and I gritted my teeth against each other.
I made my hand into a fist as I tried to control my anger, neither of these things happening was their fault because they were right.
I am an Omega wolf, I do have a wolf but it’s really difficult to believe especially when it never comes out during training so I’m basically almost human, the rest of the pack thinks I am wolfless.
The pack may have shunned me but there are a few people that never entertained the idea, especially my best friend. Before she left the pack she would tell me that I was a late bloomer and that it happens so I should calm down and my wolf would come out soon.
I have always tried my best to believe it until now, I’m 19 and still haven’t wolfed it out and worse, I haven’t found my mate. Most get their wolves at fourteen and later but mostly earlier.
Wolfing out is like hitting puberty and although I hit that really good, other important things managed to run over me and just skip me. My wolf probably thinks I don’t need it.
The trainer blew on his whistle and we all soon got to training as we all tried to hunt and do the tasks that were required of us to do but as usual, I was the only one with the most useless catch and the most useless skills.
“What are you doing here?” A voice shouted at me and before I knew it a stone had hit me on my head, it wasn’t a really hard hit but it was hard enough to make me bleed.
I winced in pain as I lifted my hand to touch my forehead and I felt my blood. I brought down my hand and cleaned the blood off with my dress.
“You shouldn’t even be here, you useless one.” Another voice added and I only groaned. It wasn’t new but I’d thought and always held out hope that one day these sufferings and pain would stop but it seemed like the moon goddess was against me because it never stops.
If my best friend was here, she would have stood up for me and I knew I wouldn’t have to deal with being a pushover because she was always there to support me whenever I needed it.
The departure of my friend caused me to live my life in solitude. I will always go to the training ground alone and walk back alone all the time and all of these times I always have to deal with being bullied and insulted.
I tried to lift up the heavy stone even though I knew I couldn’t, I was challenging myself to do it. I groaned as I garnered all my weight and mustered up all the strength I had in me to lift it up but to no avail.
‘Please, please, please.’ I begged silently and profusely as if the stone would listen to me but it didn’t even budge and I just gave up as I fought to catch my breath.
The tasks are harder than I thought there would be. First we had to hunt and I came back with my bunny. Secondly, we had to lift the heavy stones in front of us and well, I failed drastically in that one too.
I knew what the last task would be before we finally decided to go home and that was definitely the one I failed at the most, we would be asked to wolf out.
I sobbed silently as I tried my best again to lift the stone off the ground but just like the last time, I failed.
I lifted my gaze when the Epsilon got to me, he’s an adversary and can be called a general in other words, he goes to war and when he’s not on the war ground, he’s training by himself or training other wolves in the pack.
I looked into his eyes and I couldn’t miss the stare of disappointment, who wouldn’t be disappointed? The Omega rank is not a desirable rank.
We are the prey, the last on the food chain and no one cares about us, we’re to fend for ourselves and with no skill whatsoever, we are to take care of ourselves.
I looked away and he’d ordered that we move to the third phase of the training which is also the last phase. I knew that would be my moment of even more utter embarrassment and I braced myself as I prepared for it.
The training was over and I walked back home under the full moon. The howls in the pack were loud and for a moment, I held out hope that I would finally turn.
I separated myself from everyone and went where no one would see me, deep into the woods and for one last time I tried to force my wolf out. Groaning and trying to howl, I put all of my strength into it but I still didn’t wolf out.
I walked out of where I’d gone to hide and I saw people laughing at me, they probably saw me. Although it hurts, I tried to shrug it off as I made my way back home.
I was going home when I bumped into a figure. I tried to mutter an apology when he ordered that I lift my gaze, no one dared look at the Alphas eye to eye and I only knew he was an alpha because his pheromone caused me to fall on my knees.
“You.” He snarled and I thought he was angry at me.
Did I do something to him, did I anger him or get to the wrong side of him?
I lifted my gaze to see that I was in front of Alpha Dylan, the Alpha of Alphas!
“I… I’m..” I tried to speak but words failed me and everything I wanted to say got caught in my throat as I couldn’t find the right words to even apologise.
What he said next caused my heart to skip a beat. Alpha Dylan had been looking for me? What for? Why does he want me?
I couldn’t help but allow the questions to run through my mind as I thought about all the possible business an Alpha might want to have with an Omega like me.
Alpha Dylan had a reputation for being the most brutal and feared Alpha not only in our pack but in the world. He ruled the pack with great authority and you would be stupid to not be scared of him.
For a moment I thought he was my mate but I didn’t get any affirmation whatsoever of him being my mate and I just knew that that wasn’t it. It must’ve been something else.
I could hear my breathing pace and it seemed as though my heart would jump out of my chest as I kept my gaze fixed on the ground filled with ruffled leaves.
“Follow me!” He ordered. I looked around to see that I was getting a lot of stares from my pack members, some were looking at me disdainfully while the others gawked at Alpha.
Despite being a ruthless Alpha unlike the rest, he still had females falling head over heels for him and some would even kill to be able to warm his bed.
We got to the palace and he invited me into his private chambers. I feared for a while but what is the worst that could happen?
I got in and I did what I never believed I would’ve done, not in this lifetime but an Omega like me doesn’t get to have a choice or a say. “I want you to be my concubine.” He informed.
