POV: Nelson
Looking at the door, he just closed after him. Once the excitement had turned to grief, he wanted to know what hurt the woman who held the key to his heart. Somewhere in his heart prayed it was about her husband, as he wouldn't hesitate to take her away from him and make her his. He headed to the doctor's office to seek a solution. He wanted to share in her wounds, he found himself being selfless in her case.
Nelson explained himself to the doctor, reintroduced himself, seeking help in the girl's matter. The doctor, being a professional, asked him to get the police informed of the matter. Which was about what Nelson had been afraid of all this while.
“I will do my best, but it's better if you consult a psychologist,” said doctor Fred.
“No problem doc., as long as it helps her, I will implore you to take any measures you can exhaust.
He went back to Silvia's room. This time she was sitting down on her bed, which quite surprised him.
“ Are you okay?” he asked.
“Can I use the restroom?” Silvia said in a low tone that was difficult for Nelson to comprehend.
“If you need anything, I'll get it for you,” said Nelson, once again trying to get her to lay back on her bed.
“Will you get the toilet for me?” Silvia said, her voice igniting like a volume being turned on, which made Nelson's face redden.
“Sure, no problem, I'll help you,” he said, helping her rise to her feet into the restroom, a moment he could cherish for his lifetime. When he carried her back to her bed and laid her, Nelson sensed her eyes on him as he dressed her blanket.
“Is something wrong or are you hungry?” he asked.
“Who are you?”
“I had introduced myself before. It was my driver’s fault that you got injured, so it's my responsibility to look after you until you recover, since you don't want to give me your address, or tell your name, u would be staying in the hospital till then.” Nelson didn't know where this habit of talking more than needed in front of her came from.
“Can you help me, can you seek justice for me?”
Nelson saw trust in Silvia's eyes, eyes which he saw hatred were replaced with trust. He didn't know how to feel, but he knew he could do anything for the woman in his presence.
“Is it about your husband?”
She shook her head in total disagreement.
“My name is Silvia. Being a woman, I know you would refer to me as a married woman because of my condition. Even if you know I am still a teenager, I don't want to be like another girl who keeps quiet when injustice is done to them, so I will tell you, because I don't think I have anyone else to rely on,” Silvia said every word bit and bit, and Nelson listened keenly, he was feeling so special (Merlin)
“Finally,” he said as he was always eager to know what happened to her.
POV:Silvia
“Family wouldn't hurt you,” Silvia let the cat out of the bag. She decided not to be one of those that would keep quiet about their fate. She would have done it long before, if only she had someone like Nelson. She intended to put her life in his hands. The future will decide if she made a mistake.
“I was abused by my aunt's husband, which brought about this pregnancy. It'd been going on for about a year plus. Somewhere in her heart she wanted to speak up to her aunt, but she looked at Nelson and didn't see him as someone she could dive into her family issues with. Moreover, her aunt is carrying another life with her.
“It didn't stop there. He recently started bringing men to sleep with me, and he would get paid. He threatened me when I refused the second man, which led to my running away.”
Nelson got watery eyes, which quite surprised Silvia. Her tears were already dried up, no more left to shed.
“You feel sorry for me?”
“You didn't deserve such,” Nelson's words made Silvia release her short laugh.
“ Say that to my fate, you know nothing.
“So what do you want?”
“Anything the law has to offer”
“You have your aunt. Would you want to go back to her and tell her the situation?”
Silvia knew she would never want to go back to her aunt, who was, of course, her only family. She didn't have close friends, as she didn't know how to keep them.
“No”
“Are you scared she won't believe you? If it keeps you sane, I could take you to stay with your other family.”
Silvia looked at Nelson, her eyes square towards him.
“ Seems, I have only you now,” she said. It was obvious she didn't want to talk anymore as she faced her back against Nelson.
“First thing first, is to get rid of this baby,” Silvia thought to herself. She knew Nelson wasn't going to help her in that matter. He was, of course, a stranger to her.
“If a family could do such, a stranger couldn't do worse.”
“ You want to go home with me,” said Nelson, breaking the silence, as if he'd been meditating on her words, her back was still turned against him. Soon she heard the door close. She was left once again to her friend, the ceiling fan.
“The food I got earlier must have gotten cold by now, so I got another one. Hope you will eat now. Nelson said as soon as he walked in, breaking Silvia's tranquility.
“If hunger can kill it in my womb, then I am prepared to go hungry,” she said, not breaking the eye contact she had up there.
“What about regaining your strength to get justice? Of course, you wouldn't want to do that on the hospital bed? You asked for help from me, so please help me too, Silvia.”
Nelson said, his voice soft like a dad talking to his 2-year-old daughter.
“I'll eat it myself, just leave it there.
POV: Nelson
Looking at her through the curtain as she took spoonfuls of her food, he relaxed his mind,
And decided to attend to his phone, which had been ringing for a while.
“Son, where are you?” Mrs Gloria said at once as she answered the call
“ Mom, don't I have the right to my own adventure? I'll be back soon?”
“Arike isn't a happy son, she hasn't left the house, insisting on waiting for you.”
“Convince her mom, because I am not a hundred percent sure of my return today, and please take care of yourself. “
“Why not call her my lion? You have your way with her”
“I will, once I get the time,” said Nelson, which brought an end to the conversation.
Nelson looked in Silvia's direction, which brought a smile to his face before he headed out to the police station. He wasn't going to let the matter sleep over in his head. When he arrived, he issued a complaint and statement. He testified on Silvia's behalf, saying he was going to be a testifier of her pains and tears. He was told that they needed the presence of the victim and questions to be asked before they could arrest the guilty, which Nelson said he would comply with but said he would need some time as the lady was not in a good state for such questions, which he was given the week he asked for.
“It will be over soon, Sultana of my heart.”
“Yes, am Nelson?” said Nelson, responding to his call.
The patient in ward 5 is nowhere to be found. Did you, anyway, take her out?”
“What are you saying? I left her just a while ago on her bed”
Nelson couldn't comprehend, she was the one that sought his help. Where could she possibly go? A lot came into his mind as he drove to the hospital.
