POV:Silvia
Silvia had slept off last night to wake up late in the morning, a night that made her feel peace, just like the night before it. She prayed that it continue like that. She got out of her bed, did her morning business and headed out to help her aunt with the house chores, who she met full of smiles. Why won't she, after 7 years of childlessness, finally get rewarded for her patience
“Good morning Aunt, can I help you with anything?”
“ Yes dear, get my purse from my room.”
Fear took its place in Silver's heart, as she raised her legs one by one heading to her aunt's room, so was her heart beat. She knocked on the door waiting for a response.
“Come on in,” was the voice she dreaded most. Silvia pushed the door open in a way which seemed she didn't want to be seen.
“Oh, it is you, my dearest, how have you been coping without me? Have you come to complain?”
Despicable, she calls him in her mind.
“ I just….. Came…. to…. Get my aunt's purse,” Silvia said, she chewed her words bit by bit. Mr James handed over joy's purse to Silvia, then whispered to her ears.
“ Wait for me in your room this afternoon.” Her eyes reddened, she struggled to maintain her posture as she walked out of the room. She handed over the purse to her Aunt, who took her to get some foodstuffs for making lunch.
That afternoon, Silvia wished she had close friends. She had in her thoughts about visiting one of them at that hour. Her uncle would be back very soon, and her aunt usually returned home late in the evening, just when the door opened, she didn't want to look. She had long given up on what she called her fate, she was too weak to struggle and fight, she just laid her back down and waited.
“He said, right, you're quite obedient and beautiful?” An unfamiliar voice made Silvia jolt up to behold an unfamiliar face, a pot-bellied, average height man, with beards that could make up a garden.
“Who are you?” she asked with a hint of fear.
“ It doesn't matter baby girl, let’s just get to business.”
“What business would I have with you when I don't know you?”
"Didn't your owner tell you, you are to satisfy me today”
“What are you saying? I have no owner, you must be mistaking me for someone else”
“Aren’t Joy and James your owners? Come on young girl, I have already paid a huge amount of money for your time”
Are there words that would describe someone's self-respect being shattered? She felt like ash and dust as a man she didn't know caressed her and made her lay on the bed. What a fate. When the man was satisfied with what she called ‘flesh’, a cruel activity, he picked up his clothes and walked away. Silvia had lost herself, as she stood up, almost half naked, she wandered around the house.
“James, your girl is something else. She didn't even take care of me, I had to do all the work myself.”
“Mr Bello, she will come around. If you have her in your bed two to three times more, she'll feel comfortable with you, let's talk about my balance instead.
Silvia felt like ‘shi*t’, she was being discussed like a commodity, she blamed her fate on her parent's death. She walked to her room with 2x a boosted energy than she had before. She needed to go, she wanted to go, but where, let her fate decide that too.
“And what's going on here?” said that voice once again. She startled, her head bent low.
“I am leaving”
“To where?” James looked at her with a flabbergasted voice.
“Anywhere but here,” said Silvia, still on her bow.
“ Come on Silvia, daddy wants you, you have to satisfy me, we both know you have no where to go” He said, ‘her demon she calls him.’
Silvia, being an outspoken girl, becomes mute when it comes to her demon.
“Am you not your own, you have no right over me? I haven't told my aunt, as I don't want her to unhappy knowing the kind of man she married,“ Silvia said in a trembling tone.
“ Naive you, I come to your room almost every night, and you have no idea that it all occurs as to your aunt's consent “
Silvia let out a short laugh, this time her head lifted but not making eye contact.
“ You are lying, don't try to get my mother's sister involved in your sin.”
“ Don't upset me, Silvia, and just get in bed."
The main door opened, Silvia ran out, she sought a shield from her Aunt.
“ Aunt, please save me, save me from your husband. I have really endured a lot from his hands. He r***s me almost every day." She pleaded as soon as she saw her Aunt. Then dropped a bombshell
“James, what's the meaning of this? How many times will I remind you," I am already pregnant, you have no business sleeping with her anymore, let's just make money out of her?”
“It won't repeat itself, Babe,” said James as he kissed his wife's hand.
Silvia was left there speechless and shocked. She didn't understand, she didn't want to understand or believe.
“Come Silvia, help me in the kitchen."
Silvia fixed her eyes on her aunt.
“Why?” That word escaped like a tiny pair of air.
“ I will take care of you, Silvia. It is only wise that you take measures to help me out”.
Silvia walked slowly towards the door. She saw it as a gateway out of the surrounding darkness. Just then she was held back by James,
“You have nobody, Silvia, but I want to let you know that you shouldn't say any of these to the audience of anyone, if I find out, I'll kill you myself, now get back inside,” said James as he attempted to drag her back.
“Let go of me,“ Silvia said, for the first time, looking into James' eyes as those words came out, her tears flowed freely down her cheeks.
“Silvia, don't give us burdens. Where can you go? I am your only family, just do your part and I will do mine.”
Silvia, who was still being held by her uncle as she moved yet another step. She wanted to be free from his grip. Just then her hands got hold of a flower vase, her muscles took refuge from her pain and hatred that James fell to the ground. Joy screamed upon seeing her husband in that state. Just then, Silvia's legs got a massage from her brain: “RUN."
POV: Nelson
Nelson waited at the airport for the next flight, which was about late in the evening, as he couldn't miss the business meeting for anything tomorrow. He had missed his flight, why wouldn't he? When he had made himself fall deep into Arike's cloud last night, resulting in him waking up late. Soon he received a call. The caller informed him that the business trip had been postponed.
“See, bad incidents, sometimes are good,” Said Nelson as he dialed his driver's number to pick him up.
“Baby girl, come to my house, let's have a good time,” Nelson called his one and only girlfriend whom he has been with since he was 19 years old. How the years past, ‘5 years’ you could say love happened, but rather, it was their mom's relationship that joined both of them together, and he knew pretty well that they were already planning for their marriage, which his mother wouldn't miss a chance for him to take control of the foreign company which Nelson has in favor if he married Arike. As they say, ‘the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know ‘. Nelson knew Arike in and out, even her cheating syndrome. He had seen her countless times with different men, at a bar, a club. Although he didn't care about this, he sometimes pitted himself as if he would marry for ambitions not love.
“Sir, I think I ran someone over,” Nelson's driver said in anxiety.
“If you had not decided to lead me through this deserted area you call a shortcut, the traffic would have been regulated such, go and check out your mess,” said Nelson in a frustrating tone. The driver stepped out of the car, the sight he beheld worried him, which made him stammer, “Sir…” which made Nelson come down from the car, to see a lady, unconscious.
“Open the car,” instructed Nelson as he carried the lady in his arms into the car, they headed to the hospital . He didn't want any delay and excessive questions, so he introduced himself as her husband.
“I will sort that out later”, he said to himself.
“ You wait for me, I'll be back soon,” Nelson said and ended the call he had with Arike, who called to inquire about his whereabouts.
“Sir, are you a relative of the young lady?” asked doctor Fred.
“Yes doctor, I am her husband, please let what's her state.”
“She had dislocated her legs, but I have taken measures for her recovery. Thankfully, the baby was not affected.
“She's pregnant,” asked Nelson, wondering the type of situation he got himself into.
