"Sweet Sorrow"

In the city of New York, light shines brightly through the pane of the window with its ultra violet rays flashing right at Mrs Claudia closed frozen eyes. She coiled and shrugged,trying to get back to sleep but the day was too bright for sleepy heads like her. Suddenly a young man in black fitted suit,tall and muscular came on the bed softly and gave her a good morning sweet kiss on her forehead and on her bulging turn which protruded out right. She was pregnant! The man also seemed to be very dear to her…… of course! Who couldn't know who he was to Mrs Claudia; her darling husband for certain. As soon as, Mrs Claudia felt the told warmth fragile lips on her forehead she suddenly smiled and gave a huge relief, she turned towards his direction with a light smile on her face "Good morning darling" she said softly "Good morning Baby,how was your night?" He said asked "Fine Baby, it's just that I had a hard time sleeping, I couldn't get enough rest and I think I have aches all over" complained Mrs. Claudia "Ohh dear, don't worry, Just stay here while I go prepare coffee, maybe that will help make you sleep well, for the aches I'll get it while returning from the office;I don't want to see you worrying these little feets in there" he said pointing towards her protruding belly. "Alright then, I'll wait" she said as she gave him a kiss on the lips. Few minutes later, Mr Charlie was back again with a tray of coffee in his hands. He dropped the tray on the chest of drawers and handed over the coffee mug to Mrs Claudia "Thanks love" Mrs Claudia appreciated "Anything for you baby," he replied. Mrs Claudia sipped out of the coffee mug and was relieved. "Nice coffee" she commented "Of Course, your husband has the best hands for that" Mr Charlie danced with his brows and soon realised he was late for work by the time he checked his wristwatch. "Oh my! Sorry honey I'm so late for work I promise I'll be back as soon as I can, bye now" he said and kissed her hastily on the lips as if he never meant it but it never bothered Claudia. She knows how his work at times at the office could be especially when he worked in New York's city industrial building and construction organisation. Where he always has to do some presentations and interviews for new employees. That's why he always comes back tired and frustrated. At times he has no appetite for food and always loved waking up at midnight or dawn working on his project on his laptop. It was so unhealthy and stressful as Claudia would say. "He never spends time with me or his unborn child "she would complain. As soon as Mr Charlie zoomed off with his black Hyundai car, Mrs Claudia got up from bed and decided to go have her bath. She was almost done in the bathroom and the telephone rang violently and nonstop in the spacious living room. She was able to hear it because the house was as quiet as a graveyard. She hurriedly wore her bathrobe, hair towel and gurgling Baby bathroom slippers on and rushed to the living room where the telephone was. She picked it up and held it close to her ear. "Hello!" She said after a long pause "Hello Claudia! It's me Maggie" said the caller's voice. "Oh Maggie, why use another line? " Claudia said "Why haven't you called ever since then? , and why is it that each time I call you on the phone you deliberately don't pick my calls?, Are you literally avoiding me?" Claudia bumped Questions "Sweetheart I'm so sorry it's just that I've kinda …..em…..been …..sick! yes! Been sick for a week now" the voice contemplated It seems she was lying and obviously wasn't sick but Claudia couldn't dictate whether it was a lie or not. All she cared about was Maggie, her childhood best friend being able to call her again after a while now. "Anyway, how are you feeling now? I hope that rascal boy Dustin you call your boyfriend is really taking care of you?" asked Mrs Claudia doubtfully. She had this obvious sense of doubt and obstinacy when it comes to that rascal s*x freak;Dustin, who claims he's highly reasonably beyond doubts in love with Maggie, Claudia unseperable friends whom they grew as sisters. After that quizzical unexpected Questions, the caller's voice seemed to have changed and there was sense of lies in her voice. "Maggie, I asked you a question, where is Dustin?" asked Claudia again now, Claudia became very suspicious and worried "He…..He is….. at the workshop!" The voice manage to say "Really?" Claudia retorted giving a doubtful and unsatisfied voice "Yeah .... Yeah, I'm serious,Dustin has been very good these days and he's changed besides I forgot to tell you that he went out to find some money in order to get me drugs" Maggie said firmly which Claudia turned out to believe "Alright then, if you say so than I'll believe that; but I'll advice you to keep a close eyes on him despite,the fact that he's handsome and responsible doesn't change the fact that he could be a traitor and a street terrorist,any ways I was busy in the bathroom before you called so I've got to go back before my husband comes back, I would talk to you next time dear...." Mrs Claudia said about to hang up but Maggie hesitated "Wait! Wait! Wait!" Yelled Maggie "What? Is anything the problem?? asked Claudia "I…..Want you …to come ….over to my house and please...be fast about it"said Maggie with a low uncertain pitch of voice. As if she was being compelled to say what she had said. "Why? What happened dear? I was in the bathroom but" Claudia was cut short instantly "I know! I know! I know you're busy but can you come stay with me for a few hours before your husband returns;I'm so lonely at home and Dustin isn't around to keep me company" Maggie insisted. Mrs. Claudia pondered over the matter and finally made her decision." Alright then I'll be on my way to your house but I can assure you that I won't stay long". Claudia gave her terms "No problem,I'm cool with that. See you as expected" she said and gave a quizzical expression. She wondered why Maggie wanted to see her so much but she felt that it could be something very important and private, so she got back into the bathroom to finish her cleanup quickly.
