You're not as bad as I was told

I confidently walk out of my room, and towards the gathering of the wolves of my new pack. New pack? I smile at the thoughts of that. Not only do I have a new pack, but I've scored myself a mate. He might not be on the same level as me when it comes to the mating terms, but I have the patience to wait until he finally acknowledges me. Not only as an Alpha, but as a potential mate. One who can protect him should be there because of it. He might not like me right now, but I'm not giving up on my determination to woe him. I must make sure he gets to be mine. * * “Long live the Alpha!” The pack members shouted as they bowed to me, but I can tell their shouts and bow aren't voluntarily at all. They're still stuck on the fact I took their Alpha captive and took over their pack. The hostility was coming more from the same male whom I saw with Dess on the first day I met him. The male I put in charge of recruiting the new wolves is looking at me with a look that's so hostile, that it rivals the glare Medusa sends the way of men. “Thank you all.” I smile at them, my eyes locking with that of the former Beta. “Am glad you all came to honour my new emergence as the Alpha of the pack.” I gave a long boring speech* I had New prepare it, and I crammed as much as I can into my mind while thinking of my mate who's probably sleeping in his room* to the people before I decided to call it a day. “Should any of you have a question to ask? I'll be happy to answer them all.” I said with a smile, while hoping none of them decides to ask a question I can't answer. One of the little ones in the pack raised her hand, but the father angrily brought it down, a glare on his face as he did so. “What's it, young one?” I decided to ask when I noticed how eager the little girl is to ask the question. “She's just a child, my Alpha. There's nothing important in her mind right now. She's likely to ask of unrelated kinds of stuff.” The father said in a rush. “That's true, my Alpha. Don't pay any need to our daughter, she's not aware of what she's doing.” The mother, I presumed, asked. “Don't worry about that. I'll hear her question nonetheless. I'm the one who'll say whether the question is necessary or not.” Walking close to her, I squat in front of her and took her hand in mine. My action seemed to shock the entire people standing around us as they all gasped in shock. Their heartbeat accelerates as if they're expecting something untoward to happen right now. The small girl looked at our joined hands, her eyes glued to them. “Tell me, young girl. What's the problem?” “What of our Alpha?” She asked in a shy voice. “I've not seen him ever since he promised to continue with our training.” The entire people gasped as they all held their breath waiting for my actions and reactions to her question. I'll confess, I wasn't expecting such a brave question from her, but I won't say my mind didn't think about that. “Your Alpha is currently in my house.” I smile at her. Looking at our joined hands, I lightly grip it, a soft smile on my face. The Werewolves standing around us all exhaled in relief when they heard my words. Their faces show their relief. Wait a minute, are they expecting me to do something to harm her? I scoff at that thought. I know I've not done anything to make them think good of me, but come on. I'm a good Alpha, forget about my fame that far precedes me. “What's he doing in your house?” She asked with childlike innocence. “Kira!” The mother gasped aloud, her eyes darting between us as she did so. Giving the woman, who thought to interrupt our talk, a look, I turned to the little girl. “Oh that,” I nervously scratch my hair. “He needs to take a rest. He's worked for a long time, I guess it's time for him to take some much-needed rest.” I hope he's doing that, and not searching for a way to escape from my house. “Why will he take a rest? We're not through with the hanny man! I need to show him some of my skills. I bet he'll be impressed.” She smiled goofily. “He sure will be impressed!” I said animatedly. “I'll be sure to tell him all you've told me when I reach home.” I smile. Thinking about her words, and the plans I had in mind to implement sooner to get the pack to accept me as theirs, I decided to take the golden opportunity that has presented itself on a gold platter. “As for your practice, I'll take care of it. You don't have to worry, I'll teach you guys.” Teaching the children is a sure way of getting the pack to accept me. “You don't have to worry about that, my Alpha. We'll take care of things.” The father spoke up. “Don't worry about it. Presently, I have nothing of the present that's pressing. I'll take care of the children until the Alpha finally decides to take over from me.” I hope he comes to terms with my plans. “He's going to come back?” She gasped in shock, “He will return to teach us?” “Of course, he will.” I ruffle her hair a bit, “for now, I'll take you guys up on the training until he's perfectly okay to return.” “Thank you, Alpha, you're not as bad as father said you are.” She glared up at the father, who looked like he wants to be anywhere but here at the moment. “Of course, I'm not bad. It's not good to judge a book by its cover.”
