Mary-Katheryn
Staying with the Jackson Clan has been interesting. After that weird meeting with the lady and Alpha Jacob I've done my best to stay clear of him. I told them everything about myself and... well not everything, I still didn't tell them about my mate being Jason, but I did say I was running from someone who wanted to force a mating.
They seemed more concerned about how I was able to find the house, because in Alpha Jacobs words 'I should not have been able to find them or the house.' Ms. Nomonde said I should stay with them and trust that no-one will find me here. No-more calling her the lady. I learned her name.
I don't know how true that is because I'm here, but so far her words have been true. Alpha Jacob said that as I would be staying with them. I would have to do my part in helping out. Which I didn't mind in the beginning because I didn't know the work that goes into making a pack function smoothly.
I'm not a snob, but this is too much work for 10 people, let alone 1. I had to work in the kitchen, prepare food and clean up after everyone is done. Had a week in the laundry room. The smells were what I believe only a dead body should smell like. The floor cleaning was not as bad once I got used to it. Beats the laundry. Shudders.
I'm never taking advantage of the omegas back at home again. My only consolation price is the library. I hide out in there once I am done helping out for the day. It helps with avoiding Alpha Jacob too. That man is relentless.
Whenever he finds me outside, he will stay there until I go back in. My morning runs are a group thing now with him. So if I don't want to develop something else which the Alpha will make himself a part of, I just stay in the library.
I've been reading so many interesting books. Mostly I think are fictional books written as if they are historical documents. They talk about the Royals, which I know there is no such thing, since we don't have Royals in the Shifter community. Or the world even.
The books talk about the different Royal lineage's the world has. Which is none. It also talks about the unrest between the royal clans and the rest of the world population. The Jackson clan is mentioned a lot which is what made me think that these 'Royal' books where fictional.
As the days went by with me helping out and reading, I would spend most of my time in the library, but there were other times were Siphesihle and Nhlakanipho would hang out with me. Nhlakanipho is Alpha Jacob's Beta, and also his younger brother. He is supper friendly for a Beta and being Alpha Jacob's brother makes me think he's adopted then I remember that Alpha Jacob's mom is nice too.
Siphesihle was the only omega nice to me when I started helping out. I owe all my new found skills to her. She likes to drag me out of the library a lot says I need fresh air and this books are too stuffy for a growing flower.
I keep telling her that reading books is like tending the flowers for her. She loves it and it makes her happy. She always comes back with 'Flowers are outside in the fresh air, not dusty shelves.' So now I tend to read out in the garden a lot.
Like now I'm sitting at a gazebo in the garden reading more about the fictional Royals when the book is ripped out of my hands.
"You will not read this book again, or any that resemble it." Alpha Jacob's back says as he is already walking away with my book.
"Hey, I was reading that!" I yell trying to catch up with him. I can never win with this guy.
I follow along behind him trying to get my book back. I was just about to read about the Royal Rulers. Rulers put on this earth to help the gods better govern over their earthly creations.
It says that after creating the earth as their play pan, the gods despaired at what would happen to their creations without proper guidance from them. As they were gods they could not always be there for their creations.
So they appointed 7 Royal Ruler Families. These families were to help the gods to better rule the world. The 7 families divided and settled on the 7 continents of the world.
Africa was settled by the Shifters and became their kingdom. Asia settled by the Elves to become their kingdom. Australia was settled by the Magicians and became their kingdom. Europe settled by the Fairies to become their kingdom to rule. America settled by the Dragons, but the Dragons also divided themselves into 2 factions, the Fire Dragons taking South America to rule, and the Ice Dragons taking North America to rule over. Then the last continent being Antarctica was taken by the Vampires to rule over.
"Alpha Jacob please stop." We were almost to the library where he was probably going to put back the book. I dont get why he took it. It's a fictional book, interesting but fictional. What was written on that book that would make him so mad about me reading it.
I take a deep breath and run fast to stop in front of him to ask for the book back. Once I'm in front of him. The anger on his face makes me falter a little, but I square my shoulders and ask him for the book.
He snarls at me and tries to move again but I hold my ground. "I am done with all my chores today. Made sure I was not needed for anything, like I always do, because I know that as a freeloader I have to help out. So please Alpha Jacob, please can I have the book back." He again tries to pass me and I stop him.
"If you block me again there will be consequences." He says snarling at me and his eyes start to glow a little.
Whoa... that's new, never seen anyone's eyes glow before. I step to the side and let him go, but I follow him to try and find out why he took the book from me.
As we keep on going I think about his odd behavior to me. He has not objected to anything I do so far. Although he would look at me with disdain whenever we crossed paths, but he has not done this before.
We pass the library and I frown a little, I thought he would put it back so I could maybe take it again, but no such luck.
When we near his office I see Ms. Nomonde turning the corner to make it to his office. She looks up with a frown of her own aimed at Alpha Jacob. When she notices me, she tries to smile but I can see that it is a forced smile.
Alpha Jacob enters his office and since I know that I wont be able to get the book back from him now, I start to turn around so I could head back to Siphesihle in the garden. I can at least enjoy her company and the beautiful flowers for the rest of the day.
Maybe I can rope Beta Nhlakanipho into more training. I know that once I go back home I will need to know how to fight to fend off Dominic and get my freedom back.
"Katheryn, come back, we have to talk to you." Ms. Nomonde says. I look to her as she tries to keep a smile on her face. Then look to Alpha Jacob who looks at her like he wants to erase what she just said to me.
"Yes Ma'am." I go to pass through the door but Alpha Jacob is in the way and does not look like he wants to move and I can hear him growling lowly threateningly at me in his chest.
"Jacob." Ms. Nomonde says and the growling stops but it takes him a minute to move out of the way. I stand there patiently waiting for him to calm down.
When he does stand aside it's only to open a small gap for me to pass between him and the door. Because I know that's all the space I'll get with him so mad. I squeeze myself through, and once I'm through he growls at me again. This time louder.
"Jacob yekela kubhodlela lomtfwana. Ungibite utsi kukhona lo'ufuna kungikhomba." Ms. Nomonde says to Jacob and he stops growling and goes to his side of the table.
Well that helped. I wish I knew what she said. But with Ms. Nomonde I don't understand half of what she says, because she likes to talk in that other language a lot. So I've grown used to her words flying by me.
Kinda-like how she only calls me Katheryn, she says Mary brings back painful memories so she will just use Katheryn. Which is fine with me no harm done.
Once Alpha Jacob sits down he puts the book I was reading on the table and glares at me. I look down not even knowing what I did wrong just by reading a book.
Ms. Nomonde gasps and reaches for the book. "Wentani Jacob. Indzaba ube naleli'bhuku lelo." There she goes again. Why did she even call me here. Cant hear a thing she just said.
Might as well just go back to the garden. I could take a short cut through the double doors here. Siphesihle did an amazing job with the garden its beautiful with a splash of colours everywhere you look.
Out this window I can see she planted purple roses and red roses on each side of the door and on the surrounding porch. Making the person who walks out be surrounded by all their beauty and lovely fragrance.
"Akusimi." I hear Alpha Jacob say then he points to me. What have I done now. Wow never thought I would get in trouble just for reading a book. I laugh to myself.
Ms. Nomonde looks at me with wonder in her eyes. "Where did you get this book my dear." I frown a little. Aren't all books left in the library for all to read.
But I would never answer her like that. Maybe Alpha Jacob but not Ms. Nomonde. "I found it in the library ma'am." I say feeling like I'm missing something with these people. Well I'm always missing something with their language but this feels like more.
"Was I not supposed to read it?" After saying that both their eyes start to grow wide. Okay, was not supposed to read that book. Noted.
"I'm very sorry if I wasn't supposed to read it. The cover just caught my eye. And when I started reading it, it fascinated me. The author of the book was so imaginative with her characters and their backstory. I didn't get to read much before Alpha Jacob took it, but what I did read was so fascinating to me." Ms. Nomonde's hands go up to cover her mouth as I keep on rambling.
"You were able to read this book?" Alpha Jacob says and picks up the book to make sure I see which one he is talking about.
I nod my head slowly, not understanding, then look to Ms. Nomonde who has tears in her eyes. "I told you there was something special about her. Not everyone can pass our barriers."
Ooookay back to the weird place again where her words fly over my head. "But how, they all vanished 15 years ago. And uncle only had a son not a daughter." Alpha Jacob stands and starts pacing at this point. "The son should be 18 years old by now if he survived the banishment. We barely did. How can a 3 year old."
"Yes that's true." She says that and they both look at me.
