Chapter 12

Mary-Katheryn

"Jason." I call to him as I see him walk away from me. "Jason!" He stops and turns to me. "Come back! Don't leave me alone again. Please!!" I start to cry when I see he hasn't moved to come back.

"Jason..." I sob, falling down as my knees give out on me.

"Ungakhali sithandwa sami, ngiyeta kuwe." I look up and see him start to vanish a little. Panicking I try to stand and go to him.

"No! Jason NO! Stay with me."

"Jason!!!" I jackknife into a sitting position while screaming. Looking around I see I'm in my room.

Placing a hand on my chest I try to regulate my breathing, while still looking around. I see nothing out of the ordinary. So I lean back and try to rest again.

What feels like moments later I hear movement around me. I see a girl moving around, with a tray of food in her hands. "Hi, who are you, and what are you doing?" I whisper to her.

She jumps and turns to me. "Oh. I thought you were still sleeping." She moves my way. "Since you're up, here's your food."

"Thanx." I say as she helps me to sit better on the bed.

After I finish eating, I feel my eyes start to droop again. "The Alpha wants to see you." the girl says. I forgot to ask her name while eating.

I try to shift and move out of the bed, but my body shoots with more pain. I groan and lay back down. I feel sleep pull me back again.

I wake up feeling groggy, and try to sit up. After sitting up I remember the pain I felt before and brace myself to feel it again, but nothing comes.

I open my eyes to find myself in my room again, and breath a sigh of relief that I'm back home.

I get up and do my toiletries, then start for the door, anticipating what the pack cook has prepared for breakfast.

"You coming Rose, I wont save any bacon for you." I say to my sister, hoping she answers me.

I hear nothing. "Rosie, come on. You're my sister, you're not supposed to be mad at me. I know it's wrong what I'm doing, but you wont even let me explain what is happening." I turn to confront my stubborn sister, and see her bed made up. Which means she got up early and left, like usual.

"Stubborn girl!!!" I scream.

I turn and march outside to give her a piece of my mind, and almost hit the floor.

What the hell. Where am I? This is not the hallway to the kitchen at home. Then I see a girl coming towards me.

"Good, you're up and about. Alpha Jacob and Indlunkulu would like you to join the pack for breakfast." she announces and turns to walk away again. "Follow me please."

While she was talking everything came back to me then. Dominic taking me to his pack, me running from his room and pack house, going into the woods and walking for hours before reaching the seemingly abandoned house, meeting Alpha Jacob and the kind lady, going for a run and that's it.

"Oh... um... thank you?" I say it like it's a question. She turns looks at me, but keeps going. "May I ask the name of this pack again. I think I forgot it."

"As I said before, you will get your answers from our Alpha. Please walk faster, breakfast has already started." she says as she picks up the pace.

I keep quiet and just follow her. I remember her now, Nokwazi. As we near the kitchen I can hear the noise of people eating and chatting, others laughing making it seem more and more inviting to me. I always had breakfast at home not the pack house. So I've had little interaction with a pack in their comfort zone.

When we enter the pack mass hall, everyone turns to look at us. Well me then goes back to what hey were doing. Huh... that's an odd and nice reaction. Nothing to see so keep doing what you doing. I like it, and I don't have to feel self conscious while a bunch of people stare at me.

Nokwazi goes to a table and sits down with a bunch of girls I think are her friends, and I'm left alone at the door looking like a ninny. Now I wish there was some pompous show of me being new and them showing me where to sit. Where is Alpha jackass or that kind lady, since they invited me here.

I start making my way to an empty chair near the back and sit down. I do breathing exercises for 2 mins while waiting for someone to shout at me to get up off this chair. When no one does nothing I release a breath and start putting food on my dish.

Well that was a good breakfast. I was so hungry. I stand up and start to leave then I remember I have nothing to do here. I look behind me to see if Nokwazi is done eating so I can ask her what I'm supposed to do, but I don't see her. She must have left with her friends while I was still eating. Well then... I start walking with no aim around the house. I find a lot of interesting rooms. There's a library. Need to memorize the way. A TV room. A door with a sign that says gym. The dining room / Mass hall. I think I even saw a ball room.

I keep wondering the first floor until I'm called from behind. When I look I see Alpha Jacob holding a door open.

"Get in here. We need to talk about your stay with us." he says with a scowl on his face.

I turn and enter the room. Once I close the door I see I am in his office. It looks amazing. Book shelf at the back. Comfortable looking chairs to sit in. A clean looking wood table not overflowing with documents. I see french doors that seem to lead to a beautiful garden outside. Wish we could have this meeting out in that garden.

I stand next to the chairs and wait for the Alpha to talk. He gestures to the chairs so I sit.

"We need to discuss what you will be doing here while with us." he says, and I can see that sentence pains him.

I clear my throat a little. "May I ask the name of this pack first. Or is that a secret." I say after i see him frown when I asked the name of the pack.

He visibly tries to relax himself. "No, there is no secret here. We call ourselves the Jackson Clan." He puffs out his chest, and I just look to see what he's waiting for.

"Oookay. Um... thanx? So...." I say trying to look everywhere but at him.

"Right, you don't even know how you found us." I hear him mutter. Has no-one ever told him about wolf  ears.

"Ok, let's continue. I need to know your skills, what you're good at. I need to know how we can put you to work in this clan." he says.

"Why do I need..." I'm interrupted by the door opening.

"I think he means we would like to know you better. So we can help you fit in with us." the nice lady from yesterday comes in. I really need to ask her name or title. Cant keep calling her the lady.

She makes her way to stand behind Alpha Jacob. "We don't get many visitors so we would like to get to know you while you are with us." I smile at her. She has a comforting aura about her.

"So tell us child, what pack do you come from?" she asks.

"I'm from the Dlamini Wolves... I mean White Crescent Moon Pack. My name is Ma-"

"Why did you hesitate are you lying to us?" Alpha Jacob growls at me.

"No, I'm not. I made a mistake. We recently changed our pack name so it's still confusing to me." The two look at each other. Then Alpha Jacob gestures for me to continue.

I tell them about myself, my skills and my role at home, i just leave out the mate staff.

"So you are just a spoilt princess. How on earth did you find us? There's nothing special about you." Alpha Jacob says.

His attitude towards me is starting to irritate me. "Do I need to be special to be in your presence?" I snarl at him.

"YES!" he shouts and bangs the table.
