Chapter 35 WELL, THIS WASN’T GOOD. Best-case scenario, George was here to subtly undermine the Naming Ceremony. Worst-case scenario, he intended to injure my niece and nephew. Either way— “Ruth!” I reached out along my own thread of a pack bond, hunting for our clan’s linchpin. But all I found was emptiness. Either she was ignoring me, or our alpha was still sound asleep. As if he’d read my mind, George took a step forward. “Where is your sister?” he asked Luke. “I’d like to offer my congratulations.” “Ruth is preparing for the ceremony,” Luke answered easily. But the murmur from the neighboring alphas suggested his evasion had been noted. Or, most likely, smelled. Skinless could sniff out lies, which was why Luke had been skirting the truth so carefully.
