I locked myself in the toilet in an obscure part of the hospital. The fluorescent light above flickered intermittently, casting eerie shadows on the cracked tile walls. I knew nobody would come here because it was dark and dingy. The air smelled of industrial disinfectant mixed with something musty and forgotten. At this point, I didn't mind the dark and dingy. All I needed was some peace to recompose myself. The weight of what had just happened pressed down on me like a physical force. I could hear my own sobs echoing off the walls, the sound bouncing back at me like accusations.
