Her body seemed like it's made of stone. So heavy that she can't move them at all.
'This is better at least...' she thought.
Being at least grateful that she woke up. The darkness that she had been conscious to... she didn't like it at all.
Deep in the dark, she's all alone and her thoughts run wild that it almost broke her. She cried and cried a lot. The feeling of emptiness, loneliness, and agony.
It rolled on her like a ball that's kept on going round and round that it got annoying.
She thought that it was the end of her. Remembering that she blacked out in the forest after she escaped. But once she opened her eyes, she's not cold and alone.
Diane had never thought that she would be saved, twice. One by Sebyl while the second is by the two strangers who had put her in lockdown.
She's somehow thankful but they don't have to put more effort into taking care of her.
Yes, she's physically weak to the point that Jasper, the funny guy, helps her. It embarrassed her but she couldn't do anything about it. The only thing that she can do is to endure. Endure everything, become strong for her to move out of their way. Without even saying anything about it, Diane knew that she's a nuisance.
"Good morning Missy~chan!" Jasper's cheery voice echo in the room.
Her already straight mouth can't go even straighter as he does his daily routine. Asking her in his cheery voice about normal and repetitive questions like; how is your morning? Did you sleep well? Are you hungry? Do you want to use the bathroom? Etc. Feeding her during mealtime, helping her up to go to the bathroom, and picking her clothes during her bath.
It's a good thing that he doesn't help her in other areas like getting naked and go in the bathtub, soap her all over and wash her hair, help her sit up after peeing, etc. And he just picks out some of the borrowed clothes from the both of them while the women's clothes that Jasper had picked out online for her are being delivered.
She feels like she's a bedridden person and Jasper is her caregiver or nurse while Lindon is the busy family member.
It's only been the third day after Lindon took her from the forest. She was unconscious for a day and a half. When she woke up, Jasper catered to her every need like a mother hen.
She hasn't yet seen Lindon, Jasper's cousin, since he got busy with business matters. Despite that Jasper told her that he had already given Lindon her message of thanks, it feels like it's not yet enough.
"You know... you can tell me your name. Lindon won't know about it, it'll be our secret." Jasper said with a wink.
Indeed, it's been a few days after she woke up and they still don't know her name. Which she prefers since she'll be leaving once she gets her strength back.
'Attachments are unnecessary.' She thought. A repetitious mantra that she had been saying to herself.
Afraid to commit nor get attached to them.
'Once is already enough.'
"How many days until I can stand up?" She instead asked.
Jasper sighed, scratching his head. "Well, it depends on your body's ability to heal itself. The faster it recuperates, the better."
His vague answer may satisfy the little lady for not at least. Not wanting to spill the beans of her not getting her strength back even if her body will be completely healed from it's internal and external injuries.
Mana particles within the body are needed to even the smallest of movements. Once your body's mana particles deteriorate, your body will feel heavy to the point of it being immovable.
Those who were gifted with bigger mana particles inside their body can do 'miraculous' things like performing magic or spells and absorb the mana around them.
Jasper can only help her through tending to her and making sure that she's completely healed before Lindon trains her to absorb mana.
Among the two of them, Lindon is the best in mana manipulation and he's also the strongest among everyone that he knew and had encountered.
But the gloomy miss is making it a little bit hard for both of them.
Her body is healing nicely despite it's a little bit slow. Those with have high mana particles can heal fast, but since she's losing some of it it's understandable that she's healing slowly. The downside of it is... she's losing thirty percent of her mana particles at a fast rate.
Reasons? Unknown.
It's a mystery to how is she losing mana particles even if she's healing.
'Probably because of the experiments.' Jasper mused. 'If she loses more then it be even harder for her to learn mana manipulation after her body is healed.'
There are only two options once you've lost all of your mana particles; in a vegetative state or death. And neither of them wants that kind of outcome to happen to the miss.
Even if she's gloomy and unresponsive most of the time, Jasper had already taken a liking to her. It's like she's the sister that he never had.
That's why he took care of her with the gentlest care that he can muster. Afraid of breaking her in her state.
Lindon thought that it's ridiculous but his only excuse is that his cousin had never taken care of her.
He did found her and took her in their house but that's it. He wouldn't know the feeling of taking care of someone with everything that you've got since... he hasn't grown in such an environment.
Deep inside he knew that he had done it too but it was years ago... after that tragedy, he became stoic and stiff that it pained him to watch him being like that.
That's why he had taken the responsibility to take care of him instead. Until he finds his happiness again, he won't ever leave him behind.
With his tasks done, Jasper stood up and took the used plate and utensils with him then closed the door. Leaving the silent girl to her thoughts.
