Chapter 10

1300 Words
"Diane! It's me!" Sebyl screams as the young woman trashed around when he held her. "S-Sebyl?" she whimpers. "Yes, yes, now let's go." He said, quickly pulling her out of the room while chaos is still going to the whole building. Blaring alarms, inconsistent lighting due to the shaking of the building, and other multiple sounds; from the explosives, the crashing of various things, and the cries of people coming from everywhere. Those sounds are all over the place, making it overwhelming for her. "Where are we going?!" she shouts. "Somewhere safe!" was all he said as they ran around the hallways. "Go left, straight then right," Cecil instructs. The plan is to go to that exit with a little bit higher amount of mana as to not get tracked down by the security now that the building is in a high level of emergency. Focusing on fortifying the whole building rather than detecting medium to high amounts of mana inside it. With the help of Theo, who had cast a telepathic spell and gave Cecil a rune stone as the medium to control mana at a certain amount of time. With pure concentration under pressure, the two siblings are the ones who are taking their role very seriously and cautiously. Sebyl is in the most dangerous situation among the three of them. 'Are we almost there?' Sebyl asks rather impatiently after a few minutes. Getting impatient. He didn't even tell his bro that he got his sister already. Due to the tight and serious mission, he didn't bother to. "i***t. Almost, now turn right again." As he's about to do it, Cecil suddenly shouts."There are four men coming at your right. Hurry and turn left!" This made Sebyl grind his teeth.  Picking up the pace as they quickly turn to the right; to suddenly be brought to a halt. Letting those men, probably guards, to pass. "What's the situation?" He hears one of them ask. "Those idiots didn't come back nor reported anything. Probably got killed or gone unconscious." "I swear, whoever is doing this they will get the kindness that they deserve for ruining my sleep." As the rest of them snorts, one of the men suddenly stops before they completely pass the hallway. "What is it, Ben?" 's**t!' Sebyl curses as he quickly moves silently. Carrying Diane in his arms. 'Cecil! Hurry and lessen the mana you're using! One of them-' "Where are you going?" Sebyl's spine tingled as he hears those words too late. His heart skips a beat, out of fear and adrenaline pumping in his veins. "f**k! Calm down, i***t!" His sister exclaims. Somehow it helped him to dose down his fear a little bit. The eighteen years of their life had been a roller coaster. His envy for his sister's talent and hatred toward his pitiful self as they grew up, until Cecil's 'accident' that made both of their lives turn to 180 degrees. It drew them closer after it and especially after another shock of surprise when they found out during their eighteenth birthday that their 'parents' were actually just two strangers working as their guardians. Wherein their real parents were missing. Both siblings already felt sketchy whenever their 'parents' stayed inside their house once they're free from their job. The two adults would always fight with minuscule reasons and their room had a surprisingly adjacent door to another room. They've found it when the twins sneaked inside, out of curiosity. It had bothered them until they had the guts to ask and fortunately or unfortunately, they were given the answer without any BS covering it. Their guardians' job wasn't even under the jurisdiction of the Council, rather it's their own endeavor. As to how they lived for years without the two having a job; it seemed like their parents were rich, and that was the only explanation they've been given. Despite that, there were more questions about everything, both of them were somehow satisfied. Deciding to ask more when the time is right... but it seems that that time is not coming for them. Because they've been discovered by a burly guy who's glaring at them. Hard. 'Cecil, is the exit still far?' "No. It's just behind these stupid people in front of you." His sister answered. "Be careful... promise me." 'I don't think I can give you that promise, big sis.' He said. Hiding a stiff Diane behind his back. "Sebyl, you're such an i***t!" Cecil exclaimed. He can imagine that his sister is currently bawling her eyes out. Probably frustrated as she tries to stand up from her wheelchair. It only made him smile sadly and regretfully. Sad that it could be his last and he couldn't enjoy his life as he planned-- studying at an ordinary college and getting into the city to work his dream job. And regretful for half of his life had been put to envy and hate that he never enjoyed his life as a normal boy. 'Stay safe, sis. Don't worry about me.' Is all he said before muting their connection. "Well, what do we have here?" One of the men teasingly asked. Showing his gaping teeth as he smiles creepily. "What do you have behind you boy? Or should we ask WHO is behind you?" "My sister. You're scaring her guys. Can you give us some space? My sister is already panicking from the bombs." Sebyl said. Lying as he argued with a calm face and demeanor. "What are ye doin here lads? Are ye sure ye were authorized to come here in the first place?" "We got lost during our tour. And with the sudden bombing and all." Sebyl said. His lie seemed effective since three out of four don't look at them with suspicion. Two kids in a tour inside their secret laboratory aren't at all sketchy since the Council somehow do tours to promising kids who were born as normal despite their parents being witches and warlocks. As long as they pass some tests and do the Oath of Loyalty in front of all Council leaders. It's a good thing that Cecil had given him her brooch. Before the accident, she passed her test and got acknowledged during the Oath of Loyalty. As they pass by them, making sure to hide Diane's face. They immediately run to where they were before and then hiding to a corner after they made sure that those guys aren't following them. Once he got themselves out of their sight and also waited for a few minutes to make sure that those people aren't around anymore. Sebyl grabs Diane's hand and immediately went to the direction where Cecil had said to be the hidden exit. "Sebyl, make it quick. You need to get out of there." Theo, his considered 'bro' since he admires him. He usually calls him 'kid' since they knew each other since childhood and the four of them grew close with each other. The fact that Theo called him in his name only indicates that time is running out. As he opened the door with a secret lever, he suddenly felt pain on his back. A hot searing pain that made his body wet and painful. It was then that he realized too late that he was followed by none other than the burly man who shot him daggers. The man who didn't relax despite his lie of being one of the kids who were touring the laboratory. As he immediately pushed Diane inside. He screamed at her to run and quickly closing the door. Holding tight the lever as to not wanting to give in to the pain that he's experiencing at the moment. Removing the earpiece on his right ear. He presses the button to speak, to reply for one last time. "Bro... take care of Cecil." After that, Sebyl gathered all his strength. Destroying the evidence by punching his palm against the wall. Shattering the earpiece to bits. "Dare to explain why you pushed your sister in there, kid?" The man asked. Sebyl smiled faintly, turning around to face him. With cold eyes and a mocking expression visible on his face.
