Ezekiel just kept staring at Alicia not sure what was so intriguing about her, On the other hand, Alicia was doing her best to hide her fear she would not let them think they had the upper hand even though they did.
"I hope you're more comfortable now that you've been untied," Ezekiel asked as the woman undid the last knot.
"I feel slightly better thank you" Alicia replied scanning the room with her eyes, trying to find an escape route.
"Aside from being rescued by me do you remember anything about that night" Zeke asked intently
"No," Alicia replied bluntly still scanning the room
Ezekiel noticed how her eyes darted here and there and immediately knew what was going through her mind "You'll be dead the moment you step outside these walls" Ezekiel said smiling softly
His words shook her and pulled her attention to him, Why would he say that out of the blue did he know she was trying to escape can he read her mind, who or what was going to kill her, All these questions kept running in her mind but she couldn't get herself to ask any
"I beg your pardon" Alicia finally mustered the courage to say
"I know you want to leave as soon as possible, probably because you don't feel safe but I assure you this is the safest place you can be right now" Ezekiel replied with a serious face the playful, friendly smile was gone and his gaze was now intense.
"Why should I believe you" Alicia retorted with a serious face
Ezekiel looked at this fragile woman speaking without a trace of fear in her voice even though she reeked of fear, He was about to speak when he was interrupted by the sound of Alicia's growling stomach, Alicia felt a bit embarrassed as Ezekiel was now staring at her stomach he laughed wholesomely and beckoned to the woman, "Lilian ask the kitchen staff to fix our guest something to eat" And Lilian left immediately
"That won't be necessary I'm not hungry I just.." before Alicia could complete her statement another loud growl echoed from her tummy
"Well your stomach says otherwise," Ezekiel said laughing as he turned to leave the room."Don't worry I won't poison you, you're of no good to me dead" and then he left
Alicia just stared at his back as he walked away she couldn't help but admire this good-looking man whom she didn't yet know If he was her rescuer or her captor,
He had broad shoulders and a strong jawline, his eyes were blue and could pierce through one's soul, he had a charming smile, His hair was dark and wavy, Tall and well built with an athletic physique.
"snap out of it Alicia, how can I be thinking of his looks right now" she scolded herself
Alicia remembered that she had broken her ankle but she currently wasn't feeling any pain so she decided to try getting up, to her surprise she stood up without pain, there was a huge mirror in the corner of the room so she decided to check her body for injuries but found only a few scares on her body, How long was she unconscious for? she thought to herself, injuries don't heal that quickly.
She remembers being badly injured on her thigh and having several scratches all over her body but none was there so she must have been out for at least two weeks. She tried to remember exactly what happened in the woods, but her memory was foggy, she could only remember she was being chased and that Ezekiel had rescued her, she tried harder to remember and a glimpse of unclear memory flashed in her mind accompanied by a sharp pain in her head she screamed in pain holding her head,
Just then Lilian came back in with some helpers carrying trays of what seemed like dishes of food.
"Are you okay? I heard you screaming" Lilian asked rushing to Alicia's side "You shouldn't be stressing yourself you're still recovering," Lilian said as she held Alicia and led her back to the bed
"How long have I been unconscious" Alicia asked Lilian holding her head in pain
" A week" Lilian replied bluntly, she then motioned for the helpers to place the food in front of Alicia.
A week? Alicia knew it would take more than that for the kind of injuries she had to heal "But my injuries.."
"Enough with the talking child and feed your stomach," said Lilian as she opened the dish revealing the mouth-watering meals.
Alicia immediately forgot about her question and began digging in like a hungry Lion, all her feeding manners went out the window and she devoured the fried chicken without mercy
"I would hate to be that chicken right now," said Ezekiel who had been standing by the door silently observing the actions taking place
Why did he have to see her in such an embarrassing situation like this?
"I...I don't usually eat this way I'm just really hungry" said Alicia trying to defend herself
" I understand, "Zeke said smiling
He had the most alluring smile she had ever seen, and his skin glittered like a bunch of fireflies with a perfectly sculpted face and his voice was something else, she couldn't help but stare.
"Alicia you might want to take a picture it lasts longer," Zeke teased Alicia knocking her back to her senses
"Oh my God why do I keep embarrassing myself in front of him" she scolded herself inwardly, she lowered her face not being able to look him in the eye and just continued eating ignoring His remarks
Being ignored was not something Ezekiel was used to and this piqued his interest in her even more.
Ezekiel smiled and said to himself, "What an interesting little dove I've found, I'm keeping her"
