"The Business"

Once I get home, I run to my desk. I grab my computer and open it. I type in the business name. I click on the first website.      "For Hire?" I read out loud.  I click on it and it pops up a number. Pulling out my phone I dial the number. I take a deep breath and call the number. After ringing for a couple of seconds a lady answers.     "Hello, Hastings Company. This is Ash. How may I assist you?" The lady speaks into the phone and my heart starts thudding.      "Oh um. Hello. My name is Anna. I saw your sign. I heard you needed more people. I was wondering if I could get an interview." I get up and pace around my room nervous than ever.      "Yes ma'am. What day is okay for you? " She answers back in a sweet voice. I get more and more nervous by the second. "Um, when do you have an opening?" I ask back looking at the time. It was already 10:30.      "We have one today at 11:45." She says as I write it on a piece of paper. I wanted one asap so I took the offer.  "I'll be there!" I hang up the phone quickly nervous but excited at the same time. Knowing that I need to dress formally, I grab a white blouse from my dresser and some black thick leggings. I brush my hair out and put it into a high ponytail. I put some black earrings in and slide on some black heels. Normally I can't stand wearing heels but today was an expectation. Looking at the time it was 11: 00. I put some makeup on. My face was natural so I didn't need much. I added mascara and some clear lip gloss. I started to get hungry and got me a donut off the counter that I had gotten when I was at the shop. After eating that. I straighten up everything in my apartment. By the time everything is done it is already 11:23. I head outside and catch a cab. It only took a few minutes to get there.  The cab drops me off in front of a HUGE building. I look up nervously.  I take a deep breath.      "What if my breath stinks?"  "What if I'm not dressed right?"     I get worried about walking in. But I have to. No turning back now. I head inside. My eyes light up. Everything was so elegant. The floors were marble. The walls were a beautiful Navy color. A big chandelier was hanging down, and to the left, there was a little waiting type of area with white couches and a fireplace with a big TV above it. While observing a woman starts speaking.     "Hello!" The voice comes from the right side of me. I walk to her desk.  "Hi, I called earlier and I have an interview at 11:45." Looking at the clock on the wall behind her it was already 11: 30.  "Oh yes. Anna right?" Ash says looking down at the paper in front of her. I nod and she tells me to wait in the waiting area that someone will come out to get me. Waiting, I fill out some papers. They needed to know my background. Writing my last name made me more hesitant. Because my last name was also Hasting. I realized my dad could be in this building right now. After filling out the papers I hand them to Ash. She smiles and grabs them.     "So, Kalvin Hastings works here?" I ask, telling her the name of my father.  "Yes indeed. The only and-. HES YOUR FATHER?" Her eyes light up seeing where I filled out the application.      "Yeah.." I nod my head looking down at my feet nervously. She hits a button on an office phone. The line rings and she brings it up to her ear.      "Sir, your daughters here." She says looking watching me carefully. I quickly look up and my eyes widen.  Oh no. I didn't want her to call him! What about my interview?? It was already 11:50. I NEED THIS JOB STILL! She mumbles something then hangs up. Looking at me she speaks, "He's on his way. " I pace around the room more nervous than when I walked in. Suddenly the elevator dings which stops me in my tracks. I turn. Facing him.      "Anna." He looks at me worriedly.
