Chapter 1 The Fated One Has Arrived
Dicia's POV
Today, the Green family threw a lavish ball to welcome their biological daughter, Tina, back into the fold.
Before Tina's return, everyone in the Waterfall Pack had believed I was the Greens' true daughter.
I had believed it too.
My marriage to Andre was rooted in a lifetime of friendship, a love that blossomed from childhood. We had been in love for over a decade. Another reason was that I was believed to be the Greens' daughter.
I was Dicia, the Luna of the Waterfall Pack. My husband, Andre, was our pack's Alpha, the leader we all followed.
My father, Bart Green, had been the former Alpha's right-hand man. Now my brother, Brady Green, was Andre's second-in-command.
The Greens were the pack's elders, and Andre relied on their support.
Andre and I had been married for two years. When I turned eighteen, it was time to awaken my wolf. The first transformation was agony for every werewolf. But Andre stayed by my side, holding me close, kissing me, and soothing my pain.
Sadly, even though I came of age and gained my wolf, Moon Goddess left me in the dark about who my fated mate was.
I had dreamed a thousand times that Andre was my fated mate. But Moon Goddess had other plans, twisting my fate with a cruel hand.
Despite it all, Andre and I were inseparable. My heart was his, and his was mine. We brushed aside the idea of fated mates, pledging to be each other's forever.
I married Andre when I was twenty. Now, two years later, with me at twenty-two and him at twenty-four, our life felt like a dream.
As Luna, I threw myself into my role, smoothing tensions among the pack and navigating the tricky waters of inter-clan diplomacy. I thrived, earning the pack's respect and admiration.
My love for Andre burned bright, and his for me was just as fierce. There was no doubt about that.
Each night, as we lay tangled in each other's arms, Andre would murmur, "Dicia, I would be lost without you."
We were two halves of a whole, our lives intertwined so deeply I was certain our love would last a lifetime.
But now, the foundation of my perfect life was crumbling beneath me. The bombshell that I was not the Greens' biological daughter shattered my world into pieces.
Would the parents who raised me still love me the same? Would Andre, my rock, still hold me as close as he always had?
For a fleeting moment, I thought about ditching the party, escaping the looming tension. But that would only stir up trouble with the Greens.
I was not the type to run away from problems, and I was not about to start now.
Andre sensed my distress and pulled me close. His voice was a calming anchor. "Dicia, do not fret. Blood or not, you are still their daughter. The ties that bind you are unshakable.
And as for me, my love for you is unshakable. No matter what, I will love you with everything I have got. Nothing can come between us. You are my heart, Dicia, now and always."
His words lifted the weight off my chest, and I managed a small, relieved smile.
With Andre's arm in mine, we stepped into the Green mansion's grand hall, where Tracy Green herself was waiting to welcome us.
In my heart, she was still my mother, truth be damned. Her smile was as warm as ever as she took my hand. "Tina is a sweet girl. I am sure you will hit it off," she said.
I forced a polite nod. But inside, I was not convinced. If Tina's past was rough, she might hold a grudge against me for stealing her birthright.
As Andre and I walked into the grand hall, my gaze instantly locked onto Tina, who stood out like a beacon in her dazzling red gown, looking every bit the princess from a fairy tale. She leaned into my father, Bart Green, chatting animatedly. Her charm and quick wit were already weaving a bond between them that seemed unbreakable. In just two days, she and Bart had grown so close, it was as if she had always been part of the family.
The moment Tina spotted Andre and me, her eyes latched onto him with a fiery intensity that sent a shiver down my spine. This was not just a passing look. It was something raw, something that spoke of a connection beyond words. It was obvious to everyone in the room. The way she gazed at him was almost desperate, her body quivering with an electric energy.
A cold wave of unease washed over me. I turned to Andre, and the look in his eyes sent my heart plummeting. There was shock, sure, but also a burning curiosity and a hunger that made my stomach churn. A horrifying realization struck me like a lightning bolt. Were they destined to be mates? A tsunami of panic and fear crashed over me, leaving me breathless. Instinctively, I did not want Andre anywhere near her.
I grabbed Andre's arm. My voice was shaking as I pleaded, "You do not seem like yourself. Let us get out of here, okay?"
But Andre stood frozen, his eyes glued to Tina, not even glancing my way. This was beyond comprehension. For years, Andre's entire universe had centered around me. But now, it was as if I did not exist. Now, his focus was entirely on Tina. I felt invisible, like a ghost in my own life.
My heart broke into a thousand shards, each one cutting deeper than the last. As I was sinking into a pit of despair, Tina's voice cut through the air, sharp and unwavering. "Andre is my destined mate. I can feel it with every fiber of my being."
