Natalie POV "Congratulations, Luna!" The words hit me the moment I stepped into Dr. Martinez's office, followed by his warm, beaming smile. I stood frozen in the doorway, my purse still clutched against my chest. "Congratulations for what?" The question tumbled out before I could stop it. His smile widened as he gestured for me to sit. "Luna, you're pregnant. About six weeks along, from what the tests show." The world seemed to tilt sideways. "There has to be some mistake." "No mistake." His voice carried gentle certainty as he slid the test results across his desk. "The blood work confirms it." I stared at the paper, the numbers and medical terms blurring together. Pregnant. The word echoed in my mind like a stone dropped into still water, creating ripples that spread outward, touching everything. My chest constricted, making each breath feel forced. How was I supposed to tell Darren? We'd been together for two years, but we'd never talked about children, never planned for this. He hardly even touched me. "Thank you, Dr. Martinez," I managed, my voice steadier than I felt. I folded the results carefully and tucked them into my purse, as if handling them gently might somehow make the situation more manageable. He wanted to say more but I really did not want to hear anything else about the baby. I was finding it hard to hold my marriage, I cannot have a child as well. I must find a way out of this. I will….I…I placed my hand on my stomach taking a deep breath. A baby. I was having a baby inside of me. Shame this isn't going to end well. Walking toward the hospital exit, my mind raced with half-formed conversations and imagined reactions. That's when I saw him. Darren,my mate , the alpha of the moonlight pack stood near the main entrance, his familiar silhouette unmistakable even from a distance. But he wasn't alone. A woman with glossy auburn hair was nestled against his side, her hand resting on his chest in a gesture so intimate it made my stomach lurch. I fumbled for my sunglasses with trembling fingers, hoping to become invisible in the crowd of patients and visitors streaming past. "Sorry I'm late, sweetheart," I heard him say, his voice carrying that tender tone I thought was reserved for me. "Close your eyes," he murmured to her, producing a bouquet of white roses from behind his back—the same flowers he'd brought me on our first anniversary. She accepted them with a radiant smile, inhaling their fragrance. "Thank you, my Alpha" Alpha? The word slammed into me with physical force. I watched, paralyzed, as they walked past me toward the parking garage, her engagement ring catching the fluorescent light, a ring I'd never seen before, on a hand that wasn't mine, we had an argument recently and I had thrown the ring at him. And he…he gave it to someone else? The pregnancy results felt heavy in my purse, suddenly meaningless. Around me, I caught fragments of whispered conversations from other visitors: "Such a devoted husband... she's so lucky... they look so happy together..." I stood there until they disappeared from view, tears streaming down my face beneath my dark lenses. Tears streamed down my face watching their public affair. I couldn't believe he would do this to me. I watched as he used his fingers to trace her lips, leaning down to kiss her softly. That shattered my broken heart into tiny bits. “Alpha Darren,” I called, my voice cracking as they turned. His smile dropped like a mask slipping. “What are you doing here?” he asked, eyes flicking from me to the test results crumpled in my fist. I took a step forward. “Do I need permission now, husband?” The woman clutched his arm tighter. I pursed my lips. "What's wrong with you Darren?! What did I ever do to you?” I questioned with tears brimming in my eyes. "Or have you forgotten tha t we are mated?"I gasped out with the words tasting like metal in my mouth. "Mated to who?" Alpha Darren snarled. "You? Oh please don't make me laugh." He said with a mocking glance,his cruel words cutting through me like I was nothing. “ He is our mate” my wolf cried in agony. “Argh “my wolf ,Selene whimpered in pain ,my body ached badly as I dropped to my knees as the mate bond between us tightened against me violently but he didn't cast a glance at me. The world I knew froze at that moment " You can never be the Luna of the crescent moon pack as you are just a worthless omega I picked from the slum” he spat out his growl holding an irritation to me. “ Please stop this if this is a joke “ I begged with heavy sobs escaping my throat . He let out a cold laugh loud and clear ,my breath hoarse which cut through the thick layer of my skin. My head rolled back registering the words with my arms trembling with all eyes glaring at me. His eyes darkened turning deep brown as they flashed at me sending a shrill crawling down my spine. I took a step back in shock. " My heart only belongs to Morgan," he said, kissing her knuckles ,her cheeks flushed upon mentioning her name, his glare hot in my face. My eyes widened,my jaw dropped as fear coursed through my body with murmurs rippling through the crowd. " No this can't be true!" I screamed, crying my heart out . “ Stop acting like a victim Natalie we both know you never loved me” he barked accusing me sternly which left me on edge. My body heated up , silence creeping in with a confused frown creasing my eyebrows. “ What do you mean Darren?” I stammered trying to wrap my head around the words taken aback by the sudden statement. Darren stepped closer , brought his lips towards my ear and whispered. “ You can never match up to Morgan “ he said coldly, cutting me short which struck me like lethal poison. Something stirred in my chest crumbling like ashes drifting into nothing. My hands curled into fists with rage peeking into my soul as a wicked grin stretched across his face. “ Alpha Darren” Morgan called softly with hatred sizzling in her eyes as she looked at me. He held her hands affectionately with his gaze resting on her. And with that,he turned exiting the corridor followed by cheers erupting behind them. Just like that,my world collapsed.
