The Broken Wolf

"Beep Beep Beep" I wake up to the sound of my alarm seeing that it's already five in the morning. I have to wake up and make breakfast for the pack before school. That's right, you heard correctly, I said pack. I know what you're thinking, werewolves aren't real just stories and myths. That couldn't be farther from the truth we just know how to hide in plain sight. My name is Isabella and I am an omega wolf. I wasn't always a slave to the pack, at one time I had an amazing childhood. Then one day my life completely changed. Flashback: I was a normal ten year old, super excited for the summer days and the laughs that I shared with my mom. She was wonderful and always trying to do what was best for our tiny family. She was the strongest person I knew. She raised me alone for ten years and never complained or held it against me. She worked for everything we had. My sperm donor, left the minute she was pregnant. He denied their mate bond and decided on a chosen mate. He never looked back. I used to wonder about him but as I got older I realized he wasn't worth it. Then one beautiful summer day it all changed. I awoke with the birds singing and the smells of French toast downstairs. I loved my mom's cooking. I raced downstairs to see her dancing around the kitchen listening to music. She was a big fan of Jazz and was listening to some B.B.King. She always put a smile on my face. We ate breakfast as usual but then an alarm sounded. Instanly through the mind link from our Alpha we heard one word. Rogues. Instantly my mom went into action. She was an amazing warrior and a beautiful wolf. She was midnight blue with a silver star in her fur. She always told me it was because we were blessed by the goddess. After that fateful day, I no longer believed that. As she is trying to hide me away in the cupboards I could smell the rotting stench. "Mama" I whispered "I know babygirl. Stay quiet no matter what you hear. I love you" and she closed the door. Those would be the last words I heard from her. I could hear the dishes breaking and the growls coming from her as she fought them. I wished with all my might I could help but it was no use. We don't get our wolves til the age of thirteen. I was helpless and scared for her. I stayed in that cupboard for what seemed like ages. I was terrified but I knew to stay in til I heard my mom's voice, but it never came. We lived on the outskirts of our pack land. We wanted to be surrounded by woods and able to have a garden of our own. Although because of that, it took our Alpha all day to get to us. When Alpha Glen and his Beta Howard came it was too late. My mother was already gone from this world and back with the goddess. They yelled for me as they wandered our small home but I was too afraid to come out. I knew something was wrong when it wasn't her voice greeting me. That day I lost my mother, my voice, and I wished they would have found me too. Instead I was made to leave the only home I knew.
