Coats and Suits
I remember growing up like any other kid belonging to the great Hunter pack. My dad was the beta of the back and my mom was the pack doctor. We lived a great life thinking that everything was fine and peaceful, but we where so wrong.
It was like any other day I was around 5 years old, and my parents and I were relaxing in our back yard when we heard people running. My mom grabbed my arm and pulled me towards the house, but it was to late. There were three soft pop sounds and then a pain in my upper back. Instantly my vision went blurry, and my legs gave out from under me. The last time I saw my parents was when I was being picked up and thrown over someone shoulder before everything went black.
I woke up strapped to a table, my back sore and the sound of something beeping next to me. It was silent for a long time as I struggled to break free. My inner wolf tried to break free, but something was keeping her from taking form. All I could do was cry. Cry out to anyone that could help me.
It felt like days that I was by myself in the cold room before the only door opened. Two men walked in, one wore a white coat and smelled of something that burnt my nose. The other wore a black suit and could use a few pounds.
“I thought you were going to be getting me a high ranking one.” The one in the suit said after looking me over.
“She is sir. She is the daughter of the beta of the Hunter pack. They are the strongest pack in North America. And after we are done with her, she will be strong enough to take out the entire pack.” The man in the white coat said clasping his hands in front of him.
“How long will that take?” The large man squinted his eyes at the man with the coat.
“A couple years at the least, if we don’t want this one to die and last long then we need to take it slow?” My heart was beating in my chest and I could smell my own fear along with the man in the coat nervousness.
“Get it done as fast as you can. Make sure she is obedient, besides she might be good for things other than fighting when she gets older.” He said and I could smell his lust.
“Of course, sir. Now let us go talk about funding.” The man said leading the other out of the room. I whimpered and pulled as hard as I could on the straps holding my body down. My wolf howled inside of me wanting to break free. Wanting to run as far away from this nasty sunless room.
After struggling until my body shook with the strain I stopped. I hated this place. Even with my heighten hearing I could only hear my ragged breaths and the machine beeping with my heart beat. I did not know what to do. I wasn’t a highly trained wolf like my parents. I only knew how to change into my wolf and back. I wasn’t trained to fight yet and didn’t even know where my place in the pack was. I was only five and scared. I wanted my parents and I wanted the warm feeling of the pack but I wasn’t going to get for a very long time.
