Silver Moon

I woke up from the sound of people talking around me and the smell of something cooking. I cracked opened my eyes and instantly closed them from the bright lights. Whoever was talking has gone silent and I slowly opened my eyes again. “Watch it she is about to shift.” A woman said. I looked around meeting the eyes of a lady who looked to be around about as old as my mother. Behind her stood a tall well-built man watching me with guarded eyes. The lady gave me a smile and picked up a glass of water off the table near where I was laying. “How are you feeling?” She asked handing me the cup. I took a sip and cleared my throat. “Fine even though it is bright in here.” My voice sounded off. “Can you pull back your wolf?” The man behind her said in a stiff voice. I reached inside of me and felt my wolf asleep deep inside me. “My wolf is asleep right now.” I said meeting his eyes.  “Can you tell us what happened to you and why you ran through our lands in such a panic?” The lady asked. I looked away from then and turned my head. In front of me was a large me sitting above a dresser. My eyes widen and I scrambled out of the bed I was in. I stood in front of the mirror and touched my face seeing if the person in the mirror did the same. When the hand moved with me tears filled my eyes and rolled down my cheeks. I was no longer a five your old. I looked to be in my late teens, maybe 18 or 19. Silver scars were scattered across my skin and my nails were long and dirty resembling claws. Though the most different thing about my body was my eyes. They were a pail blue of my wolf, a blue that you don’t see in human eyes. “How long was I in my wolf form?” I asked myself touching my cheek. As a child my mother used to tell my stories of shifters who stayed in their animal form for too long their eyes would not shift back. “You know its not healthy to stay in your wolf form for to long.” The lady said shaking my out of my thoughts. “I didn’t have a choice.” I said turning around. “I’m sorry let me start over. My name is Beth and this is my mate Kyle. We are part of the Silver moon pack.” She said. “I’m Zena. I was a member of the Hunter pack.” “Was?” Kyle asked narrowing his eyes at me. Wolves that abandon their packs are mongrels worse than any other wolves. “Here put some clothes on and come downstairs with us. The alpha is going to want to hear your story.” Beth said handing me some clothes. I sighed and pulled on the clothes which hung off me like blankets. When I was dressed Beth and Kyle led me downstairs to an office. I guessed that we where in the pack house even though it was empty. Inside the office stood a man who oozed power. He was tall but more compacted than Kyle. He had long black hair tied back at the nape of his neck. He turned when we enter and gave me a once over. “I see that you are doing better.” He said. “Yes, thank you for helping me.” I said lowering my head showing the alpha respect. “Now can you tell me why you came running into our land like your tail was on fire?” He asked leaning against the wall. “I’m sorry I didn’t know that this was your land. I’m Zena, I used to be a part of the Hunters pack.” I said. His eyes narrowed and he looked me over again. “I remember years ago the Hunters pack asked other packs to help look for a pup that was taken from their land.” “That was probably me. My parents and I were drugged, and I was taken.” “And where did they take you?” “I don’t know. A lab? I don’t know how long I was there. I was shackled to a table and they did things. Gave me things in needles that burned me from the inside out. Cut me with different kinds of knives to see how long it took me to heal. Starved me to see how long I would last before I went crazy. Forced my to stay in my wolf form.” “You were taken from your pack over eight years ago.” He said eyes wide. Eight years I was gone. My parents probably think I am dead. “Its really been that long?” I asked more myself than the others. “I will call the hunters alpha and gave him come recover you.” The alpha said. “Thank you.” I said bowing my head again with tears coming to my eyes. “Go get some food and rest. I’ll come see you when I’m off the phone.” He said. I nodded and Beth grabbed my arm leading me away. It was early morning and my dad, and I were having breakfast when his phone rang. He pulled out his phone and sighed with an annoyed look on his face before answering his phone. “Greg what are you calling for this early in the morning?” My dad asked. “WE have a lost wolf that ran into our land last night. She called herself Zena.” Greg said and my dad’s eyes widen. “Zena? What do you mean?” My dad asked. “Last night the little she wolf ran into out land and passed out. She is scared up and seems like people did things to her, but she is ok.” “Greg Zena has been gone for eight years now.” “I thought the same thing, but it seems like its her. She even said she was from the Hunter pack. Come and take a look.” He said. “Fine I’ll grab her parents and we will head out that way.” My dad looked up meeting my eyes. I remember Zena. She was the only daughter of Meg and Kip. She was three years younger than me and used to follow me around when ever she was at the pack house. My dad had gotten off the phone and took a deep breath. “Zack go get Meg and Kip. Tell them we are going on a trip but don’t tell them about Zena yet. I’ll explain it to them on the way.” My dad said standing. I got up and headed to get Meg and Kip.
