It is my first day of sophmore year. luckily the school year just started so I don't have to play catch-up. unfortunately, Farrah, my new step sister, is one of the queen bees that rule the school. she loves to make my life a living hell when my dad isn't around, so school is her "free to do what she wants" zone.
I leave the office with my new class schedule and a sticky note with my locker number and combo on it. I am trying to memorize the combonation while walking. bad idea, I guess, since I walk face first into a locker door. with a loud "thwack", I fall to the ground.
" oh my god. are you okay?" I hear a boy ask. rubbing my head, I try to get up. I feel someone helping me to my feet.
"ow. uh, yeah I'm fine, thanks for the help." I say, straightening my blouse.
"no problem." I look up to see who I am talking to and freeze. Now, I read a lot of books and quite a few times, i read descriptions aboit guys makimg them sound so good looking, they could not possibly exist. i was so wrong.
the guy I'm talking to is at least six feet tall. (I am 5'3 so I feel really small). he has dark reddish brown hair and the most amazing blue/grey eyes with little gold flecks in them.
"are you sure you are okay?" he says. I snap out of it.
"oh. yeah. no, I'm great. um, I am Sedan, by the way." I stammer out. he chuckles.
"Brock. its nice to meet you. are you new?"
"yep. first day. I am looking for my locker."
"I can help with that. whats you locker number?"
"uh-" I look at the sticky note again. "742." he laughs and I look at him questioningly. then he steps aside and points at the locker next to the open one. 742. I laugh as well.
"looks like we are locker buddies. my names brayden. whats yours?"
"its Seda. nice to meet you." I hold out my hand to shake braydens, when I feel a shove.
"oh, brady-poo. I missed you this summer. I hope your was good." oh great. its ferrah. she tosses me a disgusted look. " mine was terrible. my mom remarried and my new step sister is so ugly and annoying." she said in a whiny tone.
"uh. yeah, it was an alreight summer. who's your new step sister? do I know her?" brayden asked.
"ugh. she isnt worth knowing. enough about her. do you want to hang out after school today?" she asks him, obviously hopeful.
"oh. um, I cant today. football practice, you know?" he tells her. I raise an eyebrow. is he just politely brushing her off? 10 bucks, she doesnt take the hint.
"thats okay. i can sit in the bleachers and watch. then we can hang after!" she says, smiling. turning to me she glares.
"thats not an open invitation by the way, freak." then she spins back around, fake smile plastered to her face.
"Bye, Brady-poo!" she flounces off with her silent squad. I hadn't even notices them tell then.
"well, that was...intence. she never said who her new sister is though. hmm." brayden said.
"funny thing. um, that would be me. my dad marries her mom."
"that explains her hostility. are you good?" brayden asked, concerned.
"huh? oh, I'm fine." I grin at him. the bell rings and people start to hustle to classes.
"time to head to home room. where are you going? I will point you in the right direction." Brayden offered.
"thanks. lets see, its geometry with mrs. Whiddon." I mentally groan, I hate math. brayden laughed again.
"looks like we will be seeing a lot of each other. I have the same class. its this way." he points down the hall. we grab our things and head to class. after introducing myself to the class, I am given a seat, and class begins.
my first day is half over. after geometry, I had history. I know my afyrtnoon has to be better. after lunch I have lab and art.
i am standing in line, waiting for whatever is on the menu, when I feel another shove. i don't even need to turn around to know who it is.
"can I help you, Ferrah?" I say, not bothering to turn arround.
"you need to stay away from Brayden. I don't how you go that elocker next to him or the same home room class, but he is going to be mine so you need to back off." stalker much.
"I am not deliberately going out of my way to sociaize with him. however, if he comes up and starts a conversation with me, I am not going to ignore him. I am next, so if you will excuse me, I'd like to get my food." I move to the counter. she scoofs and leaves. I will get it later at home, but it felt good to put her in her place.
the day is over, and I'm walking home when I hear a honk. i stop, look up, and grin.
"nice car, Brayden." I say as he pulls up, grinning ear to ear.
"thanks. it was my dads. my mom held onto it for me til I could drive." it was a beautiful metalic blue.
"what kind of car is it? the color is amazing."
"thanks its a 1969 Volvo P1800. I didnt even know it existed till today. I passed my test this weekend. my mom surprised me with it at lunch today. she was having it detailes this morning." he is completely smitten with this car. I smile at him, enjoying the excitement on his face.
"so. um, I was wondering if I could give you a ride home?"
"in this!? how could I say no! its beautiful." I reply. he reaches over and opens the door. i hop in and give him directions to my house.
