Chris's Home "I don't even know her, Dad, and you expect me to marry her. That's definitely not happening." Chris said walking away. "There seems to mistake here, am not asking for your opinion, you're getting married to Daniella, and that's final." Chris Father(Mr Down) said. "But Dad, that's not fair, it's not like we are in the 80s, are we? Why do I have to have to marry someone you choose? Besides what if she's not interested in getting married too? Chris asked. "Well you don't have to worry about if she's interested or not, because I already spoke with her dad and he also approve of you two getting married" his dad said walking towards the living room with a magazine in his hand. "Well she's also 24years old, so the both of you can figure it out together" his dad replied. Chris was so mad, he got angry and was about to leave when his father asked him "Where do you think you're going young man?" " Anywhere but here" He said. "Don't even think of running away and make sure you are home by 7pm, because her parents are coming over and I want you to meet them." Chris Father told Chris. "Well I don't agree to this marriage, so I don't have to meet anybody" Chris said walking away. His dad told him "Don't you dare...." Chris walked out and slammed the door. His dad sighed saying "what am I going to do with this boy, It's not like I can tell him the real reason why he has to get married to Daniella. Hmmm what do I now" Chris's dad thought to himself. Daniella's Home "You are joking right, because this has to be a joke" Daniella said to her dad. "Daniella hear me out, there is a reason behind it." Daniella's dad (Mr John) said. "Oh really, and what would that be huh, No dad tell, what would that be, because am really curious why you want me to get me married so badly and so soon. Because I really can't think of a reason, so dad tell me, what would that be?" She asked her dad in anger. Her dad replied her "The thing is, I can't tell you reason yet. I will..." "You can't what dad? You want me to marry someone have never seen before, and you won't tell me the reason. Wow dad just wow." Daniella said shunning her dad. "Just listen to me Daniella" her dad told her. "And what exactly am I suppose to listen to huh dad, you tell me exactly what you you want me to listen to?" She told her dad. " I will tell you when the time is right, but not now." Her dad said. "Ok then, I will also get married when I hear the reason. I think that's fair. Until then this topic is closed." She said and walked out on her dad. "Daniella, Daniella" her dad kept calling her, but she did not respond. " What do I do now, it's not like I can... Or let me call Mr Downs so we can discuss what to do next." He thought. He brought out his phone and called Chris' dad number. "Hello Mr Downs, I just talked with my daughter, and she is not willing to get married. What about Chris, what did he say?" Daniella's dad asked "Really? "I know that, that is why.........wait a minute, is there anything Daniella can't do without like her hobby or something?" Mr Downs asked "why do ask that?" Mr John asked "Maybe we can negotiate with them" Mr Downs replied "And do you think that would work" Mr John said "well it won't hurt to try" Mr Downs said. "Ok then I will see what I can do" Mr John said "me too" Mr Downs replied. After talking they got up and went to there respective homes. The Next Morning at The Downs House Chris woke up, took his bath and got dress. When he was done dressing up, he went downstairs, he saw his Dad at the dinning table and greeted him "good morning dad" "good morning son, how was your night, hope you slept well?" Mr Downs said. Chris was a bit anxious, he thought to himself "what is wrong with him, why is he in a good mood or has he given up on marrying me off? I don't mind as long as he is not pressuring me into getting married again" so he answered "I slept well" "that's good to hear then" Mr Downs said. Chris kept looking at is Dad anxiously. Few minutes after, Chris started looking for his keys, he kept searching and searching but he couldn't find it. So he asked his dad "Dad I can't find my keys, did you see it?" Yes I did" Chris dad said. "So where is it" Chris asked "with me" his Dad replied "can I have it then" Chris ask his dad "No I won't give it to you, not until you do what I want you to do" Mr Downs said. Chris was so pissed that he kicked the shelf in front of him. So ask his dad "Can you at least give me the keys to my studio?" "No I won't, and even if I should, I doubt if there will be anything left there, I had the studio cleaned out, so everything in that studio is with me" Mr Downs said. Chris was shocked and angry at the same time, that he busted out in anger. "Why would you do that, the studio is mine, mom gave it to me before she passed away so it's mine and I want it back" "well she might be your mum, but she was also my wife so whatever belongs to her, belongs to me too, so I have every right to it just like you. And besides the studio is in my name. So unless you get married to Daniella, we have no deal." Mr Downs told Chris. Chris fell to his knees and broke into tears and started begging his dad. "Dad please am begging you" Mr Downs stood up and said "unless you get married we have nothing to talk about" and he went upstairs to his room and shut the door. Mr Downs stood behind the door, looking at the ceiling with tears in his eyes he said "Honey what else can I do, to convince him that, am doing all this from him" That Same Morning at the John's Home "Am not giving you and that's final" He said. Daniella was so surprised, because her dad has screamed at her before. She said "but dad I..." Mr John said cutting her off "don't but dad me, have I ever ask you for anything before, am very sure I haven't, instead I do everything in my power to give all that you want. Why is it that now that I need you to do something, you have refused to do it, even after telling you that it's for your sake ehn? Daniella walked towards her dad and hugged him and said with tears in her eyes "dad am sorry, I didn't mean to get you angry, it just that..." He did not allow her to finish what she was saying when he said "I know what you are going to say, but trust me when I say, it's all for you. And when the time is right you will find out by yourself, Ok?" "Ok" she said "am sorry for screaming at you, I didn't mean to do that. Don't worry I will give you back your credit cards" He said. The Next Day Mr John called Mr Downs to tell that Daniella has agreed to the marriage and Mr Downs said "really? That's great news, Chris has also agree to it. So what do we do now?" Mr John said "I think it's time they meet each other" "And when should that be" Mr Downs asked "as soon as possible" Mr John said. "What about tonight by 7pm, at our usual spot, will that work for you?" Mr Downs asked. "It most certainly will" Mr John said in excitement. They hung up the call and each spoke to their child about the meeting by 7pm. Both Chris and Daniella agreed. When it was 7pm, Chris and his dad were at the table that was reserved for the meeting waiting for Daniella and her dad. Few minutes later, Daniella and her dad walked in.
