The invitation said "Sterling Financial Foundation." It did not say "Julian Croft will be in attendance." It should have.
Maya stared at the heavy cardstock in her hands which was cream colored with gold embossing and had The Sterling Financial Foundation logo at the top. The words "Annual Charity Gala" in script, so fancy that she had to squint to read them.
Harrison had left it on her desk that morning. "Aldridge has a table," he had said. "I'd like you to represent us."
"The energy client presentation is next week."
"The gala is Friday so you have six days."
"I don't have anything to wear."
