Chapter Three: Mine

1003 Words
Grant POV "Are we sure it was an orc that attacked those two females." My second in command, Varge said "I don't know," I said, not convinced that it was an orc either. "All I know is the witches said that the females had an orc scent on them, but they didn't recognize who scent it was," I added. Varge just rolled his eyes and said "Yeah, like we can trust what the witches say." I didn't say anything even though I kind of agree. "Well, we will find out soon enough. One of the females is awake." Varge snaps his head up and snarl "Why are we going along with this? Why doesn't the council get rid of those humans? " He said, sounding agitated. "Because we have to know if this is an isolated thing and find the orc responsible for the attack." I said and then added,"I'm going to the hospital to talk to her." "I can go if you want, I'm sure you got better things to do than dealing with some human." The way Varge said human with so distaste told me he wouldn't be up for the task. "No, I'm the leader it my responsibility to protect the pack, so I'll go." "OK, but I think you're wasting your time." Varge said and then added,"The sooner we get rid of those humans, the better." I didn't say anything as I walked off. About an hour later, I'm walking into the hospital. This town only has one hospital, but I've never stepped foot in it before. Orcs like to keep to themselves, and we believe in healing ourselves. When I first get there, I'm greeted by a minotaur. "Hey, you must be Grant leader of the orcs I'm Dr. wood." He said. "How do you know who I am?" I say suspiciously "Because no orc would come to the hospital if it wasn't about business, and I guess you're here to talk to Amiela." Smart creature knowing about orcs "Who?" I ask, not knowing who he is talking about. "Amiela, the human woman that we found and is awake now." He said. Oh, so that was the human female name. "Why did you learn her name ? It seems like a waste." The minotaur looked at me and said, "I'm going to petition the council and convince them not to get rid of the humans." I looked at him with a shock expression "Why?" "It doesn't seem right to kill them after we save them, and I think they could live in town and love it here." He said with hope in his eyes. "The council would never agree to that they're too much of a liability." I say "How are two humans a liability, and with the leader of the orc on our side, they might listen." He said to me like I agreed to help him. "First of all, the humans could try to escape and bring other humans to destroy us. Humans have no loyalty and honor, or they could have someone looking for them, and they'll come here. Those humans will cause nothing but trouble. Also, why would you think I would agree to help you?" I say The minotaur is now looking concerned "Just talk to Amiela and get to know her, and you'll see she no threat." He said "I was planning on talking with her anyway, but that's not going to change my mind." I say "Just keep an open mind, OK?" He said to me, annoyed I just nodded, knowing there was no use to continue this conversation because there is no way I'm going to change my mind. I follow the minotaur into the room where they're keeping the humans. One human is on the bed, but she is still not awake. The minotaur said "Amiela" Then I see another human who was sitting in the chair next to the unconscious human. As soon as our eyes met, I knew I was screwed because sitting in front of me was my mate. Now, only one word was going through my head. "Mine" she's my mate?! I have a mate, and she human how is this possible? I realized I was staring, but I couldn't look away. She is the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. Her eyes are a mix of green and brown. Her hair is wavy and dark brown. It goes all the way down her back. "Amiela, this is Grant, the leader of the orcs," the minotaur said. My mates eyes widened as she looked at me. My mate is frightened of me, and that pain me. I just realized her name is Amiela. I heard the minotaur say her name before, and it just was another name that I would forget eventually. After I'm done with this case, I thought I would never see her again. But now, seeing her, I know I'll never let her go. Amiela, my beautiful, amazing mate, I will protect you until my last dying breath this I promise you. Amiela POV The creature before me was huge and tall. If I'm estimating about a foot taller than me and muscular. He got green skin and tusks protruding from both sides of his mouth. He's staring at me with his yellow eyes that look like liquid gold. I feel like I could get lost in those eyes for hours, maybe even days. I should be repulse and afraid, but I'm not. There is something about him that makes me feel comfortable. He just stands there looking at me, so I guess I'm going to have to speak first. "Hi," I said barely a whisper. I don't know if he heard me. He grunted, and he was still looking at me. It was like he was waiting for something or thinking about something. It was hard to read his facial expressions. I went to get up from my chair, but I got dizzy, my vision blurred, and then everything went black.
