Chang-ho was uncomfortable.
Really uncomfortable.
He couldn't believe Daichi had seriously dragged him into the mist of the royal family to have dinner with them.
To someone else this would have been a moment to remember, a sweet memory which could be used to brag about among other commoners, aka peasants.
But for Chang-ho this was like a death trap he knew not to make eye contact and not to talk without being given permission; Well it wasn't like he was willing to say anything, I mean what kind of conversation could Chang-ho possibly give them?
An insight of the country's current affairs? Nope
A delightful commentary on the artistic heritage of the royal family? Certainly not.
So what?
Chang-ho was really feeling out of place fiddling with his fingers as Daichi and the king had a simple conversation.
He was actually glad that he had been taught table manners else who knows what embarrassing scene he would cause if he didn't know how to differentiate between a dessert and soup spoon.
To be honest he had always wondered what was the need for such an infinite amount of cutleries when the majority of foods could be eaten with simple, traditional chopsticks. He thought it was a waste of time and energy, I mean why make life complicated?
Chang-ho was beginning to space out when the Queen started talking.
"So Daichi-ssi what brings you back here after so long, pardon me but if I remember correctly the last time you had clearly stated that you had no future intention of coming back ,didn't you?"
Chang-ho couldn't help but take a glance at the woman, he was actually glad that he wasn't directly in her line of vision, he had seen her walk around the palace numerous times but he had never directly observed her face to face, she was scary.
Really scary, she had this very intimidating aura around her much like her son, he could actually see where Haneul had gotten his bad character from as three king was a kind and generous man.Chang-ho actually didn't like the tone the Queen had used when speaking to Daichi, it was pretty Aggressive ,it almost felt like she was attacking him.
He could tell Daichi was a bit uncomfortable too as his jaw was pretty tense too, also the usual sweet smile which was the signature of the handsome man's face seemed so...fake?
"Well I was really young and foolish when I made those statements ,it's only natural for me to return to my father's house, isn’t it mother?"
The Queen scoffed ungracefully whilst Haneul suddenly hit his hands violently at the table.
"do not insult your queen by calling her your mother, your mother is probably somewhere out on the street sucking d**k for money " he said venomously
"Enough !!" Interjected the king
To be honest Chang-ho had almost pissed himself he would have never imagined that he'd experience such a family drama right in front of his eyes.
If Chang-ho had felt out of place earlier imagine right now. It was like 10 times worse. He felt suffocated by the strong tension between the 3 royals.
He felt like he wasn't supposed to witness this...
He wasn't supposed to find their weakness.
