“Wow, I am destroying you guys.” Kyle chuckled, leaning a little closer to the tv as he got more into the game. “I’m assuming when you say y’all you really mean just Stefan and Zane right? Because you’re nowhere close to “destroying” me.” Eze retorted with a teasing grin. I let out a small laugh as I set my controller down on my lap, giving up in playing and deciding to just watch them race instead. If you can’t tell, we’re playing Mario Kart and I’m sure you can guess who the two most competitive people here are; Obviously the siblings. Eze wasn’t lying when she said Kyle was nowhere close to destroying her but that doesn’t mean she’s destroying him either, they’re both neck and neck. Both of them get a power up at the sametime but Kyle uses his first, it’s a banana peel; Ezes kart spins out of control when she runs into, allowing Kyle to completely pass her up. "Dammit." Eze grumbled under her breath while Kyle tried to hid the small victorious smirk from spreading across his face. Surprisingly, even though I wasn’t playing anymore, I’m still really into this game. I leaned toward as Kyle got ready to make his final turn before crossing the line and then I heard a yelp I turned to the side to see him being pulled back by Zane. temporarily dropping the controller to grip onto Zane's arms for support. I watched as he turned to look at Zane with furrowed brows, quietly questioning why he had pulled him back; Zane sent him a nervous smile as he slowly rubbed his hands on the sides of kyles stomach, “Sorry babe, didn’t want you to strain your eyes with how close you were to the TV.” He said, answering Kyle's silent question. Kyle opened his mouth to respond but then stopped, his eyes squinted as he tilted his head with a pointed glare before glancing up at the TV. Just as his eyes made contact with the big screen Eze passed the finish line, cheering as she did. Kyle stared shocked at the screen, blinking a few times before he finally broke out his daze, “What the..?” He started, trailing off as he watched Eze walk up to Zane. We both watched as Eze walked up to Zane and handed him a twenty, “thank for your service.” She said, walking out the room as Zane smirked and tipped his imaginary hat. Kyle turned to Zane with a raised brow as he looked between the money and Zane before stopping and staring at Zane with squinted eyes, "Ek hoop dat twintig dollar die moeite werd was om nie seks te hê nie. (I hope twenty dollars was worth not having sex.)" He said, making Zanes smirk fall. "Wait baby you don't actually mean that, right? It's just a game." he said nervously, starting to get up from his spot on the bed, but ultimately sitting back down after Kyle glanced his way. He didn’t say anything else as he grabbed his bowl full of trail mix and left the room, "What did he say?" I asked once he had fully left. Zane sighed as he looked from the door to me, “It’s.. nothing important.” He answered, giving a small chuckle as he nervously scratched the back of his neck “He just doesn’t like to lose, especially when the other person cheated..” I gave a small nod of understanding, watching as the beta stretched by leaning back against the bed. It felt awkward as we both looked at anything but each other, the argument from earlier still hung over us and I could still vividly remember everything that has pissed me off. Me and Zane haven’t spoken a word to each other since then and I haven’t apologized for lashing out at him, but truthfully, that’s more because I still think he’s in the wrong. The chance of the person you’re dating before you turn eighteen being your mate is low, especially for humans. So why would he start a relationship with someone who had such low chances of being his mate. That just selfish. My thoughts were cut short by the beta loudly clearing his throat. “Hey look, I’m sorry if I offended you.” He started, breaking the uncomfortable silence. “I know you’re having a hard time with how things are with Ade and stuff.” I looked at him as he continued “Can we just move on and forget this conversation even happened?” He questioned hopefully. “No.” I said, causing his hopeful expression to morph back into a frown as he furrowed his brows, “You might not be “planning” to hurt him but you are going to, I can’t ignore that and neither should you.” He let out an annoyed sigh and I watched as he leaned back up to face me with a not so nice looking face, “Look, besides the Sielsoekend, I haven’t even really been looking for my mate.” He revealed as I squinted my eyes at how terribly that sounded “If the Moon Goddess wanted me to find my mate I would’ve found them then. Plus, I don’t want to hurt him either; I don’t want to leave him.” I scoffed as he finished, does he really not hear himself?, “And you don’t hear how selfish that sounds?” I questioned coldly, earning yet another annoyed groan from where he sat. “You’re depriving your mate of finding their mate, you!” “If it was up to me I would never find them.” I widened my eyes as I listen to him grumble under his breath. “Are you f*****g serious!?” I questioned angrily, “How about this, you’re depriving Kyle of finding someone who could love him unconditionally!” I shouted, not at all worried that someone would hear us through the cracked door of the soundproof room. “I do love him unconditionally.” He growled, his eyes once again turning an orangish color for the second time in just three hours. “Unconditionally? There’s no way you could feel even an ounce of the love you’re gonna feel for your mate for Kyle.” I retorted. I watched with wide eyes as he shot up from his seated position and walked towards the door. “Where are you going?!” I questioned. “I’m leaving, before I say something I can’t take back.” He said, not turning to face me. “Why stop yourself? Just say it.” I taunted, too angry to stop myself from throwing shots at him. “No, you’re my Luna and I will not disrespect you. No matter how angry I am.” My jaw clenched as I noticed how formal his voice had become; For some reason the fact that he was speaking formally to me pissed me off more than the mate issue. “I’m not your damn Luna.” I seethed, glaring as he shook his head with an unamused smile. “Yes, you are. Even if you’re not acting like the best one at the moment, you still are. So I will continue to show my respect.” He said, beginning to exit the room. “Fine! If you wanna “treat me with respect” so bad then how about you only address me as Luna from now on? Only my friends can call me by my name.” I growled out, my adrenaline pushing me to also stand to my feet as well. He didn’t turn as he let out a chuckle, a dry unamused one “Right, of course.” He said to the ground before turning my way and bowing his head. “Apologies, my Luna.” He gritted out through his noticeably clenched jaw and I could clearly hear the strain in his voice as he spoke. My mouth went dry as I slowly swallowed nothing but air; He leaned back up, making eye contact with me for the first time since we began speaking again. His eyes were empty, showing no emotion as his face became stoic; Like a beta speaking to his alpha, his Luna, his superior. Professional, respectful, irritating. I hated it, but it’s what I asked for; I mean I had purposely shouted it because I knew it would upset him “Zane-“ before I could get another word out he was walking out the room, making a soft click sound as he went. My face fell when he left and I said nothing as I continued to stare at the now closed door, “Dammit..” I grumbled, leaning into the beanbag as I covered my face with my hands, sighing into the air. “Wow, that was um.. harsh?” Leon said, his voice taking on a questioning tone as he spoke. “Yeah..” I sighed, replying back into our link. “Hopefully he’ll forgive us when you apologize.” He commented but I remained silent “You are going to apologize, right?” He questioned, growling when I still didn’t reply. “I know you think our only friend here is Kyle but you’re wrong, Zane has been nothing but nice and funny since we’ve met him.” He lectured “Besides Ricky, Zane has been a breath of fresh air we’ve needed to help deal with this whole Ade situation.” I remained quiet as I listened to him rant, he’s right. “You crossed the line today, so you need to apologize and you will.” He reprimanded. “I know.” I finally sent back through our link “I just, really don’t like what he’s doing.” I said with a sigh. “Then it’s a good thing it has nothing to do with us. They’re happy; Kyle, the one you’re worried about, is happy. Let it go.” I didn’t reply and this time he just grumbled something under his breath before receding into the back of my mind and blocking me out. He’s right, this is none of my business. But despite that I for some reason still can’t get over it. I haven’t known either of them for long and yet they have become important to me, especially Kyle. “I really shouldn’t be feeling bothered over something like this..” I mumbled, breathing out towards the ceiling as I frowned into my hands. Why is this bothering me?
