Chapter Thirty-Six Philip Carol sat with his elbows on the desk and his chin resting on his hands. He listened in silence as Rodney Williams updated him on the interview he’d attended with Jack Swan. ‘That’s not good news about Gail,’ said Philip. ‘How did Jack take it?’ ‘He didn’t want to talk about it,’ said Rodney. ‘What’s your assessment of how he’s taking it?’ ‘I’d say it came as a bit of a shock, especially the bit about her being shot.’ ‘So, definitely not an accident?’ ‘Not according to the police.’ ‘Wonder who told them Jack had introduced her to Richard Clarke,’ said Philip. ‘He was pretty adamant that hadn’t happened.’ ‘Someone had to have introduced them.’ ‘More likely to have been Tony or Joe,’ said Rodney. ‘Wasn’t she working with Joe on her business idea?’ Philip
