Chapter Forty-Three
With DI Henry and DS Fuller in Port Stanley, Carl decided to interview Tony Slade with DC Paterson. When he arrived at the interview suite, Philip Carol was sitting next to Slade across the table from DC Paterson.
‘What are you charging my client with, Chief Inspector?’
‘Murder.’
‘That’s a serious charge to make,’ said Philip. ‘Who is he supposed to have killed?’
‘Doug Clarke,’ said Carl.
‘That’s ridiculous,’ said Philip. ‘He has an alibi for the day Clarke was killed.’
Carl placed the report he’d received from Forensics onto the table between them. ‘Not according to this.’ He turned it around so Philip could read it. ‘This is a comparison of your client’s DNA profile with a DNA profile extracted from a shirt covered in Doug Clarke’s blood.’
