Chapter Forty-Four
It was mid-afternoon on Monday when Simon Winter, a lawyer from Carol and Associates, arrived at the Port Stanley Police Station.
By the time of his arrival, DI Henry had been briefed by DCI West on his interview with Tony Slade and on the findings of the search of James Weir’s house. He had also read the preliminary report from Forensics summarising what they’d uncovered in the drug lab on the station.
DI Henry was closing his folder when DS Fuller came into the office they were sharing. ‘We’re ready to start, Inspector.’
Angus Slade was sitting in silence beside the young lawyer representing him when DI Henry and DS Fuller entered the interview room. The constable that had been guarding the prisoner stepped out of the room and closed the door.
