Fifteen Guthrie carried the drinks from the bar over to Jacquie. They had decided on the Invertay Hotel, a brand-new building just along the docks from the forensics lab. They walked the short distance to the hotel. When they entered the bar, Guthrie headed to fetch the drinks and Jacquie found a quiet booth in the corner. She had taken the high-backed double seat of the booth when Guthrie returned with a gin and tonic and a bottle of Corona. He took a seat across from her. "Can't understand why I continue to buy these things," he said as they saluted each other by raising their drinks.
