Sixteen Friday, 28th March, 2014 The evening had, in the end, been a pleasant experience as Jacquie managed to peel away the layers of reticence Guthrie had put in place after his divorce. It was obvious he was uncomfortable in a one-on-one social situation with a woman, but she smartly kept to subjects surrounding police work, and if the conversation did stray from issues regarding the ones who got away, or comparing notes on cases they didn’t realise they had both worked on through the years, she was quick to sense Guthrie’s unease and unwillingness to open up about more personal topics and steered them back on course -- serious assaults, r**e cases and murders.
