The night had settled around the Devil’s Sons compound like a blanket—cool, quiet, deceptively calm. Sami sat beside Ace on the front steps of the clubhouse, her fingers laced with his. Neither of them spoke for a while. 
They didn’t need to. The silence was doing enough heavy lifting. After everything they’d seen and survived, the stillness between them was its own kind of sacred.


Her thumb brushed against his knuckles. “I saw someone today. From before.”
Ace glanced at her, jaw tight. “From your past?”


She nodded. “Someone I used to know. Someone who knew me back then. They were working with Morrigan’s crew.” Her voice cracked, but she didn’t flinch. “They didn’t say anything… but they looked right at me.”
