CHAPTER 2: MOTHER, WHY ARE WE Here?  The week passed by in a blink of an eye, it was already Friday afternoon and we were on our way to Balito. Aunt Liza's been stiff ever since we left home and it was kind of freaking me out to be honest. Whatever she was hiding was huge, that I knew. We drove in to a huge single storey house. The place was quite foreign to me, i'd never been there before but aunt seemed to be very familiar with it so I followed her inside. The moment we stepped inside I felt chills running down my spine. The place wasn't warm at all. Judging it from the outside I had thought that it would be warm and homey but it wasn't, in fact I wanted to turn my back and live the place. I was pulled from my thoughts by a vivid voice that came from the hallway. "Sister... You're finally here." A man said making his way to us. He was tall and buff with his hair cut short. Although he wasn't scary or intimidating there was something about him that bugged me or maybe I just didn't like his face. Aunt Liza and I both stood there without saying a word, she smiled faintly and grabbed my hand tight. 'what's going on' I thought to myself. "Ah... And this must be the-" he paused for a second. "Our lovely niece." something flashed in his eyes but disappeared before I could make out what it was. I smiled sheepishly and nodded not knowing whether to greet him or just keep my mouth shut since my aunt wasn't saying anything. - "Brother, it's been too long." she finally said. I could feel her loosening up a bit. They must have not liked each other, heck I didn't even know my grandmother had other children other than aunt Liza and my dad. Now I could see why, they may have been on bad terms. We sat on the couch in the living room. "Yes it has been. Meere has grown to be quite a beautiful young woman, brother would be so proud." I blush a little at his complement. " Yes, Jonathan would have been proud.?" aunt replies. "What's there to be proud of?" A woman's voice came from the other side of the room. I snapped my head, my gaze fell on her. My grandmother. The woman who hated me ever since I was a child. My aunt of course never told me why my own grandmother would detest me this much but I had an idea. She walked toward us and sat on the single couch next to the man I suppose was uncle. "Mother please, that's not what we are here for." Aunt said with a serious face. The atmosphere had turned unpleasant now that she had shown up with that kind of attitude while she was the one who called us in the first place. "Did I say something wrong?" She scoffed. I rolled my eyes, who the f**k does that old hag think she is to talk down on me like that. I wanted to say something but my aunt beat me to it. "Mother, why are we here?" she said completely ignoring her ridicule. She glared at her then said "You are right. We have far more important things to discuss." With that being said, a servant came and bowed his head. "Madam, the rooms are ready." He stated. " Alright. You two go and freshen up and come have dinner. We'll discuss the important matters then." I sneered sectrety. 'She must enjoy giving orders to others. ' I thought. We got up and followed the man whose name I later found out was Zachary. He seemed to know aunt Liza because he called her" Young miss". He was very polite unlike someone, or was it because of his profession. Ah... It doesn't matter what his reasons were. It's not like I was going to spend the rest of my days seeing him anyway. We got into our respective rooms, mine was nice, elegant to say the least. A very big and comfortable bed was placed in the middle and I know it was comfortable because the first thing I did upon entering the room was trow myself on it. There was a door on the left side of the room which I soon discovered was a bathroom. I went in and took a shower, at least the water was nice and warm unlike the atmosphere in the house. Mine and aunt's house was small compared to their mansion but our house was warm and cosy. I finished showering and settled for my black yoga pants a white tank top. A nock came from the door just as I finished getting dressed. I answered and Zachary walked in. "Young miss, dinner is about to be served." he said. "oh yes, thank you. I'll be there in a minute." With that Zachary nodded and left the room. I decided dinner could wait for a few minutes, I hadn't talked to my boyfriend in a while. I took my phone and called his number. It rang for a while without being answered but was answered as i was about to hang up. "Hello" A woman's voice came through. 'What's going on. Why is this woman answering Omar's phone.' "Hello! " the voice sounded again. "Yes, hi. May I speak to Omar? " I enquired. "No, not really.... He's a bit tied up at the moment. " She giggled. 'Does she think I'm joking?Wait... Her voice sounds familiar though. Who is she? I'm sure I've heard her voice before.' I was still in thought when I heard the beeping sound in my ear. She hung up. The b** hung up on me. The audacity that woman has. She definitely had something to do with Omar otherwise she wouldn't have dared treat me like that. How could Omar do this to me. He said he had some work to finish before coming back home. Work my foot. "Meera, come. Mother is waiting" my aunt said outside the door. "coming... "I said getting up. Omar could wait, the old witch called us here for a reason. I immediately dismissed all thought of Omar and his ho* and walked to the dining room I was famished.
