CATHERINE'S POV

After walking for hours, I couldn't wait to get some rest and get away from Theo. Speaking of Theo, he has been awfully quiet. What is it with boys and acting stupid?

"Hey, you have been quiet for a while now, starting to get scared? Are you looking for squirrels to charm? They should match your taste. Or is it the other way round?" I said while approaching the end of the road.

I didn't get a response, and knowing Theo he would never stay silent to that {not that I have known him for long}. I turned back to check on him and all of a sudden I couldn't find him anymore.

"Theo? This is not the time to play games. It is definitely not funny" I said as loud as I possibly could.

Now what do I do? I seriously have to baby sit a grown male {well kinda grown}. I turned behind and walked back to find him but i noticed something that freaked me out. The leaves I kept seeing were completely different from what I had seen when passing the road initially. I always knew I was crazy sometimes, you know trauma and all, but not this crazy.

After screaming Theo's name for a long time without response, I started to panic {did I ever mention I have panic attacks? Well, now you know}. Breathing suddenly became hard. I had no idea where I was, I was pretty much lost, and I might have lost another family member. I tried walking a few steps, hoping to find Theo or at least find a way out of this place, then suddenly I heard voices. I couldn't tell if they were masculine or feminine, but I was relieved. As I walked closer to the sound of the voices, my breath became heavier and my eyes became duller. I saw a horse from afar and i tried getting closer, but I passed out on my next step. My body had finally reached its limit.

You know what's more scary than being in a strange place? Being abducted by the people who live in that strange place. Well, I won't say I was kidn*pped, considering the fact that I passed out, and I was practically saved. But who the hell sees an unconscious girl on the road, saves her, treats her and keeps her in a cage.

I woke up with a slight headache and I noticed my clothes changed which made me worry, and my injuries had all disappeared. I was no longer in the crazy forest but I was in something else, something no better than living in the wild, I was in a cage. I still haven't seen Theo. Honestly I hoped he was here too.

"Heyy, anybody out there?" I shouted, but nobody answered

Suddenly I heard footsteps approaching. A tall man appeared, he wore a purple silk robe and looked like some royalty from movies. He walked in with a staff looking like an impersonation of dumbledoore from Harry Potter.

"Hi, sir?" I said.

"Hmm, you speak?" he said in a deep hoarse voice.

"Of course I do. I do not come with a mute button" I said.

"So you are a sorcerer after all" he said underneath his breath.

"A what? Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?" I shouted.

"Tell me child, what faction do you come from?" he asked.

"Before I answer any more of your questions, you have to answer mine" I said

"Go on" he said with no interest in his face

"Where am I and who are you?" I asked

"I am Lingram, 11th of the 12 elders" he replied

"And i am guessing that is suppose to be something important" I said

"Hmm, a child's ignorance never seizes to change" he said

"Okay sir, can you let me out first" I said

"Before that, what faction are you from and what were you doing in the Avala?" he asked

"First off, I have no idea what Avala is and secondly, I am not from any faction, I am from New York, it's a state" I replied

"She speaks the truth" a voice echoed from every direction

The voice was feminine, loud yet calming, it had some sort of authority in it which made my bone shiver but yet got me beguiled. It is hard to explain

"Who was that?" I asked

"Set her free" Lingram said

Some men and women came to lower the cage and open it, I walked out and it finally dawned on me how what I was putting on looked like. I wore a black shirt like material {that's the easiest thing to relate it to}, a brown animal skin trouser {not exactly comfortable, but not bad either} with sandals. Picture an ancient bounty hunter from texas, yes thats the look

"When you realized I could speak, you called me a sorcerer, why?" I asked

"Find somewhere to rest and go to wherever you came from" Lingram said

"I might have skipped out the part about me having nowhere to go to. I dont even know how I got here, and how did my clothes change? hope you didn't-" I said

"I did no such thing child" he said in a furious tone

"Why so worked up Lingram? She is just a child and she has all right to ask" A young man said from afar

I turned to the direction of the voice and I saw a young man walk in. Ever heard of a perfect cupcake before? Well. I just saw one, one that looks finger l*****g good. He would be about 6'4, light skinned, with black braided hair and ash colour eyes, his hands looked large enough to hold mine to the wall. and he had the arm and abs to compliment it. I gulped as he walked towards me, which was surprising because I was never one to care about guys or looks.

"Sorry about Lingram, he probably didn't have much fun as a child" he said

"Tell me something that would actually surprise me" I said

"Pretty with nice humour" he said with a smile

I weirdly couldn't stop smiling. I guess this is something I could get used to but I had to find Theo and figure out what the hell is going on so I could head home as soon as possible

"What happened after I passed out" I asked

"You got saved by my aunt, she brought you home and took care of you, we couldn't sense any magic from you, and basically every one has magic, some can be dormant but there's always a trace" he said

"I don't know if you think I am a kid, but this isn't a tv show or story book." I said

"You haven't ever seen magic?" he asked

"I sure would love to see your 'magic' that you speak of" I replied

He looked at me and smiled

"Are you thirsty darling?" he asked

"A little bit ?" I replied

A glass cup floated towards me, filled with water, The black in me freaked out and screamed{just like every normal human would have done}.

"Easy love, it's pure" he said

The cup floated towards his hands and he took a sip, gesturing to me that it's safe to drink

I reluctantly took a gulp and it actually felt really refreshing

"Okay that's crazy, really crazy, but if you saved me why put me in a cage" I asked

"Humans without magic have a hard time speaking because of an ancient curse put on them. Although it's rare for humans to not have magic, and humans with magic are called sorcerers. But we didn't put you in a cage because of that, we imprisoned you because we thought you were an enemy infiltrating the southern faction" he said

I remember Lingram mentioning something about factions earlier on

"Lingram mentioned something like that earlier. He asked what faction I came from. What are this factions?" I asked

"I am starting to think you are from another world entirely or another country" He said

"Considering the use of magic, I am guessing another world" I said

"It has long been rumoured that there was a world outside this world, but that is ancient history." he said

A man walked to whisper something in his ear and his mood obviously darkened

"Everything good?" I asked

"Yeah sure. Anyways this world is called Vildom. It is divided into continents, countries and factions. There are 4 continents and each continent has 4 countries while each country has 4 factions. The continents are Nobayria, Garland, Trysium and Albeegar. We are in Trysium. Trysium on its own is divided into Serges, Yele, Baldia and Eke" he said

"So what faction is this?" I asked

"Southern Baldia, The factions are divided into North,South,East and West in every country. Since you have nowhere to go you can stay here" he said

"One more thing, where is the forest you found me?" I asked

Maybe I could go back to look for Theo

"You mean the Avala. It is a really dangerous place. It is at the center of the factions and the easiest way to travel, also the easiest way to get lost and die. I wouldn't advice you go close to it. Aside the factions there are many lands of mystery where strange phenomenons lie, home of magical beasts and treasures. These places are not owned by any faction, and are called 'Avala'" he said

"So the forest isn't the Avala but part of it?" I asked

"No, the forest is call Ara, it is the Avala of Baldia. It is where we believe souls of sorcerers in Baldia go to rest" he said

"Uhm I didn't appear in Vildom alone. I came with my- cousin, and I need to go find him" I said

I wasn't comfortable calling Theo my Nephew

"I am sorry there is nothing you can do for now, he may be dead already, or far away in another faction"

My heart suddenly sunk.

"I would go find him myself" I said

"I won't stop you but you can't find enter Ara withouth magic, you'd die" he said

"Is there no solution?" I asked

"Either you somehow get magic in you or you wait till the next solstice in a month" he said

I want to barge into that forest right now, but if what Mr hottie here says is right, then I have no choice

"I would wait. What's your name by the way" I asked

"Ethan" he replied with a smile

"I am Catherine" I said

"Nice name. That's a name I wouldn't forget" he said

"Thanks" I said with a smile

Despite all the flirts with Ethan, I couldn't help but worry about Theo. I hope he is fine.
