Episode 5 - I know I will go Back To You

1149 Words
My eyes opened groggily, I hated this. I always liked to be smart. But where was I? My eyes refused to open, was I in the tiger's den? Was he saving me up for dinner? I had lost my phone. There was no way I could browse how to get out of a tiger's den alive and unscathed. The smell of the toasty cabin I had been inside just days before drifted towards me. My eyes fluttered open immediately. I sat up straight, the feel of the bedsheets dropping from my body made me groan. I looked down. I was undressed again. This time I had no clothes on Why was this young man obsessed with my body? I searched around the cabin for him, but he wasn't in. Fire cackled on in the hearth. That must have been the reason why everywhere felt delicious. It was warmed to perfection. My clothes hung around the fireplace to dry. The sound of the door opening made me raise the sheets tighter as I prepared to face the young man called Raine. I was surprised when I saw he came in with female clothes he had bundled in one hand and a carton filled with packed products. These were definitely not from his garden. He went into town? How come the townspeople didn't recognize him then? “Raine” I called softly. He turned to me. His face showed surprise but he quickly masked it. “That is not my name and you should stop coming here. You were lucky I found you.” My mouth opened. The sound of his voice had me blushing. My interest locked deep in his eyes, those eyes called me in. Begged me to take away their loneliness and love them. I snapped out of it at the mention of love. Was I crazy? I was even older than he was. I was five years older. “What did you do to the tiger? Did you kill it?” Was he that strong? I wondered. The corners of his lips went up “And why should I tell you that? Who are you and why did you come for my life?” his voice was calm but I could tell his patience ran short. “I am sorry, but I just wanted to thank you for saving me the last time. “ I couldn't help but notice how smooth his words were. This wasn't someone who lived alone, his language was prim and proper. Surely, this wolf has had some form of outside contact. He noticed my stare and stopped what he was doing. He turned to me, his patience waning. I knew an irritated Alpha when I saw one. “You are from Wolves creek aren't you? I do not want you coming here anymore. “ I was not scared of him, I bunched up the sheets in my hands, covered myself and stood up from the bed, the action made him stare at my exposed shoulders. I smirked. Got you! I doubt if he has ever had female contact. He turned his eyes away from me, the frown back in place. “You are Raine Carl, aren't you?” His head perked up at that question. The green in his eyes seemed to come alive. If he was a killer. This was the time for him to kill me. But he made no such move. Instead, he sat back, fire blazing in his eyes. “And what are you going to do about that? “ I was surprised he didn't try denying it. But figures, his eyes were a total giveaway. “Nothing, just curious,” I sang nonchalantly. Wrong move, I noted a little too late. I was slammed head first into the bed, his eyes blazing hot. I felt scorched. “Who are you, and what do you want? Did Brandon send you?” he asked angrily. His wrist held mine with enormous strength and it was beginning to hurt. “No, Brandon did not send me.” “So you know Brandon?” He paled above me. I realized my error: “Yes, but I have nothing to do with him. I learned about your story after you saved me from dying, and I needed to confirm that it was you.” “Now that you have confirmed it, what would you do about it?” He asked with venom. I should be scared but I wasn't. I figured if he was going to hurt me. He would have done so already. “I am a judge in Wolves Creek. And I believe if I hear your side of the story and if proper investigation can be done. We can find out what really happened." A flicker of emotion, loneliness flashed across his face but it was soon gone and in its place was a dejected look. “Get out of here,” he snapped. He released me and stood. “I know it sounds crazy. But I need to hear what happened. If you were innocent, don't you think your family deserves justice for what happened to them?” I cajoled I was not going to make headway like this. But I wasn't leaving. Damn it, the man was younger than I was. But he was so intimidating. His shoulders flexed as he turned away from me. He began unpacking the items he bought. I allowed my eyes to roam. The fire still cackles in the hearth. I would solve the mystery of his spoken speech and food items later. I needed to get dressed. “Can you please stop undressing me every time?” I muttered, shame registering late in my voice. He ignored me. I knew he heard, he was a wolf, his earing was sharp. I bunched up the sheets around me again and went for my clothes. Seeking privacy, I began walking around. I saw another open curve inside the cave. I went in with no hesitation. This place was filled with wood carving equipment. This man was a woodcraftman. And he was good. I held up a tool he used and winced. I dropped the sheets and began wearing my clothes unhurriedly. I was barely done with the buttons when I sighted a tiger's fur It was hidden from sight but not entirely. A tiger’s skin. I made a detour and collected my clothes. I wore them and made my way to the tiger's skin and fur, with its head intact. This was the tiger I saw the night before. Realization dawned on me. He hadn't saved me. He was the tiger himself. The air on the back of my head rose, and I turned back sharply, “Raine….” I was immediately struck on the back of my neck. Damnit, not again. I thought as I succumbed to the blinding force of darkness.
