Heaven & Hell & Sébastien Reed

“Sébastien Reed.” Angela put down her book and smiled at the man standing a few feet away looking like she imagined Aries the God of War would look in human form, with his black leather jacket, dark blue jeans, shoulder length black hair slicked back into a tight low pony, and his and his forest green tee that hugged his body in all the right ways. Angela licked her lips mentally checking for drool. “I haven’t seen you since graduation. How have you been?” Sébastien walked over so he wasn’t shouting. “I’ve been good. Traveling, training, building my business.” He motioned toward the empty chair next to her. When Angela nodded he took a seat. “What have you been up to?” “Not much of anything just working, doing some research, and coming here.” Angela shrugged. “Research? What kind of research?” Sébastien leaned back smirking. Jen walked over to refill Angela’s tea. “Nothing interesting..” “Nothing interesting?” She smacked Jens shoulder lightly as a mother would a child misbehaving in public. “Boy don’t you listen to this girl, she’s always selling herself short. Her work is pretty dang interesting. She writes crime novels and she is one hell of an amazing writer if I do say so myself.” Jen smirked at Angela and nodded toward Sébastien. Angela sighed, “Jen this is Sébastien Reed. We went to school together. Sébastien this is Jen. Her and her husband Donny own this place.” “Now you are going to be good to my girl here right?” Jen c****d an eyebrow at Sébastien. “Jen.” Angela snapped causing Jen to look at her all innocent. “I’m going to name a character in my next book Jen after you.” “Aw, hun. That’s so sweet.” Jen cooed. “And I’m going to kill her off in the first chapter.” “Hey now be nice or I won’t bring you that extra side of bacon Donny’s sneaking onto your plate under those fluffy pancakes of yours.” “You wouldn’t.” “I would. You know how much Jeffery loves bacon.” “You’d give that basset hound my beloved bacon.” Jen shrugged. “He’s not even supposed to have bacon.” Angela whined. “Fine. I won’t kill you off in the first chapter.” Jen patted Angela on the head. “That’s my girl.” She snickered. “I’ll bring your food in just a minute. Is there anything I can bring you sweetheart?” Jen asked looking at Sébastien. “You know what I haven’t had a chance to look, but you can bring me whatever it is she is having and a cup of coffee, black please.” “All right the Heaven and Hell special with extra meat, and death coffee coming on up.” She grabbed the menu Sébastien had been holding up for her. “I’ll be back in a moment with your coffee and a waver.” Sébastien tilted his head in question. “Ummm.” “She’s teasing you.” Angela laughed. “The coffee’s not that bad. It’s your typical strong dark roast, not the death coffee brand. No waver required.” Sébastien chuckled. “Good to know.” He leaned in. “So what am I going to be eating?” “You’ll see when you get here. It’s only the best breakfast there is, and you can only get it here.” Jen returned with his coffee and two plates filled with food. Sébastien looked at Angela and then back at the plates taking in the two, two inch tall chocolate and vanilla marble looking jiggly pancake topped with butter, fresh sliced strawberries, and nuts and four pieces of bacon tucked neatly underneath them, a slice of ham on the side, and the other plate was covered in fresh spinach, and on that was a pile of white rice topped with thick chili, 2 pieces of bacon, a slice of pineapple, jalapeños, two poached eggs, and mint. “That looks...” “I know, but don’t let the looks fool you. It’s delicious.” Angela said slicing the yolk on the eggs so they ran over and coated everything. She added her salt and pepper. “I was going to say good. I never would have thought o put them together like that and they’re huge, are you going to be able to finish it.” “I know. They are two different orders I combined when I worked here because I would burn a lot of calories running tables and walking back and forth to my little studio apartment at the other end of town and I would be so exhausted I would end up only eating once a day so it worked out for me.” Angela laughed at the look of astonishment on Sébastien’s face. “Now it’s kind of a treat.” Angela and Sébastien continued to talk and laugh while they waited for his order to be done. He kept trying to get Angela to eat, but she refused until he had his meal too. They had were finishing their meal and Angela was laughing at something when Sébastien moved closer and put his arm around her. She was about to ask why when she saw Allen approaching their table with her hanging off his arm like a sleazy sugar baby you’d find at some website looking for older men to buy her things in exchange for her company.
