Stronger Than Most

Chapter Sixteen

Elijah's POV

My wolf finally came out. He spoke to me. All this time I thought I had no wolf, that maybe I didn't even belong in this world. That maybe I was just human. That is not the case. I'm in this miserable place, but now I don't feel so alone.His name is Conri...means Wolf King. Who would think that? Me, a nobody, with a strong, powerful name like that. He has made me promise that no one can know anything until the time is right. Then I would definitely have a target on my back. It is bad enough that I am hated so much.

I have not heard a thing about Sharlot, not even through the winds. Thanks to my wolf, Conri, my hearing has improved dramatically. It is very impressive how this wolf thing works.I have no one to teach me about these things and changes, but my wolf is very smart. He has been teaching me patiently to learn about my new abilities and the changes that I am going thru. I cant even let my best friend Hank know about it.

My wolf has a plan. He says it is a good plan that would allow me to escape. He wont let me in on the plan. He thinks, since I have never been violent, I won't be able to do what I have to do when the time comes. I hate these wolves here, their time will come.I keep reminding Hank to stay strong that soon we will be able to escape this wretched life we are in. He seems to be more worried about Sharlot than I am. She is our best friend but I can tell they were much closer since they were out in freedom,,going to school and such. Even though they were not able to hang out like normal, they saw each other more daily than me.

Once we are able to escape this place, our life will change for the better.As I am lost in my own thoughts, I sense something, but I don't know what it is.

"Dont worry, stay calm." I'm confused. It was my wolf Conri. "What do you mean?" I asked him." Is what you sense is the smell of a wolf. You are able to smell them before even arriving with my help. "Wow, this is cool." I have no idea how these things work.

"Its not a thing, Its a part of you. Its me. Your senses will be higher in all aspects. You will be stronger as well. When they come in let me take over."

"Wait, you know what I'm thinking? Feeling?"

"Yes, everything about you. I am a part of you. We are one."

"You want me to let you take over? I don't know what that means."

"It means that I will come forward, I will take over your body and speak for you. They wont know it's me, unless it's absolutely necessary. This is going to be our chance. Stay calm, they are getting closer."

"What about Hank? Are you going to let him free as well? You know he is important to me."

"Yes, I'll make sure. Just let me do what I have to do."

The guards are here. Conri was right. But they are not alone. It's dark in here and I cant tell who it is or what really is going on. This is amazing, having a wolf. I can see as well as the daytime. What is that smell? That stench is from someone who is no good, said Conri in my head. He is strong, but not as strong as us. That is the Beta Conri. He is one of the best and strongest fighters in the pack. He is the father of Sharlot.

"Well, I hope you don't have feelings for him because we might have to kill him?"

"Kill him? I have never killed anyone."

"Don't worry Elijah, stop being so nervous, I will handle it. I'm afraid this is going to be the first of many."

"What are you talking about? I don't want to kill anyone."

"You have many enemies that you're not even aware of."

"How do you know that? How can you be so sure?"

"In time you will know for now let me do what I have to do in order to save us."

"Seems like today is your lucky day," said David with a grin.

Great, another beating is coming. Tell me something I don't know, I said to myself as I rolled my eyes to go to the back of my head, like if I could possibly do that.

"Let me do the work, Conri said. Today you will not get a beating."

"What do you mean? What exactly do you have in mind?"

"Today you will not get a beating, said Beta David.

"How so, are you leaving me free?"

He starts having a devilish laugh, you are very naive. Do you really think I'm going to let you free? I'm not the Alpha Nick. I don't have mercy for you. I'm guessing he does not have the heart to do what I can do to you, since he is not here and I am. I am going to do what needed to be done years ago and he neglected to do it."

"What is that? What do you know? He despises me and does not see me as his son that I am."

"I can tell you the reason why, because you are going to die and know no one will know or miss you. You are not his son, he only kept you around because of your mother, of a promise he made years ago to her, but he despises you. You remind him of your mother's infidelity."

I'm so confused? I feel like I cant breathe, but then again I feel relieved that the alpha is not my father, but now I have many questions.

"How do you know this? Do you know who my real father is? What are you really ta;king about? My mother was very faithful, so be careful how you talk about her!"

I got punched so hard on the side of my face that i felt like he nocked a tooth out of me. "Dont you dare raise your voice at me, be careful how you speak to me. You are not going to last long, I think you have been alive way past your time."
