Stronger Than Most

Chapter Eleven

Sharlot POV

I had to lie to my dad when he asked me if I had seen Hank. He did not ask me about Elijah because he thinks I don't know about him. Everyone in the pack thinks he is dead, besides the guards, him and the alpha. I am starting to think they are hiding something. I continue with my normal day to day routine , and whenever I get a chance i will investigate the truth of what is going on.

"Sharlot, honey, how's it going with Adam?"

"Its going well dad, everything is normal. He has invited me to go to his birthday party this weekend."

"That's wonderful. How old is he going to be again?"

"He will be turning eighteen, dad."

"Are you excited about being his mate?"

"Yes dad, I hope I'm the one when he finds out, but I'm nervous at the same time if it turns out I'm not his mate."

"Honey, he wont be able to resist you, just make everything possible for him to reject his mate if it turns out you are not the one. You have to be the next Luna in that pack, do you understand?'

"Yes, I understand. But why do I have to be the Luna of his pack? I'm okay with being a beta if he's not my mate."

"You do not understand Sharlot, you have to be the Luna of that pack no matter what. This pack is getting weak and we need an alliance. A strong, good alliance and the only way to do that is if you are a luna. You can not fail."

"Can you and the alpha speak with their alpha and maybe come to an agreement to become an alliance?"

"No, that is not possible, they would never agree to it because our alpha wants to stand alone, and this pack can not stand alone any longer. We are getting weak with so many attacks."

"Understood Father."

Hank and Elijah are calling. I hope they are doing okay.

"Hey! How is it going?"

"Hey Sharlot, is everything okay? Have they found out that we are missing?"

"No, not that I know of. My dad asked if I had seen you but not about Elijah."

"I think they know we are not dead because we are being followed, we have been running around the town trying to escape them."

"Try to lie low and I'll figure out what is going on."

I decided to go out to the woods without anyone seeing me. They have gammas on the borders. I really miss them and just want to head to our spot. I barely got by one of the gammas and I heard them talking about Hank and Elijah.

"I heard they found two of the kids that escaped the pack. That they might be the ones that arranged the attack."

"They won't be able to escape for long. As soon as they are caught, you know the alpha will kill them. He has no mercy."

"I wonder who the other kid is that escaped because I only know that Omega Hank is one of them, but I don't know who the other one can be."

"Maybe it could be one of the rouges that we caught not long ago in the cell. Maybe they came looking for him."

"I don't, we have not caught a child though, and they said it was another kid."

Oh no, that is not good. That means they found out and now where they are. I need to get back home and figure something out.

"Hey dad, I heard that you found one of the omegas that escaped?"

"Yes, don't worry about that, I'm taking care of it. Its just someone who has no meaning to the pack and you know that the Alpha don't like anyone trying to outsmart him."

I just smiled at him and walked away. He is definitely hiding something. I have to think of a way to figure out what is going on. Maybe I should go down to the dungeon and see if they have been caught and brought back here. I really hope they actually have a heart and not kill them. In the mean time, I have to figure out what I am going to wear for Adams' birthday.

I headed out to the mall after school with some of the other girls.I finally found a dress that I liked.

"What do you think about this dress, Veronica?"

"That looks beautiful on you, Sharlot."

"Thank you, now, we need to get some food. I'm hungry."

"When is the party?" asked Edith with a hint of jealously. I cant really trust her but she is good at being nosy.

"It's tomorrow. Hey, have you heard about the kids that escaped?"

"That's the current talk among everyone."

"I know, do you know who it is?"

"I heard it's that stupid omega kid, Hank? But I don't know who the other kid is. There is talk that it might be a rouge but others think that it could be a possibility that it could be Alpha Nicks son."

"How can that be possible? He told us that his son died in one of the attacks when he was a child shortly after his mom died."

"Maybe he just wants us to think that he died. It could be that that is why no one is allowed to go to the dungeon, only the guards or gamma, beta, and himself."

"Maybe you can ask your dad, since he is a beta," said Edith.

"I already kind of asked him and he only mentioned Hank.He made it clear he did not want me involved in any of it."

"Then me and Veronica can investigate some more if you like."

"What if he finds out , and I get in trouble?"

"We will make sure that he doesn't find out."

"Okay, then I should be heading home now. Call me or text me if you find out anything."

What a stressful day it has been. A nice bath would do me good. Ping! Have they found something out already? Oh its Adam.

"Hey Adam, I miss you. How are you doing?"

"I miss you too. I have been very busy with my dad getting me prepared to take over his position as Alpha."

"That's really good. I believe you would be a great Alpha to your pack."

"How is your pack doing? I heard you guys were attacked again?"

"We are doing great, we took them out with no problem."

"Is that so? That is good to hear. With all the attacks your pack has been getting, I would assume your pack would not be that strong."

"Those are just rumors, nothing to be worried about."

"Tomorrow I will find my mate, and if it happens to be you I need to know that you are strong enough to leave your pack for mines."

"I have been thinking about that and I'm ready for it. What if I'm not your mate?"

"I don't want to talk about that because I really want you to be the one."

"What if I'm not?"

"Breaking the mate bond might kill me. I don't know if I will be able to do that."

"You can't, you know I'm strong enough and have the ability to be luna. You know I love you."

"We will talk more about it tomorrow. Good night."
