Sold to the father
Sandra
“Family meeting by 8. Don’t be late” I read the text that had been sent by my sister, Diana as I groaned in frustration, resisting the urge to throw my phone to the wall. I turned to look at Gina, my best friend who had her focus on the ice cream in front of her.
“I can’t make it to the party” I announced and watched her eyes widen.
“What the hell Sandy, you are going to miss your best friend’s birthday party?”
“I can’t help it. Diana just texted me to be at home by 8. Apparently we have a family meeting”
“Since when did your family members get along so much to the point of having a meeting?”
In as much as that wasn’t meant to be funny. I still chuckled. She was right. My family was a total disaster. Everyone had his or her problems and we all sucked at handling it. That led to aggression being constantly transferred to one another and also constant chaos.
After my parents were banished from their pack because my Father betrayed the Alpha, his brother, he became a drug addict/ drunkard. Their marriage became a total disaster.
My mother got extremely tired of my dad and then she started having an affair with another man, which she didn’t even put any effort to hide.
My sister, Diana was mated to a married man, but she wouldn’t let him go because she believed the moon goddess didn’t make a mistake in mating them.
I never got my mate at 18 and I simply didn’t bother. I wasn’t as crazy as the other girls who would die to get a mate.
Apparently, my younger brother was the only one who didn’t have a problem with life, but was an annoying spoilt brat.
“Trust me, Gina, I don’t know,” I said casually.
“Maybe they want to find a solution to your lack of mate problem”
I rolled my eyes. “Since when did that become a problem?”
“You are 21 without a mate. Don’t you dream of getting married?”
“I don’t plan on doing that anytime soon and yes I can do that with or without a mate”
“You have to find a mate in order to get married dummy” She reminded me of the rule every girl knew as they were growing up.
“My mother and father aren’t mates” I reminded her of that fact.
She leaned closer, giving me an exhausted look. “And how is that going?” she c****d her eyebrows as I narrowed my eyes.
“Fine, but if my mate doesn’t get more serious in looking for me, I am going to stay like this. There is no f*****g way I would be looking for any man,” I said and she sighed, returning to her ice cream.
This wasn’t the first time we were having this conversation and this wasn’t the first time she was getting tired of me quickly.
I wouldn’t say I didn’t want a mate. I just wasn’t crazy about it like most girls were. If I got my mate, I would be happy. If I didn’t, then so f*****g be it.
I looked down at my phone. 8:03, I sighed. It was time for the stupid family meeting.
I stood up from my seat and Gina’s eyes followed me. “I have to go now,” I said briefly.
“You better get me a present tomorrow,” she shot at me.
“Yes ma’am” I nodded, turning to leave. I got into my truck and started the engine, which sounded like a dinosaur roaring. It was my father’s truck. My father used it a while ago for home deliveries when he still had a job and had his life together, but now he was a liability and I had to take the responsibility of catering for the family.
“Where the f**k are you Sandra????” texted my brother.
I sighed. I missed Gina’s birthday party for this stupid family meeting. It had better be good. It took me about 10 minutes to drive home and on getting there, staring at the bungalow we lived in, I sighed in frustration.
I could already feel my energy draining with each second that passed. I wasn’t emotionally ready for the drama that came from this building.
I realized how serious this was when I got to the sitting room and found my mom, my dad, and my two siblings seated, waiting for me patiently. This wasn’t a setting I was used to. Why were they together and not yelling their hearts off? Especially my mum and dad.
“Did somebody die?” I asked quietly.
My mother who seemed a little bit stiff forced a smile at me. “Of course not darling”
“She’s here already. Can we be done with this meeting!” My 17-year-old brother, Jeremy yelled out and my mother shot him a glare.
“What is this all about?” I was forced to ask.
“We have something very important to discuss” my father announced.
That had to be the first time in a long while I had seen my father sober. I didn’t want to get all excited because I knew he was going to get drunk or high on drugs immediately after this meeting.
“Your dad has a lot of debts” my mum began
“Is that a new discovery because I am pretty sure even the dog knows that” my brother spoke.
My mother continued, totally ignoring him, “It has been a struggle moving and running away from his debtors. In the space of 3 years, we have moved 5 times”, She paused as she sighed. “I know it has been hard for everyone since we got banished from our pack, but we need to put our s**t together and think of a way forward”
I rolled my eyes. This wasn’t the first time she was saying something like this and by the end of the day, nothing was actually fixed.
She continued “I and your father thought of paying off our debts and Alpha Williams agreed to help”
We all knew who Alpha Williams was. He was the Alpha of the dark sky pack. The most powerful pack ever heard of. He had about 11 children and 3 wives. His household was incredibly large with his pack being the largest pack to ever exist. He was well off amongst the humans too, being the owner of the two most powerful companies in the whole world. I wondered why someone of such high status would agree to help us.
My sister read my mind as she asked. “Why would someone like Alpha Williams want to help someone like dad?”
No offense to my father, but Diana was right.
My mother paused as she looked at my father who seemed uncomfortable. Then she turned to look at me, forcing a smile. “You are getting married Sandra” she announced. My heart dropped
“What the actual f**k” my brother exclaimed.
I scoffed and then I snickered. “You have got to be kidding me,” I said staring hard at my mother, hoping she would also laugh and say it was all a joke.
She shook her head as she pressed her lips together sadly. “Your father asked him for help and he demanded one of his daughters” her eyes saddened. “We had no choice Sandra but to give you up. Diana already has a mate so…”
My eyes widened. “So I was the better option for the slave trade!” I yelled out as anger streamed through me.
“Don’t call it that,” my father cautioned.
“This is a joke right” my brother asked.
My mother shook her head. “Everything is already in place. He’ll be here to take you in 30 minutes.”
“Isn’t that man like 60 or something,” my sister asked?
“He will take good care of your sister,” my father said casually.
Tears welled up in my eyes while I still boiled in rage “I work three jobs a day to bring food to the f*****g table! I had to train myself in school because you and dad couldn’t put your s**t together and be the parents I have always wanted. I have suffered in your hands so much and this is how I get paid!”
My mother busted into tears as she stood up, staring at my father. “You talk to her. I can’t do this,” she shook her head, sobbing hard while she left the sitting room.
My father stared at me with troubled eyes. “There is nothing I can do Sandy” he said softly
“No dad, that’s a f*****g lie. What you can do is tell that old man that I am not getting married to anyone. If you want me to get married to him, then you’d have to force me!” I yelled at the top of my voice and stormed out, going into my room and slamming the door hard.
I couldn’t believe it. How quick my parents were to sell me off. Did they not consider me important enough to inform me first? I sighed.
They probably knew I would say no. Of course I would. How the hell did they expect me to get married to a man who had 3 wives. To top that, I was never going to be with the mate I never got!
I was restless. They said he would be here in 30 minutes and during that wait, I kept tossing around, biting my fingers and staring at the huge clock in front of me. I was certain I wouldn’t let him take me. I convinced myself that if I was able to survive the night, I was going to run away and never return.
When the 30 minutes wait was over, I grabbed a pepper spray from my closet, locked my door and switched the lights off. They were all going to meet their deaths that night.
It didn’t take long before I started hearing the sound of cars trooping into the premises. I stared outside through the tiny creek of my curtains as I counted the SUVs. About five of them zoomed past my window.
My heart skipped when I glimpsed hefty men emerging from the car, dressed in suits and dark shades on. About seven of them. I gulped, staring at the pepper spray in my hands. That was the only weapon I had against men who probably had guns.
The men marched to our front door. I noticed one of the men was different. He wasn’t dressed in suits, but rather casual. I noticed the tattoos he had on his arms that screamed dangerous as he walked powerfully, but I wasn’t able to see his face.
The banging from the front door made me swallow hard as I scurried to my door, readying the pepper spray. I was going to take them all down even if I died trying.
While behind my door, I heard my father talking to them. “She would be down shortly” he assured them.
“Asshole” I cursed under my breath.
Then I heard my name. “Sandra!” my dad called out, but I remained quiet. “Come down and meet our guests” he said, but still got no response from me.
“We don’t have the time for this. Where is she, we will get her ourselves” Came a husky deep voice that made the hairs on my skin stand.
“This way” my father directed them.
It didn’t take long before I started hearing powerful footsteps getting closer to my room. I positioned the pepper spray in such a way that the first person who opened the door was going down.
There was a soft knock on the door at first. When I didn’t say anything, the knock turned to banging. “Sandra please open the door” my dad called out. I could hear the panic in his voice. It was easy to tell he wasn’t the one hitting my door, but one of the men.
Someone suddenly spoke “You better do yourself a favour and get the f**k out of there because if I break this door down myself, it isn’t going to end well for you” the familiar deep voice called out. My wolf shuddered, but I wasn’t as scared as she was.
“I would like to see you try” I dared to speak and the next thing I saw was someone’s boots breaking through the door effortlessly, causing dust to fill the floor. My eyes widened while I began to move back. I had totally forgotten how soft the wood of my door was. Apparently, the house we stayed was falling apart slowly.
My heart skipped when the door was broken even more and it didn’t take long before it was flung completely open. About three men stormed into the room. I didn’t hesitate in using the pepper spray on the first person, the second, and then the 3rd. They all fell to the floor as they groaned in pain.
I wasn’t given a break. The tats guy stormed in as though he wasn’t scared of the weapon in my hands. His grey eyes on me made me shudder. His perfect face looked so dangerous, but that didn’t stop me from using the tool in my hands.
I used the pepper spray with the hope that he would fall to the floor like the rest, but all he did was blink twice, and once again his grey deadly eyes were on me, unmoved. My heart sank. I thought to try again, but before I could even raise my hands, he grabbed it and took the can from my grip, tossing it to the floor.
“Play time’s over” he let out and before I could discern what was going on, he flung me across his shoulder, carrying me out of the room.
“Get me down this instant!” I pounded hard on his back as I wiggled my legs around, but the huge person seemed immune to pain. How else could someone survive a pepper spray? I tested it once on myself and thought I was going to die the whole day, but he chested it like it was nothing.
“f*****g drop me now asshole!” I fired at him fiercely, but he paid no heed to what I said.
We got to the sitting room where my whole family gathered. My mother was crying hard, my sister and my brother too. My father was the only one not falling apart, but I could see the guilt present in his eyes.
The man dropped me before my family. “Say your goodbyes” he ordered.
“How wonderful” I shot at him sarcastically and then I turned to look at them.
“I am so sorry honey” my mother cried out, but I felt nothing. How dare she cry when she could stand there and watch me get sold? My brother came forward and hugged me, and so did my sister. Their crying made me want to cry, but I sucked it in. I didn’t want them to see that I was broken.
They broke away from my grip “Goodbye…” I was still trying to get the words through when the man suddenly flung me on his shoulders once again.
“Time’s up” he announced as he carried me out.
“I haven’t even said anything!” I yelled at him, but he failed to listen. I tried my best to wiggle out of his grip, but he was doing a good job, holding me firmly. “f**k you!” I cursed hard as I hit him hard on his back with my fist
He put me into one of the SUVs that was packed outside with a driver, ready to move the car. The moment we both got in, the driver hit speed. I took advantage of my freedom and the first thing I did was hit the asshole with my foot hard on his face. The driver still drove very fast despite the chaos.
The tats man groaned as a result of the impact and I was satisfied I was able to finally inflict pain on him. He wasn’t indestructible after all.
Every action had a consequence and I knew my actions were going to face one when he turned to look at me with his eyes reddened in anger. I swallowed hard, staring back at those dangerous eyes.
He rushed at me and I flinched, thinking he was going to hit me, but instead, he opened the door by my side and pushed me out the door slightly, grabbing firmly on my hand. I was partially outside a moving car and the only thing that was saving my life was his strong arms that held me. My heartbeat accelerated. I knew the instant he let go of my hands i’d be dead.
“Listen to me very good. I am Leo, one of Alpha Williams’ sons. If I kill you and present him with a good reason why I did so, he wouldn’t even think twice about it, so don’t f*****g test me b***h” he snapped at me, but what I was more concerned about was getting back into the car before a car comes and takes my head off.
When he noticed he had instilled an adequate amount of fear in me, he dragged me back into the car and shut the door. This time, I knew better than to fight again.
We got to a mansion about 2 hours later and once again, I was forced to cry. The realization of my life being finished made it hard to breathe. The only thing I could pray for was for my life to not completely fall apart in this mansion.
