"W... what?" Jack asked, alarmed.
"The question is simple, fat guy, where did you get the crystals?" Asked the guy who had invoked the chains before with a mocking and arrogant attitude.
"First of all, who are you guys?" Arthur asked, looking like he didn't like those guys.
"Are you deaf? We ask the questions here, where..." the chain guy had started to respond, but the sword girl interrupted by raising a hand.
"You all are apparently pretty confused" she said, and then let out a sigh, but without losing her cool pose "we are members of the Interdimensional Guardians, we are here to retrieve the stolen crystals. I am Aretha Artume, user of the light element, leader of this division. My companions can introduce themselves to you" Aretha was a tall girl with long, braided blond hair that rested on her shoulder.
"Hey, Artume, is this really necessary? Why don't we just wipe out these suckers and get the crystals back?" Asked the guy who had invoked the chains, with a lot of contempt in his voice. Jack didn't like him. Aretha simply glanced at her companion, he shrugged with a grimace, as if he was doing it grudgingly "Fine! I'm Aita, not that I think you deserve to know my name." he was a boy with semi-shaven hair with a streak dyed green, strange looking, darkly painted eyes and mouth, no eyebrows and rings in his ears.
"Thea Sethlans" said a girl with short, spiky hair and dyed red, pointing at herself with her thumb. " Fire element magic user."
"Glabro", a big boy introduced himself, his sleeveless uniform featuring crossed arms with tight muscles, he had a big belly but was a mix of muscular and fat, his voice was deep and slow "Arkoúda Glabro, earth magic user."
"I'm Polo and I'm a wind magic user". Polo wore a cap that left his face partially hidden.
"Evagore Sobek, water magic user". The girl had straight hair, wore shell earrings, a necklace with a strange rune and was the only one who wore a skirt, instead of the uniform pants like the others wore, a round skirt in a magenta color.
"Now that we've done all this clowning, I think they can hand over the crystals and go back to that stupid school trip." said Aita, with the same old mocking arrogance.
"So is it to you that we should give it back? Very well", Miguel made to hand over the crystalline orb, but Fenrir stopped him.
"Hold on, Miguel" Fenrir said, stepping out from behind everyone and coming face-to-face with the supposed guardians, "what proof do they have that these crystals are their own? I mean, an invoice? A certificate? A family photo at a Sunday lunch with those crystals in hand? No? Nothing? So sorry, we don't have to give them any crystals."
"Hey little kid, you're too cheeky for someone your size, be smart and take your friend's advice that's clearly smarter than you." Aita advised with contempt.
Fenrir gave Aita an almost expressionless look.
"You know what? You are weird. Why don't you go back home and go watch those tentacle hentai of yours or whatever weird stuff you like." Some who were there laughed, including some of the Guardians.
"What did you say?" Aita growled, wanting to advance against Fenrir, but Aretha stopped him.
"We don't have any of the evidence you suggested, boy, but we wear the Guardians' coat of arms on our chests, and our brotherhood was responsible for guarding the power crystals for centuries. These crystals are not to be used irresponsibly, only the most worthy, the Guardians, who have gone through the toughest trials and training, can inherit the power you all have at hand and hardly know what they are about. Deliver them peacefully, or we will be forced to use force."
"She is right, boys" said Thea, with a smile on her face, "we don't want to use violence against newbies like you, but we have orders."
"In terms of information alone, thousands were candidates to inherit the powers of the crystals." Aita started talking with a smirk and her hands on her hips, "of those thousands, only ten teams of six members are left, the most suitable candidates, ranked in power order, and among these ten most powerful teams, we are the third class, that is, we've ousted a lot of others who've trained their whole lives just for a chance to inherit a legendary power, what would we do with you newbies? It would be a massacre."
Jack gritted his teeth and clenched his fists tightly.
"Stop treating us like weaklings!" He screamed.
"Against facts there are no arguments dude, you were having difficulties with those bugbears, get real" Thea spoke with a shrug, as if speaking to a nobody.
"You have twenty-four hours after the first use of the powers to deliver the crystals, after that they will synchronize with you... so there will only be one way to resolve this, with your death." Said Aretha with surgical coolness.
"What if we don't want to deliver? What if we want to fight for what is now ours?" Arthur asked.
"So you all will see how sharp my blade is."
"Wow! We'll see how sharp they are" Fenrir quipped. "Hear that guys? She'll show us how sharp those blades are. Yow!" Friends laughed, despite the tension.
"This brat is asking to die!" Aita growled angrily.
"Do you risk your lives for this power?" Aretha asked.
"I certainly won't hand it on a silver platter!"
"Right" the girl sheathed the sword, "these people have seen too many strange things for one day. The mental wizards will have a hard time modifying these memories, so let's not fight here. You all will have an hour to rest and prepare. After that, our mental wizard will send the coordinates of where to find us. If you all try to run away or hide, we will find you."
"Why don't we just finish them off here, Artume?" Aita asked.
Aretha Artume just turned and looked at them sideways.
"They have the right to try to prove themselves worthy. Let's go. One hour."
"Youse have one more hour of life, chickens!" Laughed Aita maliciously, before leaving with the other Guardians.
"These guys... I definitely won't lose to them!" Jack thought with determination.
