Well, it was obvious how two plus two is four, Gwendy and Tsuki were the same person, the same entity, the ancient Tsuki, the goddess of heroism fallen from the pantheon...but that didn't explain much. What was her goal? Why did she choose them anyway? Why had she fallen from the pantheon of the gods? As Miguel thought about all these new questions, the statue glowed, the bronze sparkled as if exposed to the rays of a strong sun, and then the light flickered like a living flame.
"Hello my Six Warriors, hello Guardians!" Said the voice from the statue, but that wasn't Gwendy's usual little-girl voice, no, that was the voice of a divine entity.
"My Lady Tsuki" Drorn knelt before the statue, the Guardians followed him one by one, Miguel and the chosen others rose to their feet and looked at each other with silly faces.
"Rise up, I am no longer a goddess of the pantheon! Although I still have some of my strength, I am no longer worthy of devotion."
"So come on, tell us everything, what happened?" Miguel asked the statue.
"A lot has happened, young Miguel." The statue replied, "It turns out that something very powerful somehow directly hit the Perennial Gates, somehow, at the time of their crossings, they managed with some kind of power... to drive the structures of the Perennial Gates crazy."
"So that's why we didn't cross directly to the base of the Guardians of this world." Said Yumi, "but who did it? Who would have that much power?"
"I could say it was the forces of evil, but that would be too simplistic. Turns out the scenario is a little more complex than it looks, you should have been destroyed in the crossing, or you should have gone to some unknown dimension, or stayed for always trapped in the limbo that is the space of the Gate. I used some of my goddess power to bring you as close as possible to the place where the power of the scrolls radiated so you wouldn't have that much trouble."
"But, my lady," just then Drorn rose, "you should not be using your divinity powers in such a wasteful way...!"
"It was the only way, Drorn! Besides, I'm no longer a goddess of the pantheon, I can meddle in earthly affairs."
"Y-yet…my goddess, you…"
"What you mean?" Fenrir asked suspiciously.
"It means that..." Drorn looked at Fenrir and he had a rather sad expression, "that every time our goddess uses her divine powers, she is wasting her own essence, using her own emanation... each time this happens, its emanation becomes weaker and weaker... with it, it runs the risk of disappearing. Forever."
Miguel and the others seemed to feel uncomfortable knowing that fact. The goddess continued, as if that wasn't important.
"I'm using my divine essence right now, so listen carefully! Your reports were heard by my statue, so I am aware of what you went through until you got here. Despite the recommendations not to play heroes and not draw attention to themselves, you did." Miguel and the others remained crestfallen, like children being lectured by Mom. "You all made me so proud!" Said the goddess, "I am the goddess of heroism after all, and dangerous actions that seem almost irresponsible are in my nature too, you did what you thought was right and didn't stand still in the face of injustice. Congratulations!" Miguel looked at the others, they now had their heads up and smiled, "however, I must warn you now, be more careful, I mean it, be very careful now, you must have noticed, the enemies that you face are dangerous. You have successfully passed all the trials and followed the instincts proposed to each of the Kerds, the mission I will give you now will make you grow even more, however, it will require more responsibility and mainly, I mean it now, especially you should be the most discreet possible. Never reveal the nature of your Six Warriors, the time hasn't come yet."
"Very well, I'm prepared, go ahead, Auntie!" Jack said with an excited face.
"Hey kid, see if you have more respect for our goddess!" Drorn chided.
"Fat-Jack is right" Arthur agreed, "let's talk about this mission, I can't wait to blow some more guys out there!"
"Very well, but you must control your haste now. I have a message from the Eagle. A message for the Guardians. Six Warriors, the message is not for you, wait outside."
"You're not serious, are you?" Jack complained, but when he saw that no one else objected, he left with the rest of them.
...
Miguel and the others were waiting outside the tavern. Jack doused and lit a small flame in his fingers, as if he was anxious. Arthur growled in a crouch. Fenrir looked at the clouds, Sam listened to music, Ethan and Miguel watched the passersby, but for Miguel, Ethan was focusing more on the female gender. There was a lot to see there, a lot to discover, but they had seen very little of everything yet, Miguel hoped to have more time to read more about the world and also see everything with his own eyes, traveling through that fantastic world would be amazing, so, yes, you could say that he was also a little excited about what mission they should undertake, despite the dangers they were likely to encounter ahead. At that same moment, Miguel remembered the Man in the Gray Cape and all his intimidating aura.
"After all, what's the problem with hearing what those Guardians' mission is going to be, huh?" Jack complained, "We're all on the same team after all!"
"Not anymore, Jack" said that girl named Thea to Jack, apparently they were leaving, as they were carrying their own luggage.
"What you mean?" Jack asked, seeing them there.
"Let's be separated now." Yumi said, "A new mission for us, and also a new task for you guys."
Miguel realized something. Yes, the Guardians were there, but not ALL the Guardians. Victoria, Stanis, Philip (aka Seraph) and Marcus were not there, with the others.
"It's time for us to say goodbye" the girl named Alexia said, with a sad smile on her face, "watch yourself, kiddo." She ruffled Fenrir's hair affectionately.
"It's not an eternal goodbye, you know?" Evagore said to Miguel, as he watched Alexia and Fenrir's scene, "let's all meet again. At least that's what I hope." She smiled and looked at Fenrir too, "I was with your friend on the mission, he's not as bad as I expected, but I can't really say I'm friends with him either."
Miguel was about to say something, when out of nowhere the tip of a staff was pointed at his neck.
"Friend is a very strong word, that's right" said the little girl, Yumi, "but yes, maybe we can call you mates. We did a good job together, Miguel."
"Yeah, we really did it," Miguel replied with a smile, "just…don't follow this custom of pointing that staff at the necks of others, okay?"
Evagore laughed at that and Yumi just went "humpf". Everyone else said goodbye to their teammates. It was impressive, seeing that scene, it was hard to say that it hadn't been a month since those guys wanted to kill Miguel and his friends.
So that was it. When the collaboration between the Six Warriors and the Guardian teams came to an end, they would follow their own missions, which Miguel and the others didn't know what they would be.
