The students had been separated into trios for the activities related to the studies for which they had gone there, but, of course, everyone was only interested in what came next; free time, to enjoy everything that was cool there, the beach, the inn attractions, forest tours...
Sam and Ethan were Arthur's companions. The first was just listening to music with those headphones and humming like an i***t. The second was strange, as if his mind was elsewhere.
After the activities were over, they were free to do whatever they wanted.
"Yeah! That's what I like, outdoors, physical activities, adrenaline!" Arthur almost screamed. He looked at Sam, "hey dude, just put that phone down for a few hours, enjoy it all here".
"I am", Sam said without taking off his headphones.
"Right" Arthur frowned, unconvinced, then he looked at Ethan, "hey, Ethan, why the dismay? In normal situations you would be cheerful to see some girls in bikinis, huh?"
"An? Oh, yes, I guess", Ethan replied. When the trio composed of Jack, Fenrir and Miguel arrived there, Ethan seemed to improve a bit and things went normal for a while... until Ethan started with some weird conversations and they weren't weird in a good way, they were just... really weird.
"Have any of you ever seen that girl before?" Ethan asked.
"Man, did you really let yourself be intimidated by a brat?" Arthur growled in response.
"She wasn't trying to intimidate, no, it was more like a warning."
"Yoshi! Why don't we get the story straightened out?" Jack suggested with a smile plastered on his face.
"No, I don't think I'm interested," Fenrir yawned.
"Scared, Fenrir?" Jack provoked.
"Oh yes, I'm scared to death of the 'weird murder girl', very scary."
"But I think I'm curious, I mean, it managed to take Ethan's attention away from the bikini girls for a while, so it shouldn't be something common."
In the end, the six decided to go out of curiosity to the place at the appointed time. The little girl was there, she didn't look weird, but something about her said she wasn't normal, maybe something non-human, or alien, Arthur couldn't tell.
"Yes, exactly the ones I wanted here." said the girl.
" Okay, so who are you?" Fenrir asked.
"I don't know, call me Gwendy, if you want a name."
"Strange name, for a strange person."
"Look who's talking, huh, Fenrir?" the girl smiled.
"How the hell do you know my name?"
"Does not matter!" Arthur roared "I came here expecting something exciting. Where is it?"
"Oh, you'll get what you want, just follow me." The girl turned on her heel and headed into the forest, getting darker and darker. The boys looked at each other and followed her. They saw her pass behind a big rock that was there and then disappear. Arthur had always been waiting for some kind of prank or trick, but now it seemed to be going far.
"Right, you came here to play hide and seek?" Growled Arthur before running up to the rock and trying to check behind it, but Gwendy was gone. Arthur widened his eyes and didn't understand, so he decided to just move on, as if the voice of fate was calling him.
Expecting to see his friends on the other side, the boy was surprised when he saw a totally different place. It was like a ruined temple built on vast plains, white stones littered the floor and marble pillars rose high, but they were covered with vines and vegetation. There was also, on the altar of the temple, a statue of a goddess made of a bluish white stone. The goddess held a sword in both hands in front of her perfect statue's face. Gwendy was there, staring at the statue.
"Where are we?"
"In an ancient temple of a long-fallen goddess."
Only then, his other friends appeared there, as impressed as he was.
"Everyone is already here so it's showtime." Gwendy gave a smile that looked sly and evil at the same time.
She asked the boys to open a trapdoor behind the statue. They did so, there was a chest there, which unlike the rest of the temple, did not look old. Everyone was looking at the chest trying to understand what was going on there.
"What are you waiting for? Open up!" The girl ordered, throwing the key to Ethan.
When opened, the chest showed six spherical and colorless crystals, practically opaque.
"Now it's time for the truth. Do what I say and you'll not only survive, you'll reach a new level of power" smiled Gwendy.
