A Brief Fight - (Ethan)

A tense atmosphere permeated the air at that time. Ethan saw Jack stand still, looking at the girl and not knowing how to react. If he knew he would attract that kind of attention from the girl, he would have said beforehand that he was also one of the six, so he would fight her, even get beaten on purpose if that were the case. “What are you saying, Ethan? This power is a responsibility, not a crutch to get girls! Behave yourself! Although… no! None of that!”

"So what you gonna do, Jack?" Hana continued to ask Jack, pointing her fist at the boy.

"If Fat-Jack doesn't go I will!" Arthur declared, taking the front of the chose one of fire, which made Yumi move.

"Put yourself in your place, boy." She snarled, pointing the staff at Arthur's neck, stopping him from going any farther. "My sister didn't talk to you."

Arthur growled at the girl, but he couldn't move in time to avoid the attack, so he remained silent.

"Okay guys, I don't think we need this" Hornfoot tried to soothe, with a forced smile, as if he feared some problem.

"Calm down?" Disdeined Fenrir with a sardonic smile. "Now that's getting interesting, eh, eh, eh."

"Is that alright to you, Alexia?" Victoria asked.

"I think it's a waste of time, but why should I get involved? I can't say I'm not curious about the outcome of this."

Ethan supposed he had to do something, he was the oldest there, but before he could act, Jack answered.

"Right." Everyone looked at him. "Okay, I'm in." Hana smiled at him."

"Great," she replied.

"Jack, don't act on impulse always!" Ethan scolded. "What do you think you gonna achieve with this nonsense?"

"I don't want to be underestimated anymore, Ethan!" The chosen one of the fire replied with such seriousness that Ethan was startled. "All my life I've been underestimated, but now I have a chance to prove myself. I cannot refuse a challenge. Refusing a challenge is underestimating me, as everyone has done to me for so long. I will no longer be underestimated, you will see, no matter how many tests I have to pass!"

"Jack..."

"Very well said." Hana said. "Is ready? Here and now."

"I'm always ready. "Jack smiled confidently and at that moment Ethan realized that none of his friends could make him change his mind.

Everyone backed away to make room for the fighters.

"Ten bucks on the girl." Fenrir said shrugging.

"Ten?" Miguel asked. "Well, I bet twenty."

"Jack will be beaten on purpose because she's pretty." Sam said. "I've known him for a long time, he couldn't resist a face like that. Do you remember seventh grade? There was that girl who..."

"Jack is our friend!" Ethan scolded the others. "That's what he was talking about. He's not the same anymore. Let's trust him."

"Yup, go Jack, you can do it!" Fenrir said with his bored expression, pretending to be ironically excited, "Was something like this that you wanted, Ethan?"

Sometimes it was annoying how he didn't take anything seriously.

"Anyway, you saw Ethan." Arthur spoke seriously. "What she was able to do with that monster. Do you think Jack would make it so easy?"

"The fat one doesn't stand a chance." Yumi said smiling. "Just look."

"Jack is not weak." Ethan defended his friend.

"She's a little right, Ethan." Victoria said. "Hana already has more experience in battle, she has more technique. I would stop this fight, but it would be a waste of time. Jack is the type who learns by doing."

"I'll stop the fight on either one's first fall." Alexia said.

"Are you ready, chosen?" Hana asked, smiling confidently.

"I'm always ready!" Jack answered and then moved forward. Ethan saw his friend fire several punches and they all hit the air, Hana dodged easily.

"You're still too slow and your attacks clumsy." She said as she dodged. "You not even fit to be one of the crystal candidates." She then hit him at chest level and Ethan saw his friend block with his arms crossed, however, the blow was so strong that Jack was dragged backward, causing the dust on the floor to rise.

"What a heavy blow!" Thought Ethan.

Hana attacked once more while Jack was still defending and this second attack destabilized Jack's entire base which was eventually taken down.

"Oh come on Jack, I haven't even started."

Jack frowned, got to his feet and stepped forward again, fist raised, but someone held back his attack. It was Alexia.

"That's enough, she knocked you down, the fight is over."

"Wow, this was over before it even started!" Yumi said after a whistle.

"I did an analysis on this test, newbie. Or rather, chosen one of the fire. In a short time of fighting, I could conclude: weak, slow and without technique." Hana said.

Ethan noticed Jack gritting his teeth.

"But better than most newcomers who come here." Continued the girl. "Including me, eh, eh. You have a great future ahead of you, Jack. Maybe you can be the hero you aspire to be.” She then flashed him a smile. Ethan was happy for his friend's recognition and even a little envious.
