CHAPTER 4

292 Words
As the sky grew dark, they decided to head back to the boardwalk. Alex had made reservations at a restaurant he knew Emily would love, and they dressed up for their first official date. The restaurant was located at the end of the boardwalk, overlooking the ocean. The lights inside were dim, casting a warm glow over the room. Emily felt a bit nervous, but also excited to see what the night would bring. They sat down at a cozy table by the window, and Alex ordered a bottle of wine for them to share. Emily took a sip, enjoying the rich, fruity flavor. As they waited for their food to arrive, they talked about their past relationships and what they hoped for in the future. As the night wore on, Emily found herself feeling more and more comfortable around Alex. He was so easy to talk to, so genuine and kind. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt this connected to someone. After dinner, they took a stroll along the boardwalk. The stars were out in full force, twinkling in the night sky. They walked hand in hand, taking in the sights and sounds of the ocean. Suddenly, Alex stopped in front of a small carnival game booth. "I've been waiting for the right moment to do this," he said, pulling out a few bills from his pocket. "What are you doing?" Emily asked, her curiosity piqued. "I'm going to win you a prize," Alex said with a grin. Emily laughed, feeling a sense of lightness she hadn't felt in ages. They played a few games, and Alex won her a giant stuffed bear that she had her eye on. Emily felt like a kid again, giddy with excitement.
